LEGO Minifigures Series 12 – first picture!

An interesting piece of news I read about a few days ago on Brickset is that a Japanese LEGO blog revealed the first image of some of the #71007 LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 12 characters. This upcoming series is scheduled to be released in October. In the picture below you can see six of the minifigs coming soon. Take a look! ๐Ÿ™‚

LEGO Minifigures Series 12 First Picture

On theย catalog imageย above you can see the LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Space Miner, Wizard, Dino Tracker, Battle Goddess, Swashbuckler, and Video Game Guy. The Space Miner looks like an excellent minifigure, and I’m so looking forward to the Wizard! The Dino Tracker girl looks like she is right out of The Hunger Games so I think she will be very popular. The Battle Goddess is one of my favorite minifigures ever; just look at that sweet helmet and shield! The Swashbuckler comes with great torso printing, and two very useful accessories in new colors: the foil and the floppy hat. I also really like the Video Game Guy with the hair/headphone piece in different color than what we have seen before, and a great T-shirt design with the new moulded color sleeves only seen on The Simpsons characters before. ๐Ÿ˜€

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 12 Characters

The rest of the minifigures in Series 12 are (according to this Brickset article): Jester, Piggy Guy, Hun Warrior, Fairytale Princess, Pizza Delivery Man, Spooky Girl, Prospector, Genie Girl, Rock Star, and Lifeguard. No picture as of yet, but I’m really looking forward to seeing them all!

I love the wizard and the accesories on the battle godess! I’m reading The Iliad and ancient books like that for school so I would love to get a few of her to make different mythological gods and godesses! (The accessories could be used on male or female.) Also, on the note of gods and godesses, I’ve been wondering if they will make Lego sets of Thor when the third film of him comes out. (The third film was what introduced the Iron Man, POTC, and Toy Story line I believe.)

    • admin June 5, 2014, 11:28 AM

Yeah, I also really like the goddess! As far as Thor, I haven’t heard anything in regards to this, so we just have to keep our eyes and ears open for any news. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • BLProductions June 5, 2014, 12:03 PM

Thor has three films? What is the third film? The Dark World? i thought that was the second. ๐Ÿ˜•

        • Strider June 5, 2014, 12:50 PM

No, it doesn’t have three films yet, (the second was The Dark World,) but I am fairly sure that a third one is coming, Chris Hemsworth, (Thor,) has talked about it so I think it may be in the works.

          • Hey guys July 14, 2014, 2:49 PM

Hey! In the Percy Jackson series, Athena is the goddess of battle. She is described with curly blonde hair!

    • lego man September 27, 2014, 10:33 PM

I found all 16 minis at walmart in md.

  • Yoda Archives June 5, 2014, 11:16 AM

I like them all. The Battle Goddess is the best of the those pictured. The shield and helmet are great pieces. Is that skirt fabric or a brick? The printing on the wizard is cool. Nice to see some colorful wizards rather than the normal black, brown, and gray robes.
Good to see they are already using the short sleeves from the Simpsons.

    • admin June 5, 2014, 11:53 AM

Yes, the skirt is fabric on the goddess. I actually was a wizard just like that in a costume-contest years ago, so I have to have him! ๐Ÿ˜›

    • Hรฅkan June 6, 2014, 6:08 AM

Short sleeves would be interesting if that Big Bang Theory set would be produced. (Doubtful if my budget allows it, but either way…)

  • Micho June 5, 2014, 11:36 AM

Oooh i want all of them!!! At least all the time period ones… cant wait to see that jester… the swashbuckler makes an awesome D’artagnian to my musketeets… i wanna see the princess too and the goddess is beautiful… OMG piggie guy sounds great and so does pizza delivery man

    • admin June 5, 2014, 11:48 AM

Micho, watch your back! Your mermaids are going to get jelous cathing you looking at that goddess. And you don’t want to make mermaids angry. They can do very-very awful things to people… ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

      • Micho June 6, 2014, 12:42 PM

        LOL, you’re absolutely right!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

        • Hey guys July 14, 2014, 2:50 PM

But that goddess (I’m going to call her Athena) has powers to protect you from them.

  • BLProductions June 5, 2014, 11:57 AM

These look great. I really want to get that space miner, and maybe the dino tracker. She has short sleeves, but I don’t like the hairpiece. ๐Ÿ˜• The video-game guy is neat, but I read on Brickset that he should have come with a molded controller (which would be awesome!), not a printed tile. And the Battle Goddess looks great, the hair/helmet combo would almost work for an Eowyn minifig (from LotR) ๐Ÿ™‚
Let’s just hope these don’t sell out as fast as the TLM figures did in the US. I regret that I couldn’t get Lincoln. ๐Ÿ™

    • Strider June 5, 2014, 12:52 PM

Lego would have had to design a new mold though, which might be expensive.

    • admin June 5, 2014, 12:55 PM

I’m also not fond of that hairpiece, but I have to see it in person to make a final judgement. It looks similar to Padme’s, which I also don’t like. Looks good from the side and back, but not from the front.

