LEGO Minifigures Series 9 detailed pictures!

We have talked about the upcoming LEGO minifigure series in the past couple of weeks (see: LEGO Minifigure Series 9 Teaser Pictures and LEGO Minifigure Series 9-10-11 News!), and today we can finally take a good look at LEGO Minifigures Series 9, thanks to WhiteFang at Eurobricks who acquired an entire box of Series 9 early and provided a full review! So let’s dive in and check out these little guys! 😛

First of all here is the full box image for LEGO Minifigures Series 9. As you can see the packages this time are a darker shade of silver-gray.

And here are all the 16 LEGO Minifigures in Series 9! According to many LEGO fans this is one of the best minifigure series released. Every single minifigure is interesting and unique – no deadbeats or slackers here. We also get lots of new moulds, new colors, new prints and new accessories!

And here is a better look at each of the minifigures, starting with the Waiter and the Cyclops. A lot of people are excited about the Cyclops (with a dual-sided head), but the waiter is excellent too with that beautifully printed green bottle and new tray!

And here is the LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Hollywood Starlet with a really sweet new hair-mould. The Heroic Knight comes with a nice shield, printed legs, printed armor, and a new short-sword.

One of the most exciting minifigures in Series 9 is the Roman Emperor. It will go really well with the previously released Roman Soldier and Gladiator. And although most of us have plenty of LEGO policemen already, this one is really nice with a dark-blue uniform instead of black, and a brand new police-hat!

The LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Chicken Suit Guy is going to be a perfect addition to the other animal-suit figures, and the Roller Derby Girls roller-skates have been long past due!

The LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Fortune Teller is an absolutely unique minifigure and would be an interesting character in many LEGO scenes. I wish she would have a crystal ball though! The judge with his powdered wig and hammer is another unique character. Both the wig and the hammer/mallet are going to be useful accessories.

The LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Alien Avenger and Mermaid are some of my favorites in this series. I always wanted that armor piece in different color than the previously available dark-blue, and the mermaid is very pretty with a rare hair-piece in a new color, and the star-fish has been very rare too! She is a real treasure!

The LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Battle Mech is most likely going to be very popular with kids. It is also a nice companion to the new LEGO Galaxy Squad line. And Mr. Good & Evil (also referred to as Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde is a great addition to the other evil characters in LEGO Monster Fighters.

The LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Forest Maiden is undoubtedly the sweetest minifigure in the series. She comes with a very pretty new hair-mould and a beautiful shield. She could fit right in with the famous LEGO Forestmen, or even the elves. The plumber comes with a new cap, and a new plunger. And I always liked minifigs in overalls. 🙄

And that completes the Series 9 Minifigures. If you would like to see more detailed pictures from different angles and without armor pieces and other accessories, check out WhiteFang’s full review over at Eurobricks.

One other thing I would like to mention here is that according to WhiteFang the distribution in a full box of 60 is as follows: 2 Waiter, 6 Cyclops, 2 Hollywood Starlet, 6 Heroic Knight, 4 Roman Emperor, 6 Policeman, 4 Chicken Suit Guy, 2 Roller Derby Girl, 2 Fortune Teller, 4 Judge, 6 Alien Avenger, 4 Mermaid, 4 Battle Mech, 4 Mr. Good & Evil, 2 Forest Maiden, 2 Plumber. Which means that you can only get two full sets per box. This is really unfortunate, as LEGO could have easily added 3 full sets. Luckily, most of the “army-builder” minifigures like the knights and aliens are readily available, but I’m really sad there is only 2 Forest Maidens per box. She would be a great addition to the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit sets or as an elf or forest maiden in any fantasy or LEGO Castle creation.

So what do you think? How do you like the LEGO Minifigure Series 9 characters? And which one is your favorite? How does this series compares to the previous ones in your opinion? Share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

  • Micho December 4, 2012, 11:30 AM

OH YEEES!!!!!!!!! I love em ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Micho December 4, 2012, 11:40 AM

So many to choose from I can’t choose a favorite. First off, look at all the awesome female faces!!! I’m really torn between the Mermaid and Maid Marion, look at Maid Marion’s hair!!! But the mermaid so different than the previous ones which is awesome, I have so many possibilities for my Atlantis Kingdom now. Oh the Cyclops, WOW!!! He didn’t look THAT awesome from behind, and the Knight… YOWZAAA!!!!! The Starlett is so beautiful, like a mini Charlize Theron… heck even the rollerderby girl is awesome!!! CHICKEN SUIT GUUUUUY!!!!!!!!!! BKAAAWK!!!
I am really excited with this series, it is difinetly my all time favorite!!! It’s gonna be really hard to top this, this series just gives us so many customizing possibilities, specially for fantasy and historic theme collectors like me.

