I’m not sure when the other, smaller 2013 LEGO Friends sets will be added to LEGO’s website, but I would suggest to keep an eye out for them. LEGO may add those early as well. Here is the link to the LEGO Friends page: LEGO Friends at the Online LEGO Shop

LEGO Friends have been hugely successful with girls, many of them even taking up the LEGO hobby when previously had shown no interest. LEGO got heavy criticism that the sets are promoting too much “girly” activities, although LEGO made an endeavor from the beginning to add sets that focus on science, hobbies and crafts. (And what is exactly wrong with being a girly girl?) In the 2013 LEGO Friends sets we will get even more variety with Emma practicing karate, Mia magic tricks, and Stephanie playing soccer. You can check out all the 2013 LEGO Friends sets here: 2013 LEGO Sets: LEGO Friends – More Coming! And see the currently available LEGO Friends sets here: LEGO Friends at the Online LEGO Shop

What do you think of the new LEGO Friends sets? I know a lot of adults get these sets just for the accessories and the lovely colors. How do you like them? What else would you wish Friends would do? Share your thoughts in the comment section below! 😉

admin: has anyone ever come on here and started cursing? besides KIND BOO XDDX >:(

  • NinjaNut December 7, 2012, 7:35 AM

I myself don’t care about friends but it isn’t as bad as some themes like spongebob. By the way Admin do yo have any info about 2013 ninjago sets?

    • yeah sponge bob sucks! its the worst show ever to! 🙄

    • gid617 December 7, 2012, 10:01 AM

As in when they’ll show up? I don’t think we know yet, but my guess is somewhere before the 15th. It wouldn’t make much sense for LEGO to leave such a well selling theme until January when it will have to compete with Chima (which I’m sure will sell well!)

      • admin December 7, 2012, 7:00 PM

I really hope that’s true! I don’t see why LEGO would hold off the last wave of Ninjago sets until January! It just doesn’t make sense – as you said. On the other hand there is no sign of the sets anywhere. And TRU usually release LEGO sets at least 2 weeks before LEGO does. That doesn’t sound good. 😕

        • gid617 December 7, 2012, 7:38 PM

I don’t pay attention to what TRU does, but have they released the TMNT yet (not that it really makes any difference, since LEGO isn’t selling them yet anyways). But were they selling Galaxy Squad early?

          • admin December 7, 2012, 9:09 PM

Gen, both TRU and LEGO are selling Galaxy Squad, but I haven’t seen any TMNT sets at my local TRU. I don’t think they are out yet.

            • gid617 December 8, 2012, 5:19 AM

Yeah, especially since LEGO droped their released date to the 24th… though I’m not sure why they would do that…
The January Ninjago release is all sold out, along with most of the spinners and booster packs (not Bytar’s or Lizaru’s), wonder if that would make any difference? I had been hoping the Fire Temple would last long enough for me to get it though… 😕

    • admin December 7, 2012, 6:57 PM

Yeah, SpongeBob is the absolute worst LEGO theme I have seen. But it is not LEGO’s fault. The cartoon itself is so lame it is painful to watch. But the LEGO SpongeBob sets have been around for 6 years – it obviously have some fans. Although it is beyond me why LEGO is cointinuing such a lame theme and discontinue Ninjago. I’m pretty sure Ninjago have more fans than SpongeBob! At least I hope so! 😕

Hadn’t notice the ice cream cone before! Looks nice (though I like using unicorn horns for ice cream too… 🙄 )
The only friends sets I’m really interested in would be the small ones with just animals, and maybe the treehouse (which was pretty neat). Not much else!

    • admin December 7, 2012, 7:00 PM

Yeah, the ice-cream cone is a must! 🙄

My five year old loves the LEGO friends line. She has about 7 or 8 of them and loves building/playing with them (where she was previously mildly interested in her older brother LEGO sets). She recently asked for the Summer Riding Camp (#3185) for Christmas. Luckily LEGO.com just go them back in stock on Wednesday because they were showing as out of stock with estimated ship date of 12/22; and the exclusive distributor (TRU) is still out of stock. The prices that are being listed on eBay and secondary retailers on Amazon are outrageous for it.

I hope that LEGO plans on introducing more characters to the line. They don’t necessarily need to be part of the main five friends that are used in all of their marketing material. But, it would just be nice to see some supporting characters. It is going to get old in a few years (after picking up more sets) and having many versions of the same five girls.

Lastly, the Friends advent calendar was disappointing. I know that it was limited production (apparently because LEGO wasn’t happy with it). Regardless, the contents of the set wasn’t impressive. Plus, it only had two minifigs. I didn’t bother picking it up (even if pricing was reasonable on secondary market), so my daughter has the City advent calender (son got the Star Wars versions). I’m happy that they had two female characters in the City set.

  • yeah one of them needs a boyfriend:P

    • admin December 8, 2012, 9:07 AM

That is a fantastic idea!LEGO castle and LEGO LOTR/Hobbit is perfectly compatible! It would be kind of like the now retired LEGO Fantasy Castle theme with humans, elves, dwarves, dragons, etc. That was my favorite LEGO theme, ever! 😀

  • Brickingdomboy December 7, 2012, 10:13 PM
