The #10245 LEGO Creator Santa’s Workshop is part of the very popular LEGO Winter Village series that started back in 2009, with one set each holiday season. They are medium-size LEGO sets with sweet Christmas scenes that kind of look like a Thomas Kinkade painting. For a lot of families it has become a tradition to set up the ever-expanding LEGO Winter Village around the Christmas tree. Because LEGO only releases one set a year, they don’t require a huge financial investment or take up a lot of space, and provide lots of family fun for the holidays. So far six sets have been released, and they are listed below for your reference:

Also, below is the designer video for the #10245 LEGO Creator Santa’s Workshop, so you can see all the sweet details. I have to say I’m very impressed with that sled and I really like the little assembly-line for the elves (is that Benny’s Spaceship the little elf is holding?). Also, I think the reindeer are really cute. I have heard some people mentioning they would have preferred moulded animals, however brick-built creatures are just more LEGO-ish and fun. At least that’s what I think. Although I’m surprised none of them has a red nose.

The LEGO Winter Village sets (as well as the LEGO Christmas Calendars we talked about the other day. (See: 2014 LEGO Advent Calendars & More!), and are usually gone if you wait too close to the holidays. If you are a LEGO VIP member you can get it now, or you can wait until October 1st when it becomes more widely available. The benefit of getting it now is that you will definitely have it before the crowds attack LEGO stores ad the Online LEGO Shop, and the benefit of waiting until October is that you will get a free exclusive holiday set with two more elves and a little workshop for them (plus double VIP points the entire month).

So, the Workshop, it is likely that they will still sell that year round even after the Christimas season like Winter Village Market in case I decide I want to get it later? I’m still not fully sure whether I just want a Santa Claus like I can get in another set or if I want the whole deal.

Kim, yes, I would expect that the set will be available later, all the way to at least next year’s Christmas season. If you are not specifically purchasing this for Christmas, then I would say you can wait. However if you are buying it for Christmas I would get it no later than the end of October.

My brother called this, and after reading the Brickset review, I find that this set is not that interesting beyond the reindeer sled, which I really like. But I like that Christmas set! But, is there going to be another one that’s out in December? 😕 That’s when I’ll be buying Lego, the first week.

Are you asking if there is going to be a second promotional Christmas set? Yes, there is! 😉

      • BLProductions September 17, 2014, 3:51 PM

Do you know anything about it? Brickset only has 1 of the two, so I don’t know which one I like more.

I don’t think a picture of the second one has been released yet.

I totally collect the Christmas Village sets and have them all except the fair from last year. I will wait till October 1st to buy it so I can get the small elves workshop. I intent also to get the 2 of 2 christmas set on the secondary market as i doubt ill spend another 100$ later this winter but we never know!!

That’s a good plan. Those little sets actually add quite a bit to the LEGO Winter Village setup. Like in this case two more cute elves! 😛

yeah “Cute” elves trying to eat me! 🙄 cool set, I really like the sleigh and the chair. is this smaller than the previous ones? because I usually remember these around the price of, $100.00

    • admin September 19, 2014, 1:48 PM

Most of the Winter Village series was in this price range. Only a couple of the larger ones were around $100.