  • Micho: i bet you love that knight! 😛

    • Micho December 4, 2012, 11:46 AM

You bet I do!!! ;-)… but honestly… it’s so hard to love just one!!! These are all great!!!

  • my sister will love that Mermaid! and she will go great with medieval lands! i want to start making a HUGE lego medieval land! cool right? 😀

  • heres my top 5!

    #1. Dr. Spiltz
    #2. Mermaid
    #3. Caesar
    #4. Battle Mech
    #5. Heroic Knight
#6. Judge (only because my Dad is a lawyer) 😛

  • Padawan Ahsoka Tano December 4, 2012, 11:41 AM

The mermaid and forest maiden are gorgeous! I will definitely be adding those to my collection. One of the best series yet.

  • Nick Nox December 4, 2012, 11:43 AM

Agreed, a lovely batch of figs. I’m not sure about that cyclops tho :-S …looks more alien than mythological to me 😉 Is that knight’s visor flat gray or metalic/pearlescent? It looks flat gray to me. I think metalic/ pearlescent would have looked more realistic.

    • Micho December 4, 2012, 11:52 AM

yeah, looks flat gray, I agree with you. I have plenty of those flat gray visors from the 90s, but I’m not gonna complain… I still want it!!! 😀

  • Micho December 4, 2012, 11:55 AM

I’m going to do the following once I have these three…
Mermaid body + Fortune Teller’s face + Maid Marion’s Hair= Ariel The Little Mermaid singing. I’m positive I will get multiples of many of these figures like I did last time.

    • admin December 4, 2012, 2:34 PM

That’s a lovely idea! (heart smiley goes here) 😉

      • Micho December 4, 2012, 3:36 PM

Why thank you, I do fancy the idea myself 🙂

  • cangooooo December 4, 2012, 1:12 PM

    the best serie ! My favourites are cyclops,heroic knight,policeman(for hat),fortune teller,mermaid,forest maiden
    thanks for the news 🙂

  • NinjaNut December 4, 2012, 2:05 PM

    Need The Toilet Plunger

    • admin December 4, 2012, 2:33 PM

An essential item in any hosehold. 🙄

  • Quad December 4, 2012, 2:07 PM

YAY! Printed arms! Now maybe we’ll eventually get some minifigs in T-shirts!

    • admin December 4, 2012, 2:33 PM

Yeah, we have been waiting for those, didn’t we? 😀

  • Håkan, Sweden December 4, 2012, 2:13 PM

I love the attitude of the derby girl. Most explicitly female faces so far have been either docile or flirty, but this one really has a determined don’t-mess-with-me-look.

And ditto on the T-shirts. Would come in handy for custom Big Bang Theory minifigs and such.

    • admin December 4, 2012, 2:33 PM

Big Bang Theory minifigs? Would love to see that! 😉

  • pythor953 December 4, 2012, 2:21 PM

Wow! I never noticed the alien in previous images but now he’s a must have. The cyclops is just as good as I expected and the battle mech is growing on me again…

    • Micho December 4, 2012, 3:39 PM

Yeah, once we get Flash minifigures you could combine Tshirt arms with superhero shirts and you got Sheldon… very cool!!!

  • pythor953 December 4, 2012, 2:22 PM

OMG I’ve just noticed who the waiter reminds me of. Cole’s dad from ninjago! I’ll be adding him to my wish list now I’ve noticed.

  • nicster2000 December 4, 2012, 2:51 PM

This series is absolutely marvelous 😀 Excuse me waiter but I will order the…WHOLE SERIES with an extra siding of Chicken(suit guy),and the fortune teller predictions is no lie that I WILL definitely get the WHOLE series!!!!!

