LEGO Tower Mobile Game Now Available!

Back in March, LEGO announced an upcoming mobile game called LEGO Tower, developed in partnership with NimbleBit, creators of the popular game, Tiny Tower. LEGO Tower works much the same way as the original Tiny Tower game, giving players the ability to build and operate their own LEGO tower. Shortly after the announcement, LEGO ran a contest for designing a virtual floor for the LEGO Tower game, with the winners having their designs integrated into the actual game. Now, LEGO Tower is finally available, and we can play! Below are the press-release, launch trailer, and other info about the game.

Get ready to take your LEGO construction skills to new heights! Today, LEGO Games, together with NimbleBit, creators of the classic mobile game Tiny Tower, have released LEGO Tower, a brand-new, free-to-play, tower-building experience for iOS and Android devices. In LEGO Tower, players will build and manage their own skyscraper communities — creating the ultimate dream spaces for their minifigures to live their best blocky-self lives.

The residents of LEGO Tower are very busy folks. When they’re not sprucing up their apartments, they’re painting in art class, chowing down at the Burger Bar and meeting new friends. But somebody’s got to keep the place in order! Players will be responsible for decorating, ordering supplies, managing restaurants, introducing neighbors and a variety of other fun and interactive tasks, while also building it up the tower to be the most desired community around.

Have what it takes to be an all-star tower manager? Test out your skills in LEGO Tower, available for free on the App Store or Google Play now. LEGO Tower is rated 4+ for everyone, but is best enjoyed by players 8+ on mobile or tablet devices with iOS 11 or Android 4.1 and up OpenGL ES 3 support.

The main feature of the game is that it allows you to construct a wide range of apartments and businesses for your minifigure residents to live, work, and play in. And, an even more fun feature is that you can visit your friends’ towers and trade items to help them build. Plus, you get to collect hundreds of unique minifigure pieces and discover hidden characters along the way. LEGO fans have been sharing their LEGO Tower code on social media so friends can add them. It’s a really fun and addictive game!

To coincide with the launch of the game, LEGO also managed to get 1,500 LEGO fans to construct a massive brick-built LEGO Tower filled with colorful apartments, shops, and businesses and broke the Guinness World Records for the largest LEGO Brick Diorama. Below is the press-release about this event.

LEGO Games, part of The LEGO Group, shattered all expectations today, breaking the Guinness World Records title for the largest LEGO Brick Diorama at the LEGO House in Billund, Denmark. The massive structure, weighing in at 400 kilograms (881.8 pounds) and spanning 21,04 square meters (226 square feet), brings to life themed floors, apartments and shops from the upcoming game LEGO Tower. Over the course of three days, more than 1,500 fans joined together to recreate 554 rooms and their minifigure residents as they appear in the game.

“It’s thrilling to see hundreds of creative and passionate builders come together to construct the world’s largest LEGO Brick Diorama, and truly an honor to be recognized by Guinness World Records for this monumental achievement,” said Edgaras Racinskas, LEGO Tower Marketing Lead. “Our fans have given rise to a massive structure that is testament to the imaginative power of LEGO bricks combined with the fun digital play to be found in LEGO Tower.”

“Together with LEGO Games we have been working hard to develop LEGO Tower, created to inspire and charm our fans worldwide. Seeing the LEGO community come together to build LEGO Tower in the real world has truly been a captivating and rewarding experience over the last three days,” said Ian Marsh, co-founder of NimbleBit.

LEGO Tower, launched on iOS and Android devices on July 1, tasks players to build and manage their own tiny skyscrapers, overseeing a wide variety of spaces for their minifigure residents to live, work, and play. The tower-building game was created in partnership with acclaimed mobile games studio NimbleBit, giving players a new way to build out their LEGO dream rooms in the real world.

Since its debut in 1990, the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy has become one of the company’s most popular models, and soon you will be able to own a LEGO version! Today, LEGO announced the #10269 LEGO Creator Expert Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. Below is the press-release, set description, images, details on availability, and more. Enjoy!

Today, the LEGO Group revealed its latest LEGO Creator Expert model – a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy that will cruise into LEGO Stores globally on August 1, 2019. Developed in collaboration with Harley-Davidson, this detailed LEGO interpretation of the iconic Milwaukee motorcycle captures the beauty of the real-life machine with finishes, surfaces, and design elements crafted to replicate the full-size Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. Featuring 1,023 pieces, the model comes complete with solid-disc wheels, teardrop fuel tank, integrated speedometer, and dual exhaust pipes.

