While we are waiting for further episodes of LEGO NINJAGO: Rise of the Snakes, I thought to summarize what we know so far about the NINJAGO storyline. Yes, there are rumors that the Green Ninja is Lloyd Garmadon, and while there is compelling evidence to support this, the fact remains that we won’t know for sure until Episode 10. And since Sensei Wu warned us about the destructive power of rumors, let’s just stick to the facts we know so far from the first 5 episodes. So here we go:
➡ LEGO NINJAGO – EPISODE 1: RISE OF THE SNAKES
In the first episode of Ninjago Rise of the Snakes we find Sensei Wu trying to motivate his four students (Kai, Jay, Zane and Cole) to continue training even at the time of peace, as there is the possibility of the return of Lord Garmadon (Sensei Wu’s evil older brother) to get the four weapons of Spinjitsu. However the four ninja prefer to spend their days playing video games. Shortly after, they get news that Lord Garmadon has been spotted in a nearby village. The four ninja leave to face Lord Garmadon, only to find that the intruder is actually Garmadon’s son, Lloyd – a small boy, who escaped from the boarding school for bad boys, and is now creating trouble around the village by stealing all the candy. The four ninja easily run him out of town, and Lloyd promises revenge. As the ninja prepare to return home they discover that Kai has accidentally taken Sensei Wu’s bag, containing a scroll that tells of a prophecy; one ninja will rise above the others and become the Green Ninja, who is destined to defeat the Dark Lord. The four ninja all believe that one of them is going to be the Green Ninja, and decide to hold a tournament to find out who is the best amongst them. In the process they almost burn down the monastery. Sensei Wu scolds his pupils about their foolishness. Meanwhile, as Lloyd wonders around fuming over his defeat, he uncovers one of the tombs of the Serpentine, the ancient snake-people locked away long ago. After accidentally hypnotizing the Hypnobrai leader (blue/gray snakes), Lloyd takes command of the snakes, and wreaks havoc in the same village by having the snakes hypnotize all the villagers. The four ninja rush to the village and defeat the Hypnobrai, then use the anti-venom found in their staff to cure the villagers. The four ninja promise to train hard for the troubling times lying ahead caused by the release of the Serpentine.

➡ LEGO NINJAGO – EPISODE 2: HOME
In the second episode of Ninjago Rise of the Snakes we find the ninja in their daily life at the monastery. It is revealed that Zane is an orphan and he never knew his parents. In the meantime at the Forest of Tranquility, Lloyd instructs the Hypnobrai to create a fortress for him to rule Ninjago. Some of the snakes however are not happy about serving the silly orders of a small boy and conspire against their leader, who has been hypnotized by Lloyd. Later that night, when Zane takes out the trash, he notices a falcon that mimics his every move. As the falcon flies away Zane decides follow. The falcon leads Zane to Lloyd’s tree-house. The following day Zane comes back with the other ninja to destroy Lloyd’s fortress. Things go a bit awry though when one of the snake-people hypnotizes Cole, causing him to attack the other ninja. However Sensei Wu comes to the rescue with a magic flute that breaks the spell. After destroying the fort, they all return to the monastery only to find it burnt to the ground by the snake-people. Zane follows the falcon again, which leads him to an abandoned ship that will become our heroes’ new home. Meanwhile, at the Hypnobrai tomb, one of the snakes, challenges the current leader of the tribe to fight for command of the tribe, and he wins. The new leader banishes Lloyd, demanding he never returns. Lloyd leaves, but he also takes with him a map he found at the tomb with the location of the other snake-tribes.

➡ LEGO NINJAGO – EPISODE 3: SNAKEBIT
In the third episode of Ninjago Rise of the Snakes Lloyd uses the stolen map to find the Fangpyre snake-tribe’s (red/white snakes) tomb, where he offers an alliance to get revenge on both the Hypnobrai and the ninja. The tribe’s general agrees, but first he wants to build up his army by using the special ability of the members of his tribe; they can transform anything they bite into snakes. Meanwhile, Jay’s parents pay a visit to the ninja headquarters and ask Jay to visit them soon. Jay’s parents run a junkyard, and when they get home they get assaulted by the Fangpyre. Jay’s parents get bitten by the Serpentine and begin their transformation into snakes! In addition the snakes also bite into the old vehicles in the junkyard, turning them into snake-mobiles. The following day Jay keeps his promise and visits his parents, along with the other ninja, Sensei Wu, and Nya. When they arrive, they find Jay’s parents captive turning more and more into snakes! The Fangpyre fight the ninja, who are finally able to rescue Jay’s parents. Sensei Wu explains that only to change Jay’s parents back is to get the anti-venom from the snake-staff the Fangpyre leader carries. However the Fangpyre (along with Lloyd) begin to retreat, carrying the staff with them. After discovering their weapons have the ability to transform into vehicles, Jay uses his plane to steal the snake-staff. The four ninja, Sensei Wu, Nya, and Jay’s parents quickly return to their headquarters and administer the anti-venom to Jay’s parents. In the meantime however the Fangpyre catch up with them, ready to attack and retrieve the snake-staff. Jay’s father is able to repair the defense system on the ship just in time for a quick escape.