  • Jacob December 4, 2012, 3:29 PM

Surprised no talk about the change in distribution.

2 per box : Waiters, Hollywood starlets, roller derby girls, fortune tellers, forest maidens, plumbers

4 per box: Roman emperors, Chicken suit guys, Judges, Mermaids, Battle mechs, Mr Good/evil

6 per box: Cyclops, Knights, Policemen, Alien avengers

Some of these distributions I am relatively fine with (Aliens are army builders, and I don’t see too many people wanting duplicates of the Scarlet.) However, I don’t see too many people wanting more than one or two Cyclops (especially since he is olive green, not yellow like I was hoping). However, I do want multiples of the waiters, roller derby girls, forest maidens, and plumbers, and don’t have much use for duplicates of the judge, chicken suit, Jekyll/ Mr. Hyde, Roman Emperor, or (as he has the same logo as existing an existing faction that I already have 25+ of) the Good knight. Also, Although I don’t hate the cyclops despite his odd color choice, I don’t think too many people want an army of them. I only see people wanting one of two of the cyclops, versus the 4 or 5+ of the waiters for a restaurant, or derby girls for a Roller derby team (and you need two teams).

Overall, though I think the minifigures look good, I am very disappointed about the new distribution scheme. Although I like that they seem to (in some cases) favor certain figures that are going to be sought after in multiples more. However, I would much rather see all of them have at least 3 per box so people who feel for a specific one can actually find it, and leave some for everyone else. I’m afraid that cherry picked box issues are only going to get worse.

    • admin December 4, 2012, 4:08 PM

Yeah, I was surprized that nobody commented on the distribution either (before you), even though I addressed it in the article. I guess everyone got mesmerized by the pictures. You guys are an easy crowd! A new minifig winks at us and we get all mushy. 🙄

    • gid617 December 4, 2012, 5:30 PM

Yeah, I don’t particularly like the new distribution either. Not enough waiters and too many Aliens and Battle Mechs (even if I love the Mech, that doesn’t mean I want an army! 😀 ). Though it is nice that the Knight and Ceaser are in the sixes.

      • Micho December 4, 2012, 6:49 PM

The distribution doesn’t bother me since I got pretty good at feeling for individuals, the mermaids, knights and women’s skirts are so easy to feel for. And as far as spending time feeling around, it doesn’t bother me, I don’t have much more to do while wifey spends three hours looking around at Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe since they closed all the movie and music stores in the last years.

  • KING_BOO_XDDX December 4, 2012, 3:54 PM

Ok time to fix my 3 kings wish list again :] LEGO well freaking done with 2013 im getting most of em ‘-‘ whats next? cuz this is crazy btw you hypnotised me with this admin!

    • admin December 4, 2012, 4:19 PM

LOL! Just make sure you are not operating heavy equipment while looking at the pictures! 🙄

  • Ninjoey December 4, 2012, 3:55 PM

the forrest maiden’s hair looks a lot like ginny weasly’s hair (from lego harry potter)

    • admin December 4, 2012, 4:10 PM

Yes, looks similiar, but without the braids. BTW, that has been one of my favorite hair-pieces. I only have one though and I gave it to one of my cheerleaders.

      • Micho December 5, 2012, 8:41 AM

I used that hairpiece for my current Ariel LOL… gonna make a new one though 🙂

  • haha Forrest maiden is Merida from the movie Brave!

  • Micho: about the singing Aerial ya know well if i am not mistaken she is…um..not dressed……

  • one more thing, admin when will series 9 be available?

    • admin December 4, 2012, 4:13 PM

They just got listed on LEGO’s website this morning, but not in the shop yet. But I expect it to be soon! Definitely before the end of the month. 🙄

  • wow i am surprised lego made a wine bottle! 🙄

  • gid617 December 4, 2012, 5:15 PM

Am I the only one not so crazy about at least part of this series? The faces are really what I like least, especially on the Judge and the Emperor. Still, I really like the Battle Mech, don’t ask me why, I doubt I’d ever be able to use it! 😀 Plumber looks nice too, I have one short brown stick but could use another one! I like the Fortune Teller’s face though I wish it were more like a generic woman from the… iron age? era, with a candle or something…
Forest lady is nice except I can’t say I like that hair/face. And Dr. Good and Evil is cool, plus I’d like a purple vial!