The finished model measures over 7 inches (20 cm) high, 7 inches (18 cm) wide and 12 inches (33 cm) long and features several moveable parts for owners to engage. Spin the rear tyre to see the Milwaukee-Eight engine with moving pistons and dual exhaust pipes, spring to life. Turn the handlebar, move the gearshift and brake levers, and flip down the motorcycle’s kickstand for easy parking. Finished with an authentic dark red and black color scheme with Harley-Davidson logos on each side reflective of the 2019 Fat Boy motorcycle’s Wicked Red paint scheme, it’s a perfect display centerpiece for any home, office, or anywhere to channel the inspiration to ride.

“Bringing this Harley-Davidson motorcycle to life in brick form is incredibly exciting,” said Mike Psiaki, Design Master at LEGO Group. “The model truly captures the iconic design, advanced engineering and attention to detail of this iconic motorcycle, offering an immersive building experience and a unique collector’s item for Harley-Davidson enthusiasts and LEGO fans of all ages.”

“It’s been exceptionally exciting for Harley-Davidson to collaborate with the LEGO Group – another brand that champions creativity and expression,” said Heather Malenshek, Chief Marketing Officer at Harley-Davidson. “Not only do we want customers to be inspired by the end result, we want them to enjoy the building process.”

“The authenticity of Harley-Davidson design comes by sweating the details from start to finish.” said Brad Richards, Vice President of Styling & Design, Harley-Davidson. “We looked at every nut and bolt on the bike, all the finishes, and every small detail. Working with the LEGO team on this project allowed us to bring that same attention to detail to a collaborative product, and to celebrate a brand that inspired the imagination and creativity of many of us at Harley-Davidson from a young age, including myself.”

To celebrate the launch, LEGO Master Builders created a life-size model of the motorcycle, complete with silver-coated parts, Wi-Fi animation control, sound and light effects to imitate a real Harley- Davidson Fat Boy and 6,000 special LEGO elements. The extraordinary creation took 865 hours to build, is made of 69,569 pieces and will be on display at select LEGO stores and Harley-Davidson events for fans to see.

And here is the official description of the set: Build and display your own Harley-Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle! Explore the finer details of iconic engineering with the #10269 LEGO Creator Expert Harley-Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle. Developed in partnership with Harley-Davidson, this highly detailed LEGO motorcycle captures the magic of the real-life machine, from its solid-disc Lakester wheels with beefy tires to its teardrop fuel tank with printed logos and inbuilt speedometer. Finished with a dark-red and black color scheme, this amazing display model makes a truly iconic centerpiece for the home or office. This advanced LEGO set provides an immersive and rewarding building experience.

Designed by stylists Willie G. Davidson and Louie Netz, the real-life Fat Boy has undergone very few modifications over the years aside from some minor design tweaks. Its defining characteristic is the front and rear solid-cast disc wheels, which LEGO designers captured well. The teardrop fuel tank, the seat, the engine, and the dual exhaust pipes also look good in the LEGO version. And, it’s great to see that the logo is printed! It’s such a distinctive feature of the real bike.

On the other hand, I’m not too happy about the front suspension. It seems too thick and stiff compared to the sleek tapering design of the original. However, I can’t think of any other currently available LEGO parts that would have worked better. Another result of the limitation of the LEGO medium is that the iconic gently flared fenders weren’t captured all that well.

I’m actually pretty surprised that LEGO choose a Harley-Davidson to be made into a set. Harleys are known for their lovely curves and classic handmade look, which is hard to recapture with LEGO elements. A sportier, more modern bike would have been easier to work with. That LEGO designers took up the challenge to recreate a Harley is respectable, and the bike does look good from most angles. It’s only the front suspension that really bothers me. And, if they had added some chrome parts that would have been fantastic!

At least in North America, the Fat Boy is super popular with baby boomers, so I expect the LEGO version to sell well. And, the bike’s popularity isn’t limited to Harley’s customer base. The Fat Boy appeared in several films, like Terminator 2, Terminator: Genisys (one of the bikes from Terminator 2 is currently on display at the Harley-Davidson Museum), and Wild Hogs, and television shows like Sons of Anarchy, and CSI: Miami.
