As you probably know already the LEGO Minifigure Online Game is going to be ready for open beta-testing sometime this month (you can register here to get notified when it starts). A few days ago Funcom, the developer of the game, released a trailer featuring the Medieval World setting of the game. It looks really fun! 🙂

LEGO Minifigures Online Game

In case you are not familiar with it, the LEGO Minifigures Online Game is a free multiplayer adventure, based around the LEGO Collectible Minifigures. Players will be able to pick from a variety of minifigs, each with a unique set of abilities. Through player vs. player battles and team challenges, players will be able to unlock power bricks, which can be stored in various configurations in order to increase the power of their minifig’s abilities. The game will include a variety of themes and places, such as from LEGO Pirates, LEGO Space, LEGO Castle and much more.

The trailer here gives us a glimpse of the Medieval World setting of the game, where the characters are trying to capture the evil sorcerer Elementius the Pieromancer who is wanted for pie-throwing. The heroes are called upon to protect the King by setting off on an adventure to battle trolls, ogres, and dragons. Looks fun, isn’t it? As I have mentioned, the open beta testing of the game should begin sometime this month. If you would like to participate and get notified when the game is available for testing register here: LEGO Minifigures Online Game Beta Registration

First comment! I might try this if I have time.

Meneldur June 2, 2014 at 10:30 AM

Hmm, I hope this doesn’t go down like LEGO Universe did. Some aspects of this game look similar.

legodude19 June 2, 2014 at 12:00 PM

I might give it a try if it isn’t too simple. 🙂

That sounded weird. lol

Kim June 2, 2014 at 12:42 PM

I’m gonna give it a try. It looks like it has potential to be pretty fun.

MASTEROFFIRE June 2, 2014 at 12:42 PM

Went back to my email and found all the brick blogger posts, I remember when I would get on here a lot, though I forgot my old username 😛

ninja of stealth June 2, 2014 at 12:59 PM

hey MASTEROFFIRE, really cool avatar! 😉

Kim June 2, 2014 at 1:03 PM

Wow I just checked my spam box and I got invited to the end of the closed beta. Guess I know what I”m doing when I get home.

admin June 2, 2014 at 1:24 PM

I also got an invitation a couple of days ago, but I haven’t gotten a chance to try it out as of yet. Let me know how you like it if you do have the time to check. 🙂

Meneldur, the problem last time was that LEGO was trying to develop a game on their own. This time is is done by a very experienced game developer, so they should know better what they are doing. 😉

Nice to have you back! You used to go by the name NRGkai… I just checked. 😀

Inventrious June 2, 2014 at 2:22 PM

This won’t be as good as LEGO Universe (no game will be :/), but at least it’ll be something.. they had LEGO Universe music in a different trailer so that might be a good sign :3

Inventrious June 2, 2014 at 2:23 PM

Unfortunately I haven’t… hopefully it’ll come soon 😛

A few things that make me dislike the new Lego MMO’s is that it’s not a first-person viewpoint, and it has to be played In-Browser, which is a complete pain both ways. If you need to scroll to look at something in your inventory, the oftentimes the game window just goes up in the browser window. And when it’s not a First-Person viewpoint, you’re constantly clicking to move your character…and believe me, I beta tested Chima, it’s really quite obnoxious….

Lloydguy June 2, 2014 at 4:26 PM

How do you get an invitation?

Lloydguy June 2, 2014 at 4:27 PM

Oh, there it says how…

I’ve been playing the close beta for a few days now, but it seems to hve the same failings as Lego Universe. It doesn’t seem like there’s going to be any physical tie-in products beyond the minifigures series itself. Funcom is trying to make money by selling in-game currency and membership, but I jut don’t see it working in a game aimed mostly at school-aged kids.

when will beta be out

I loved lego universe and was sad when it was shut down and does anyone know if this free

admin June 2, 2014 at 9:56 PM

Yes, this game is free, although I’m pretty sure there are going to be some paid features as well. After all they have to maintain the game and pay the bills somehow. 😉

admin June 2, 2014 at 9:58 PM

Hm… thanks for sharing your thoughts on that. I agree that selling anything to little kids is a tough plan and they are definitely the main audience. We shall see how this works out, but that’s what caused the death of LU. 😕

admin June 2, 2014 at 9:59 PM

Thanks for sharing that! I’m really not a gamer, so it is very interesting to hear from experienced games like yourself. 🙂

Kim June 2, 2014 at 10:43 PM

It’s ok. Control is basically mouse based which is not my favorite because I’m a console gamer. It’s cute and could be entertaining at 30 minute intervals but I don’t see myself investing a lot of time or the money for the membership.

Lloydguy June 3, 2014 at 7:00 AM

You said thsi, did you mean “this”?

admin June 3, 2014 at 9:19 AM

Kim, thanks for sharing that. We shall see how this game turns out compared to LU…

Micho June 3, 2014 at 4:56 PM

Hey now!!! That looks pretty exciting and full of adventure!!!

admin June 3, 2014 at 9:09 PM

Hey, Micho, long time no see! I would actually like to hear your opinion on that part of the game! 🙂

Micho June 5, 2014 at 11:39 AM

Just know that im here every day even though i may not comment 😉 … i forgot to sign up yesterday because im hooked on Mario Kart at the moment… but im gonna try to make time today after work to sign up and try out the beta when it comes out… id love to play this… maybe while im watching the nba finals… GO SPURS!!! 😉

Micho June 5, 2014 at 11:42 AM

Btw… i’d love to play this as a Forestman

admin June 5, 2014 at 11:51 AM

I’m rooting for the Spurs too, although I also really like Miami. Last year’s finals between the two of them were art in motion. The best basketall I have ever seen. Especially the last game. It was excellent sportsmanship and was just beatiful.

MASTEROFFIRE June 6, 2014 at 12:09 AM

I think I like MASTEROFFIRE 😛

admin June 6, 2014 at 10:26 AM

Sounds good to me too! 😀

Micho June 6, 2014 at 12:36 PM

Yesterday’s game 1 was beautiful too 😀

Micho June 6, 2014 at 12:40 PM

aaaand… I’m signed up for the beta

admin June 6, 2014 at 12:59 PM

Yeah, despite the broken AC! 😐

admin June 6, 2014 at 1:01 PM

Sweet! Let me know how you like it! 😛

trollninjago June 6, 2014 at 8:21 PM

looks interesting…:)

I'm bat man and Bruce Wayne is not June 7, 2014 at 6:37 PM

Is it going to be like the free version of universe and you can only get to certain parts and it stops.

MR.potatoheadLOL July 19, 2014 at 6:58 AM

can someone please help me? i’m trying to log in and it tells me “Your account does not have any characters. You must have a character to log into this site.”, how do i get a character?

admin July 19, 2014 at 11:46 AM

Are you trying to log in to the game? Have you created an account yet?

MR.potatoheadLOL July 20, 2014 at 5:57 AM

it told me to log in with my lego id, and I did and that message came up

admin July 20, 2014 at 11:30 AM

Hm… I would suggest to call LEGO’s customer service to have that straightened out. Maybe something is wrong with your LEGO ID. Another thing I thought of is that perhaps it is your browser. Some older browsers don’t work with modern websites and thus your typing of your ID is not being recognized. I would suggest to try another browser (Firefox is a good options as it always updates itself to the latest version), or try someone else’s computer and see if you still have issues.