    • admin December 4, 2012, 5:28 PM

Candles would be really nice! I would vote for that! Other than that this is the first series so far where I will get every single minifig. It is of course expected that not everyone will like everything in the series. The good thing about LEGO though is that you can always change out the faces, accessories or whatever else you don’t like. 😉

      • gid617 December 5, 2012, 5:54 AM

Interesting that you want every single one – my list would look like this:
Waiter – yes, Cyclops – no, Starlet – no (probably my least favorite), Good Knight – maybe… (I like the armor, the sword is ok, but I don’t like the face or the helment, and the shield isn’t particularly great), Roman Emperor – yes (I’d want several of this guy, ideally. I like eveything but his face), Policeman – maybe, Chicken Suit buy – maybe (I have the rest of the “suit guys”, so I’d want it to continue the collection. But I really wish he had something like feather markings on his torso!), Roller Derby Girl – no, Fortune Teller – yes (I wish it were something else, especially as I’m bound to find those cards almost compleatly useless, but I like the body), Judge – maybe (gaville!), Alien Avenger – no, Mermaid – maybe (starfish!), Battle Mech – yes, Mr. Good and Evil – yes, Forest Maiden – yes (even though I don’t like the hair/face), Plumber, yes. Overall, out of the 16 figs, I said yes to 7 and maybe to 5, and the other 4 no. Which would not be a bad series except that I don’t like parts of even most of the ones I said yes to. It’s still not that bad, but I liked S7 better! 😀

        • Micho December 5, 2012, 8:45 AM

Do some face and air swapping Geneva, that’s like the best part for me… You should see all the cool forest figures and outlaws that I made because of the same reasons.

          • gid617 December 5, 2012, 1:52 PM

Well, I don’t really have that much hair to swap… but yeah, I don’t like haveing all my minifigs exactly the same, so different faces would be the way to go! 😉

        • I don’t think series 7 was super great. I mean it had some cool figs like the Viking Woman and the Computer Nerd, but some of them were not that great.

        • admin December 5, 2012, 10:03 AM

Geneva, thanks for sharing! Yes, Series 7 was very good! And this one is good too, IMHO. I think LEGO is doing a good job providing interesting minifigures in the Series with unique parts and accessories. Of course not all of them is going to be for everyone, but it is a good thing that we have lots of choices! 🙂

Kind of a different topic, but I was interviewed by the NY Times for an article they are going to publish this weekend about LEGO. I’m not sure how much of the interview is going to be part of the finished article, but it was fun. The reporter had great questions. I will tell you guys more about it later.

If TBB crashes this weekend due to a surge of traffic, you guys know it is all their fault, not mine. I do have my developer lined up to trouble-shoot as much as possible. The Times is huge, and one well written/interesting article can easily crash even much bigger websites than TBB. I’m bracing myself. 🙄

          • Micho December 5, 2012, 10:57 AM

OH WOW!!! I believe congratulations are in order!!! That’s HUGE!!!

            • admin December 5, 2012, 11:06 AM

Thanks! But the congratulations is for all of us! For the Times to notice and pick up the story of our community is awesome! So we can just give each other high-fives! 😉

              • gid617 December 5, 2012, 1:50 PM

                High-five then! 😀
Yeah, I mostly collect the CMFs to use them in MOCs, though I’m not quite sure why S7 aways pops into my head as the best series, (perhaps because 7 is the perfect number… 😛 ), maybe because I found the Evil Knight very useful (other than the head!), I really liked the Viking Lady (though I never got one! 😥 ), Aztec, the Computer Geek, Galaxy Patrol, Grandma Visitor (because of the basket), Bunny, Bagpipe player, Tennis Player, I liked how the hippie and bride had flowers minifigs could hold, and the Tarzan had a nice torso (and hair), and I like the Daredevil. I guess that’s almost everybody… which is probably why it’s my favorite Series! 😀 Anyway, like Micho said, I’ll probably be swaping heads on some of these! 😉

              • Micho December 5, 2012, 4:57 PM

Thank you… anyway you put it… you are still the glue that keeps us together, thank you for your time and patience with us =)

                • admin December 5, 2012, 9:18 PM

You are welcome! And thank you guys for hanging out! Blogging would be quite boring without readers. 😉

          • YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ninjoey December 4, 2012, 5:24 PM

what i don’t get, is WHY IS THE HEROIC KNIGHT’S SWORD ROUNDED? WHY DIDN’T THEY USE THE SWORDS FROM LOTR OR OTHER MIDEVIL MINIFIGURES? AAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!! besides that, he looks pretty cool!