➡ LEGO NINJAGO – EPISODE 4: NEVER TRUST A SNAKE
In the fourth episode of Ninjago Rise of the Snakes Zane has a dream about the Green Ninja fighting Lord Garmadon and tells the other ninja about it during their training. Sensei Wu, seeing their distraction, gives the ninja a riddle to solve: “What is the best way to defeat an enemy?” Meanwhile Lloyd and the Fangpyre prepare to attack the Hypnobrai (the Serpentine who betrayed Lloyd in the first episode). However, it turns out that the leaders of the two tribes are actually friends and they betray Lloyd. Lloyd then finds the tomb of the Anacondrai (purple snake), the third snake-tribe. Pythor is the last surviving member of his tribe (there is an indication that he devoured them all). The two of them become friends and create havoc around Ninjago. They also take over Lloyd’s boarding school that kicked him out previously. The four ninja arrive to stop their mischief. As Pythor and Lloyd get cornered on the roof of the school-building, Pythor betrays Lloyd and also steals his map before disappearing. The ninja capture Lloyds and take him back to their headquarters, discussing what kind of punishment they should bestow upon him. However instead of punishing the boy, Sensei Wu reads him a bedtime story about why snakes should never be trusted. The ninja are confused about Sensei Wu’s leniency. Sensei Wu finally reveals the answer to his previous riddle: “The best way to defeat and enemy is to make them your friend”.

➡ LEGO NINJAGO – EPISODE 5: CAN OF WORMS
In the fifth episode of Ninjago Rise of the Snakes Lloyd Garmadon plays tricks on the ninja – by the order of Sensei Wu – to teach them about the destructive power of rumors. One of Lloyd’s tricks is to mix up Zane’s (the white ninja) laundry with Kai’s (the red ninja), which makes Zane’s ninja suit turn pink! poor Zane! (But interestingly, later in the story being pink is what saves Zane, and ultimately the other ninja.) They then split up into two teams – Kai with Jay and Zane with Cole – to locate the last two Serpentine tombs before Pythor can find them and unite the snake tribes. However they are two late and Cole and Zane get attacked by a member of the Constrictai tribe (black/orange snakes). They escape however and hurry to help Kai and Jay who had been attacked by Pythor and the Venomari tribe (green snakes). The four ninjas get overpowered by the snakes, however at the last minute a mysterious samurai saves them (who is Nya in disguise). The ninja then head over to Ninjago city to stop the tribes uniting. They use the power of rumors to their advantage and to stop the tribes from forming a truce, but eventually they get captured, except Zane. Zane then frees the others and they manage to escape, leaving Serpentine in disarray.

Pythor declares himself to be the destined leader who will reawaken The Great Devourer – an ancient beast who can’t be killed and will consume all of Ninjago.

When the four ninja follow the mysterious falcon into the woods, they stumble on a hidden work shop where Zane learns the secret about his past and in the process, he is the first ninja to unlock his true potential.

Jay and Nya have to cut their first date in Mega-Monster Amusement Park short as the Serpentine are on their way to retrieve the first or four fang blades to be used to awaken the Great Devourer.

The four ninja go undercover as a dance troupe and enter a talent contest in their quest to win “The Blade Cup” where one of the fang blades is hidden.

The ninjas are suspicious when Lord Garmadon moves in to help searching for his missing son – but realize they have to work together in their attempt to rescue Lloyd from the snakes finding out he is the Green Ninja.

The ninja and Sensei Wu try to infiltrate the Serpentines’ inner sanctum and walk right into a trap, and when Lloyd’s rescue mission fails, there is only one person who can help them, namely the evil Lord Garmadon.

- Is Lloyd really the Green Ninja? If so, how did he become the best ninja of all? And what will his daddy think? 😯
- Will Pythor be able to unite the 5 snake-tribes?
- How does Lord Garmadon fits into this whole story? So far we have only seen him in Zane’s dream. 😕
- Who is the falcon who keeps helping Zane? And will he ever find out about his family?