      • MR.potatoheadLOL June 20, 2014, 11:37 AM

is that hair piece a bun? it looks new to me, but when i saw it for the first time it looked like a traditional lego bun, but i also didn’t know that the waitress series 11 had a ponytail

        • admin June 20, 2014, 11:41 AM

It is a bit hard to see, but my understanding is that it is a new piece. It is similar to what the Padme minifigure has, but not exactly the same.

          • MR.potatoheadLOL June 23, 2014, 10:58 AM

i just found out that it’s a bit like the old padme, a small bun with some sort of ponytail thing attached, you can see it a bit better here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=95830&st=125

            • admin June 23, 2014, 11:38 AM

Yes, I also thought it was similar, but not the same. I don’t like it too much from the front, but it may be nice at the back.

              • MR.potatoheadLOL July 9, 2014, 8:20 AM

i am going to look for it because it reminds me of princess lei’s hair at the end of episode 4

                • MR.potatoheadLOL August 8, 2014, 6:06 AM

genie girl has the same hair piece but blonde

  • legodude19 June 5, 2014, 12:03 PM

How funny, I doubt the Huns would ever guess that one of them would be depicted in small plastic form roughly 1700 years later… XD

    • admin June 5, 2014, 12:56 PM

Yeah, I’m looking forward to this minifig. I wonder if it is going to have a pointy leather and fur helmet.

  • CaptainChespin June 5, 2014, 12:09 PM

I read the same article on Brickset! XD I’m very excited to see the rest of the series! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • ninja of stealth June 5, 2014, 12:21 PM

al those minifigures look really awesome! I really want that wizard! and the battle goddess has some really neat stuff! so awesome! ๐Ÿ˜€ I can’t wait till we get to see all of them, this looks like a really good minifigure series!

    • ninja of stealth June 25, 2014, 5:49 PM

Its also cool that the swashbuckler, and the Video game guy are in the new minifigure game! (there might be more of them, but I haven’t got that far into the game.)

      • admin June 25, 2014, 6:11 PM

Hm… that’s interesting! Let us know who else you find! ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Donna L. Faber June 5, 2014, 12:27 PM

I think they’re adorable. I particularly like the strong female characters. They are timely and perfect! I hope there are more of those coming soon!

  • Kim June 5, 2014, 12:38 PM

My favorite because I like video games is the Gamer. I also like Swashbuckler and Wizard. I wasn’t into the Dino Hunter until you mentioned the Hunger Games similarity and now that one has more appeal to me.

  • I’m still waiting to go to Toys R Us for some Simpsons minifigs. Swashbuckler and Wizard look really cool though! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Genie Girl ๐Ÿ˜†
    Jester, awesome.

  • NinjagoNerd36 June 5, 2014, 5:23 PM

    That Wizard looks AMAZING!

    • MR.potatoheadLOL June 20, 2014, 11:38 AM

yeah, i sooooooooo want him, as well as some others. i love his new hat, but i have the beard. It’s GANDALF’S

      • MR.potatoheadLOL June 20, 2014, 11:50 AM

although it would have been nice to have a new staff piece, maybe with a tiny sphere instead of the crystal and a more ornate staff. but at least the mini fig’s cool ๐Ÿ˜€

        • JayVendetta July 23, 2014, 10:57 AM

A sphere! That’s what they need to make! Lol seriously.

  • Nicolas June 17, 2014, 10:51 AM

amazing looking series! will be quite interesting to see how the dino hunter and lizard man or godzilla would get along… the space miner seems ever so original and the video game guy has the same remote as that on the MMO logo

  • MR.potatoheadLOL June 20, 2014, 11:44 AM

they all seem nice and i definitely want some, like the jester, wizard, princess, spooky girl, etc. but i have to admit, the minifigs are getting repetitive i.e. genie girl, life guard and the usual person in a costume. but i still would like to get some. can’t wait to see the others!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yisrael20 June 24, 2014, 12:22 PM

I am a minifigure collecter, and for sure collecting this series! But, I’ve always been wondering, why don’t just make minifigures for these movies: Kung Fu Panda, Frozen, Dipicable me,etc. Why not for books. For games(video and regular.)For history.Or even for already made themes. Why not?!?

    • admin June 24, 2014, 1:09 PM

Working out licensed deals is not easy. First of all the license holder may already have a deal with another toy company, or their terms are too restrictive. Same with video games and books. LEGO does pursue the licenses that they feel would be beneficial. Just look at the entire LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, LEGO DC Super Heroes, and LEGO Disney Princess line. I have also heard rumors that they are in communication about the Despicable Me license. So yeah, they are doing the best they can. It is not an easy process, and it won’t make sense for just one or two minifigures, but if they can see a succesful building toy line building up around a license, they usually pursue it. LEGO is primarily a building toy, not an action-figure producer.

As far as historical figures, LEGO has a strict policy against using real historical elements in their toy-lines. It would open a can of worms that would be very difficult to manage. Would we want LEGO Nazis and figures that may be viewed as heroes in one culture but caused great destruction in others? LEGO prefers to remain on the side of fantasy, magic and play. And I think that is a good choice. There are LEGO customizers however who can make you any historical figure that you like.
