Changes Coming to The LEGO VIP Program

If you are a LEGO VIP member, you should have gotten an email by now with some preliminary information about the changes coming to the LEGO VIP program. If you haven’t received the email, I have included the information below for your reference. 🙂

We’re super excited to let you know we’re making improvements to the LEGO VIP program! Thanks to feedback we’ve had from our awesome VIP customers, we’ve been working on some great ideas that will make your membership even better.

WE’RE MAKING THINGS BETTER – In the coming months, we’ll be launching an online rewards center that will introduce some new ways to earn and spend VIP points. To support our Planet Promise, we’ll also be going digital with VIP cards. Physical cards will be available for anyone who still wants one.

WHEN IT’S ALL HAPPENING – We’re working hard on the updates and you’ll see the first changes come into effect in two months from now.

YOUR POINTS WILL STILL BE AVAILABLE – All your existing VIP points will still be available and worth the exact same value. All your points will be valid for at least 18 months. We’ll reset the clock on all your points every time you earn or spend any points, so you can use them for longer. Yay! You’ll still be able to use your points to get discounts at LEGO stores and at the Online LEGO Shop. You’ll also be able to manage your points through the online rewards center (you’ll need an Internet connection to access it).

DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING? – For the time being, we suggest you make sure that your VIP account is registered. This means that your VIP account is linked to an online LEGO account. To register your VIP account, head over and register here. You can check whether you’re registered already by logging in with your LEGO account at VIP.LEGO.com, as all your VIP info will appear right there. We’ll also be making sure that each VIP account has a unique email address. Accounts that use the same email address will be merged together and accounts with more than one email address will be split into separate accounts.

That’s all for now! More info will be on the way and full terms and conditions will be available on our website soon. We can’t wait to share more with you, so keep an eye out for emails from the LEGO VIP team.

Currently, the LEGO VIP program offers reward points on every purchase, as well as early access to some new sets, and a few other perks. As you can see, the email doesn’t say much about what changes are coming, but we should find out soon. I hope they are good! In the meantime, remember that until the end of March, LEGO is offering Double VIP Points on all purchases at LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? What changes would you like to see to the LEGO VIP program, if any? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

LEGO Tower Game – Design a Virtual Floor!

Last week, we discussed the upcoming LEGO Tower game, based on the classic mobile game called Tiny Tower by NimbleBit (see: LEGO Tower Mobile Game Coming Soon!). To celebrate the release of the game and to get LEGO fans excited about its potential, the LEGO Ideas team and the LEGO Games team collaborated to run a very cool contest with some even cooler prizes. Details below. 🙂

Design a virtual floor for the LEGO Tower game! If you could include your very own, customized floor in a LEGO Tower, how would it look? The LEGO Ideas team challenges you to build a virtual LEGO floor that fits within the brand new LEGO Tower game. Make sure you build an awesome place to hang out, because your design could end up in the actual LEGO Tower game launching this summer. So, open your digital LEGO building tool and unleash your creativity to get your very own floor included in the LEGO Tower game!

As usual with LEGO Ideas contests, this contest will also include three phases. During the submission phase, LEGO fans can submit their entries. The deadline to make a submission is May 2nd, 2019 at 6:00 AM EST. It is recommended that you submit your entry 2-3 days before the deadline in the event the LEGO Ideas team requests you to make some changes. During the judging phase, a panel of judges from the LEGO Games team will review the entries and choose the winners. This will take place by May 10th. The last phase is the winners’ announcement, which will be no later than May 22nd.

If you are interested, here are the steps for entering the contest: 1.) Submissions must be built with a digital building tool such as LEGO Digital Designer. You’re welcome to use image editing tools, such as Photoshop, to enhance your photos/presentation. 2.) Take up to five photos of your creation and submit them to the contest. Make sure to show off all angles and any features or functions of your creation. Please submit your photos in as high a resolution as possible so that the details can be clearly. If possible, the shortest edge should be at least 1080 pixels. 3.) Add a title and short description. 4.) Upload your entry to the contest using the blue Submit Your Entry button on the LEGO Ideas contest page.

As mentioned above, your entry must be built with a digital building tool such as LEGO Digital Designer, or third-party 3D LEGO building software. You’re allowed to use all LEGO elements that can be found in the digital building tool, including LEGO System, LEGO DUPLO and LEGO Technic elements. Your entry should include one floor fitting the dimensions of the LEGO Tower as per the template and requirements in the blue box above. Unfortunately, elements exclusively from sets based on an intellectual property can’t be included in the LEGO Tower game, so please refrain from using elements related to third-party intellectual property, e.g. LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Harry Potter, or even The LEGO Movie. If an IP element is used mistakenly, and your submission is selected as a winner, the element in question will be removed/replaced before integration into the LEGO Tower game. Your submission may also not be based on any third-party intellectual property, e.g. Star Wars (or other entertainment franchises), automotive brands, existing buildings, etc. Also, don’t include any minifigures in your build. Please note that you have to be at least 13 years old at the time of entering the contest. There are some other rules to consider, which you can find at the LEGO Ideas contest page.

Six winners will get their winning room integrated into the LEGO Tower game launching this summer. On top of that, each winner will get the #10264 LEGO Creator Expert Corner Garage, the #21213 LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle, a $200 shopping spree at the Online LEGO Shop, and a very special unlock feature in the new LEGO Tower game.

Winners will be contacted on the email address associated with their LEGO ID account after May 10th, 2019. Winners will be announced on LEGO Ideas when all winners have returned the signed Winner’s Certification Documents. A winner who does not return their Winner’s Certification Document within one week (5 days) of receiving it will be disqualified, and a new winner will be selected.

What do you think? Have you ever played the Tiny Tower game? Are you looking forward to the LEGO Tower game? And do you plan to enter the contest? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉
