Build LEGO Iron Man’s Hall of Armor!

In the May-June Issue of the LEGO Club Magazine there is this awesome picture of Tony Stark’s Laboratory and the Hall of Armor build from LEGO. The coolest part is that the step-by-step building instructions are shared and downloadable, so you can build your own! 🙂

LEGO Iron Man Hall of Armor

Here is the description from the LEGO Club Magazine: Inside his secret lab in his Malibu Mansion, Tony Stark builds his amazing suits of Iron Man armor, along with other scientific wonders. LEGO Master Builder Mark Roe built his own version of the armored Malibu Mansion’s laboratory that you can add to your LEGO Iron Man adventures! You can build this lab using pieces from your LEGO collection, and then add minifigures from your LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets.

Build LEGO Iron Man's Laboratory

In my opinion this LEGO Iron Man set is just awesome! It is not that big (built on a 16×32 stud LEGO baseplate), the LEGO pieces used are pretty common, and this is a great way to showcase your LEGO Iron Man minifigure collection. You can download the PDF instruction directly from the LEGO Club website by using the Club Code: STARK, or you can also download it here: DOWNLOAD

LEGO Club Website

For currently available LEGO Iron Man sets you check out the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets at the Online LEGO Shop. The #76006 LEGO Super Heroes Iron Man Sea Port Battle is an especially nice set with two Iron Man suits for only $20 to start building your Hall of Armor collection.

Nice! I like the SNOT techniques used on the base and the blue, translucent colors on the walls and around the Iron Man suits. Unfortunately I don’t have any of the Marvel or DC sets so I could build this but it would look weird without Tony Stark or any other Marvel characters.

Ah. I see that you’ve noticed this. I’ve already found this, of course, but I was slightly puzzled if this was supposed to be built out of some sets or one of those “build-from-your-collection” things.

    • mwhitt80 May 16, 2013, 11:22 AM

It looks like it’s combining elements of the Malibu Mansion Iron Man set and “build from your collection”.
The work stations/computers, the platform Tony is standing on, the robot, and the armor stands/windows behind the armor are all elements from the Mansion.

The structural building and floor are “build from your collection”

      • mwhitt80 May 16, 2013, 11:26 AM

I was wrong about the windows I didn’t look at the actual picture close enough and thought they were the window panels from the Mansion. Those are also build from your collection.

Yeah, I actually checked some weeks ago when I got my magazine, but at that time the download page was still under construction. I have been checking every day ever since when it finally showed up. BTW, I wrote this post last week as I’m currently out of town and can’t write. 😉

Hmm, maybe it’s a scheme from Lego so that you buy the Iron Man sets (note: there’s some suspicion in my comment).

    • Håkan May 16, 2013, 1:52 PM

      Some ulterior motives, there?… Hmmm….

  • ninja of stealth May 16, 2013, 1:01 PM

I obviously need some iron man sets! 😉

  • Strider May 16, 2013, 1:41 PM

Neat, it looks like a fun build. It is cool to see what Master Builders create in their free time, meaning the sets they make that are not official.

Exactly what does “by Admin” mean? In other articles it’s written by someone but “by Admin”. I don’t get it? Is Admin the lead contributor or what?

    • Bug May 16, 2013, 5:17 PM

I think it means that Admin posted it. Admin is short for administrator. So Admin runs the website.

    • admin May 16, 2013, 9:42 PM

Meneldur, TBB is actually my own blog – well, at least that’s how it started out. I wrote all the articles. Then it got really busy and now we have other contributors as well. I still write most of the posts, so when it just say “by Admin” it is written by me. If it is written by one of our contributors or guest-bloggers I make a note at the top of the article mentioning who wrote it, and link to their Contributor’s Page, or to their own website if they have one (in case of guest-bloggers). At some point I may set this up to make it more clear, but so far it just hasn’t bee a priority. But yeah, admin is me; the queen of TBB. 😉

I am actually alomost done with this, and I must say that it is worth the effort! I recommend getting this, and am really mad that it isn’t a Lego set! Would have saved me 10 dollars 🙂

    • Meneldur son of Garamar May 16, 2013, 5:18 PM

Nice! How much did you spend?