    • Ddriom December 31, 2012, 8:17 PM

My favorite is the fortune teller because she come from Romania were I’m from

  • Tydroid December 4, 2012, 5:48 PM

Good thing its not the SHORT rounded sword.

  • legosw December 4, 2012, 7:13 PM

i want dr. jekl & mr. hyde!

  • Micho: i have a question, is the kingdoms jousting set a good set and is worth the money?

    • Micho December 5, 2012, 8:37 AM

Well that depends… I thought the Imperial Flagship wasn’t worth $179… boy was I wrong, I wish I would have gotten multiples at that price. However before it being retired it went down to $130 for a few days. So with Joust I would wait for it to probably go down to the $80 to $100 range and get two so you can have the fancy big wall… that’s my plan anyway. But to answer your question, I do think it’s worth the cash.

  • lego chronicler December 4, 2012, 8:00 PM

I want the chicken suit guys, the cyclops, and the policeman :)) I like chicken suits 😀

  • cangooooo December 5, 2012, 11:08 AM

    5. Chicken Suit Guy
    6. Alien

    • 2x4 Brick December 5, 2012, 7:34 PM

(i secretly want the mermaid the most 😛 ) well guess it isn’t a secret anymore! I think the real reason i like the limited edition mini figures is that they all have unique heads! 🙄

      • 2x4 Brick December 5, 2012, 7:35 PM

Hmm, the blush didn’t work i guess that was wrong… is it maybe :embarrassed: ?

  • 2x4 Brick December 11, 2012, 6:31 PM

Hey, you guys ever notice how often the mini figures go along with the new series coming out? Well, the Good Knight must be a sign that Castle is DEFINITELY coming back  (I hope)

    • admin December 11, 2012, 8:02 PM

      That’s a good notice! 😀

  • kimberly December 18, 2012, 8:05 PM

My fiancée and I spent about an hour and a half looking for them all in or local Lego store. When we came home we ended up with out the waiter and the judge.

    • admin December 18, 2012, 9:39 PM

Kimberly, good job getting 14 out of the 16! 😀

  • myaw967 December 26, 2012, 5:15 AM

  • knight of bricks December 30, 2012, 11:02 AM

i think want a couple of forest maidens just cause they look nice but mostly i just the KNIGHTS!!!!!! because they go with the evil knight in series 7, thats why i bought 4 on ebay 🙂

  • The Dark Jedi December 30, 2012, 8:02 PM

I know this is random, but anybody notice that the forest maiden looks a bit like Merida from Brave? Just sayin’. 🙂

    • Micah January 2, 2013, 11:44 PM

      Yeah I’ve noticed that!

  • Micah January 2, 2013, 11:46 PM

Hey admin are you going to add lego galaxy squad to this website?

  • Lego lunitic January 4, 2013, 2:28 AM

I really want the mermaid for the series 7 ocean king

  • Micah January 6, 2013, 1:21 AM

Why did they make Galaxy Squad instead of just continuing Alien Conquest?

    • admin January 6, 2013, 10:01 AM

Micah, the life-cycle of most LEGO set series is a couple of years. Alien Conquest was no exception. There are some LEGO set series that last longer, and of course the major themes are always there; City, Castle, Pirates, Space, etc. However within those the sub-themes and story lines change to keep things fresh and interesting. Some series that are tied with movie licenses or those with more developed story-lines lasts longer.

I want to find red hair to make my mermaid look like Ariel.
The hair on the female firefighter in the advent calendar: does that come in red? It’s the right style.

  • Sophie November 28, 2013, 5:10 PM

I have mr gold but without the hat. Is he still worth anything to anyone?

    • admin November 28, 2013, 5:55 PM

Sophie, I’m sure he is still worth something to someone. You can try selling him on eBay in an auction format, just make sure you clearly describe that he is missing his hat. 😉
