LEGO Minecraft new sets coming!

in LEGO Exclusives

We have been slowly but steadily going though covering all the exciting LEGO news that has come out of the recent San Diego Comic-Con (see links at the end of this article). Today’s news is for LEGO Minecraft fans! There are new Minecraft sets on the way! 🙂

LEGO Minecraft Logo

As you might remember the first LEGO Minecraft set came out of the LEGO CUUSOO project and has been a huge hit with both LEGO and Minecraft fans. In fact at the Online LEGO Shop there is a note on the #21102 LEGO Minecraft set: “Due to overwhelming demand of this product there is a strict limit of 2 per order.” Even with that restriction the set is often sold out and unavailable. If you have been eyeing this set I would suggest you get one now as I know demand will go over the roof when the new Minecraft sets come out and people want to complete their collection. 🙄

LEGO Minecraft Available Now

At the San Diego Comic-Con LEGO announced that two more LEGO Minecraft  sets are going to be released soon. Below is the official press-release:

COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: SAN DIEGO (July 17, 2013) — Delighting LEGO and Minecraft fans across the globe, The LEGO Group today announced it is extending its relationship with Swedish game developer Mojang to build on the blockbuster success of its first LEGO Minecraft building set to add two new models that will be released September 1, 2013.

LEGO Minecraft provides the opportunity to build, reconfigure and create new Minecraft micro-worlds in a physical LEGO way. The two new 3″x3″x3″ models, The Village and The Nether, are on display for the first time at Comic-Con International in San Diego. Fans can also enjoy and take pictures with a large interactive 3D mosaic complete with Micromob character props at the LEGO booth.

“LEGO Minecraft is a perfect example of how people’s passions can be amplified when digital and physical interests are combined, and there couldn’t be more synergy between the engine that drives the Minecraft gaming experience and the creative fuel of a LEGO building experience,” said Michelle Wilson, senior brand manager for LEGO Systems, Inc. “We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Mojang to create new Minecraft characters and environments in LEGO form so that fans can get as creative as they’d like in their physical world as in their digital one.”

“There’s no doubt about the connection between LEGO building and Minecraft — not only the design similarities, but the immense creativity that our fan bases share,” said Lydia Winters, Mojang’s director of fun. “Given how well received the first model was last year, we can’t wait to see what fans think of these new designs.”

Exciting, isn’t it? The original #21102 LEGO Minecraft set is going to be renamed #21102 LEGO Minecraft The Forest, and the two new LEGO Minecraft sets that will be available soon are listed below.

#21105 LEGO MINECRAFT THE VILLAGE: With this model, fans can create and customize their own Minecraft village with LEGO bricks. Just like the game, fans can build houses, grow crops and beware the mines in their own micro-world as well as play out their own storylines with Pig, Villager and Zombie constructible Micromob figures.

#21105 LEGO Minecraft The Village

#21106 LEGO MINECRAFT THE NETHER: Builders can create the Minecraft Obsidian Portal and The Nether to explore the newest biome with this microscale LEGO model, complete with Netherrack, gravel, flowing lava and bedrock. This model includes two Ghasts and one Zombie Pigman constructible Micromob figures.

#21106 LEGO Minecraft The Nether

Just like the original LEGO Minecraft set, the new LEGO Minecraft micro-scale models can be split into four sections and reconfigured for different play experiences. They will be available beginning September 1, 2013 with a suggested retail price of $34.99 – same as the first LEGO Minecraft set.

This is totally off topic. Are the chima construction figures worth getting and if so which is best? Laval,Gorzan,Worriz and razar are the best in my opinion. What do you guys think

I’m not a big fan of constraction figures, but some people really like them. They are basically like Hero Factory figures but with very detailed animal heads. I do like the heads. And some of the weapons too. I guess you can decide by which character you like the most, or which character has the parts that you find useful for MOC-ing. 😉

Hmm there’s a good point I am recently getting into MOC-ing as before I was a bit of a perfectionist as in I built the set and left it as it was never taking it apart. But then earlier this year I bought my first own bucket of bricks (my others were from sets and hand-me-downs from my sisters dark ages) and created some cool stuff and ever since I’ve been adapting my older sets improving them where they’ve broken in a box but the one thing I won’t do is cut or alter a brick but that’s just me.
Back to the chima figures my favourite is Laval but I don’t have/like his minifigure. Having Gorzan, razar and Eris minifigures may sway my decision as I might do a brickfilm with the chi up thingy like I did with the hulk in my sisters friends cafe. 😀 I managed to persuade her to let me do it. Would you guys like to see some of my brickfilms?

Okay, just whenever you are ready. I do have a TBB YouTube account, but it only has like two videos. I’m just not a video-ish person. You can reach it from the social buttons at the top of the left-hand side-bar.

2.Worriz
3.Cragger

6.Razar

Yeah I think Laval is one of the best I just don’t really like his minifigure it’s too thundercats but I do like long tooth and lagravis. Does anyone know where I can get a cheap wilhurt minifigure as he’s my favourite but his sets are so rare and expensive 🙁 ?
I noticed I prefer the older tribe members like Lagravis, longtooth, equila, crominus and others more. Dunno why.

I love Lego and I like minecraft, but together they seem redundant. they are both building toys. It is as if mega blocks became popular (curse the day) and Lego made sets after it. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Reply

admin August 8, 2013 at 11:59 AM

Yes, but Minecraft is for virtual building, whereas the Minecraft sets are for building in the real world. So they are more complimentary rathen than redundant. 😉

Acka bacca August 8, 2013 at 3:57 PM

Well lego and minecraft are very similar in the fact that there is limitless possibilitys providing you have an imagination 😀 so they were practically made for each other and a lot of people like it very much like the BTTF set it sold out very quickly and limits to how many you could buy we’re put up. That also gives us a hint that LEGO will continue the theme to an extent hence why we have these new sets of which I think are better.

The minecraft sets are sweet, but sometimes I wish the Lego company would try to keep stuff to scale. Especially since Steve and that villager don’t even fit in their houses!

Reply

admin August 14, 2013 at 5:51 PM

Yeah, scale models are always preferred, but it would raise the prices significantly. So LEGO tends to stay in a price-range that provides sets that are still detailed and fun, but not too expensive. And you can always build bigger models if you have the $$$ for it. 😉

Chi-bacca August 16, 2013 at 4:00 AM

Why don’t you buy 2 and then scale it up