      • Sam Wolf May 16, 2013, 9:16 PM

Just 10, but I had the 2 Iron Man 3 sets ahead of time, which helped. I had to buy a LOT of the light grey flat pieces!

        • Richard May 20, 2013, 9:09 PM

Could you let me know which specific blocks you had to buy if you already own the new Iron Man 3 sets?

    • admin May 16, 2013, 9:44 PM

Sam, thanks for sharing that! I really like it too and plan to build it at some point. Just need to get that Iron Patriot armor. 😉

    • Bug May 16, 2013, 5:15 PM

You could try pick a brick on Lego.com

      • Håkan May 16, 2013, 6:45 PM

        Or bricklink.com

  • darcizrad May 16, 2013, 5:17 PM

    lik wat website

admin plse help wenever ur available

    • Bug May 16, 2013, 5:23 PM

http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Pick-A-Brick-ByTheme this is the web address. It is run by Lego and you can access it through themes on Lego.com/shop if the above link doesn’t work. It is rather expensive and takes a whole to ship though.

    • Meneldur son of Garamar May 16, 2013, 5:37 PM

I think I can help. Like Bug said, Pick a Brick is one place you can get it. Another place is http://www.SeanKenney.com and another is Toy Brick Brigade.com. Toy Brick Brigade sells used individual bricks and gets tons of used bricks every week (or so they say). One set-back with buying off of SeanKenney.com is that you have to be eighteen years of age or older to purchase bricks. You aren’t eighteen are you? So I would recommend asking your parents to buy the bricks off of SeanKenney.com if you decide to buy them off of there. Also Spareblocks.com has a massive selection. Hope I helped out, but really Admin is the one to ask.

      • admin May 16, 2013, 9:50 PM

Meneldur, Toy Brick Brigade is just one of the BrickLink stores. They are definitely a big store, not my favorite, but they are allright. Also they may not be the ones who have all the pieces for this set. I would just go to the main BrickLink page, create a Wanted List and see who has all the pices. And thanks for sharing and helping out! I’m out of town so I can’t be online as much as I’m normally, so your help to other readers is very much appreciated. 🙂

    • admin May 16, 2013, 9:37 PM

Darcizrad, I’m here. What I would do is go to BrickLink.com, which is the largest online LEGO marketplace. Create a Wanted List using the last page of the instructions, then see which seller has all, or at least most, of the pasts you are missing. You sould be able to get all teh parts from one or two sellers. And if you already have a good size LEGO collection you are already ahead of the game. 😉

  • Brad May 19, 2013, 1:02 AM

What’s that steering wheel thing with the trans-yellow round plate on it that’s attached to the work bench on the right supposed to be?

    • admin May 19, 2013, 2:49 PM

Brad, good question – maybe someone who saw the movie already can clarify. 🙂

      • Sanoreti June 1, 2013, 7:26 AM

Sorry, my comment was actually meant as a response to brad:

Oh, you know when tony tries to energize the reactor in iron man 2, and he puts it in a stand to hit it with an energy beam? I gues that is what it represents.

        • admin June 1, 2013, 9:42 AM

Sanoreti, no need to be sorry. Thanks for helping out another reader! 🙂

  • Sanoreti May 19, 2013, 8:36 PM

Andrew, I’m glad you like it! I agree; it’s really neat! 😀

  • Tom June 23, 2013, 9:04 AM

I know it’s a lot to ask but can anyone put up a list of the arts needed extra to those already included in the Malibu Mansion set please? Also does the Lab fit the Mansion on top like the Jabba’s Palace sets? Thanks!

    • admin June 23, 2013, 1:13 PM

Tom, that’s a good question about the sets fitting on top of eah other. I don’t know personally, but hopefully someone here can help you out. 🙂

I’m not sure, but you can download the intructions and figure out the piece-count from there. 😉
