LEGO Star Wars Death Star II stop-motion

A few months back I shared with you a LEGO Star Wars stop-motion video by Francisco Prieto featuring the #10179 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon (see: LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon Stop-Motion). Since the Francisco made another stop-motion rendering of another Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series set, the #10143 LEGO Star Wars Death Star II, released in 2005.

Here Francisco used the same means as in the previous LEGO video, using 3ds-Max and V-Ray, however he changed all the pieces to now contain the LEGO logo. He also used more detailed geometry, better illumination, and a continuous camera-movement without cuts and clippings. All in all the video rendering took 1,511 hours. Check it out below! ;)

If you don’t have the LEGO Star Wars Death Star, but would like to build one after watching this video, unfortunately it is no longer available directly from LEGO. You can still find it on eBay, but yeah, the prices our sky high. (Original price was $270.) Here are some listings I found:

So how did you like the LEGO Star Wars video? Let me know what you think in the comment section below. Also, you may want to head over to the Featured LEGO Creations section for more fun LEGO videos:

the dedication the guy has to spend all those hours rendering and building the individual bricks and animating them. coming from a video family, i know what all those terms are, and it gives me a deep respect for his work.

I love the animation and detail he used in this film. If I had the time I may try to do that, but I am a HORRIBLE animator, so I would probably fail at it. :)
