in Other News & Updates

As we discussed yesterday, the 2016 LEGO Catalog is now available. The German version was released first, then the following day the US version. So now we have a chance to see all the new sets coming in the first half of 2016. Below I have selected some of the most interesting pages, and you can also find the PDF version of the catalog at LEGO’s website. Enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

2016 LEGO Catalog Cover

โžก 2016 LEGO MIXELS: LEGO Mixels continues to be a fun collectible theme with wacky characters and great parts selection. The MCPD is the police tribe, the Medievals resemble castles, and the Mixies are musical instruments. The amount of creativity that goes into these characters is so delightful! See the currently available sets at the Online LEGO Shop.

โžก 2016 LEGO FRIENDS: LEGO Friends are going camping! That giant #41122 LEGO Friends Adventure Camp Tree House is very impressive. There is also a #41118 LEGO Friends Supermarket with a wonderful array of great elements, including a watermelon! The #41119 LEGO Friends Heartlake Cupcake Cafe is also very nice. See the currently available sets at the LEGO Friends section of the Online LEGO Shop.

โžก 2016 LEGO ELVES: LEGO Elves continues to be a very impressive theme with beautiful sets in great colors. And this time we get dragons too! In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful LEGO themes ever created, and it is without conflict and guns. See currently available sets at the LEGO Elves section of the Online LEGO Shop.

โžก 2016 LEGO CITY: There are a number of new LEGO City sets coming next year, but the one new subtheme that stands out the most is LEGO City Prison Island – a new twist on the LEGO City Police sub-theme. The sets look great, and there is even a hot air-balloon with a new color-scheme! See the currently available sets at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.

โžก 2016 LEGO SUPER HEROES: We talked about the new LEGO DC Comics and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets yesterday (see link at the end of this post), but for convenience I will list them here again. The LEGO Super Heroes Mighty Macros are going to be great collectibles, and check out that giant brick-built Ant-Man in the #76051 LEGO Super Heroes Airport Battle set! 2016 is going to be a great year for LEGO Super Heroes fans! Some of the 2016 sets are already listed at the Online LEGO Shop.

โžก 2016 LEGO SPEED CHAMPIONS: LEGO Speed Champions is continuing with a new wave of minifigure-size race-cars. While the design of the cars is not entirely accurate because of the small scale, but they still look great and many people collect them. See the currently available sets at the LEGO Speed Champions section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The new sets are already listed at the LEGO Nexo Knights section of the Online LEGO Shop.

โžก 2016 LEGO NINJAGO: Ninjago is another theme that continues with a strong storyline and great sets. We have discussed them the other day (see link at the end of this post), so I will just include one picture of the new sets. See the currently available sets at the Online LEGO Shop.

I don’t know how I feel about this year’s setsโ€ฆ some of them look exciting, but overall the selection is not that great in my opinion. My interest in Mixels, Speed Champions and Star Wars has dropped. However, I do think the Friends, Elves, Ninjago, Nexo Knights, Super Heroes, Minecraft (an ocelot!), Technic, and Architecture sets are good, and some are really cool. You didn’t mention Creator, but I think that theme has some great sets as well. ๐Ÿ™‚ I definitely want at least one of the Elves dragonsโ€ฆ. Speaking of which, I guess that the Indominus Dragon (in the corner) is going to be in one of the summer sets, as it’s in the background of the other sets. I can go on forever about the other themes, but I’ll stop here. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Also, admin, the link to yesterday’s article is incorrect, and it’s not working.

Yeah, I was going to add that link this morning to yesterday’s article, but I slept late because I went to see Star Wars last night! Fixed it now. I think Ninjago is great, and people are already going crazy about Nexo Knights. I don’t like the color-scheme so much, but the play-features and minifigs are interesting. And yes, Creator has some of the best sets. I didn’t mention it because we have seen most of those pictures before and I wanted to focus on the really new stuff.

Ah, you got to see Star Wars… no spoilers, please, I may be seeing it on New Year’s Eve. To me, the Nexo Knights color scheme seems to fit the futuristic-theme of the sets, although I don’t think Blue goes that well with Trans. Flourescent Red Orange. Maybe just Trans Red would have worked. Now if they had made it Blue and Trans Yellow…. ๐Ÿ˜‰

No spoilers – yes sir! There are a lot of Ice Planet fans, so the orange and blue color-scheme is for them. Just like Benny’s Spaceship was for Classic Space fans. At least that’s what I heard. ๐Ÿ™‚

The German magazine showed the Angry Birds sets, which, despite my expectations, look quite cool. The birds have catapult slingshots, and the piggies get all sorts of… interesting devices. ๐Ÿ˜€

Yes, we are going to talk about those I a few days. They were not in the USA catalog for some reason. But yes, they are interesting. ๐Ÿ˜€

BLProductions December 24, 2015 at 9:49 PM

I believe the US catalog is for winter/early spring 2016 only, so it would not include Angry Birds. Those sets are due out in Germany in April, which means that the USA will most likely get them in May or June. Either way, still pretty interesting sets. ๐Ÿ™‚

admin December 25, 2015 at 9:42 AM

Both the US and German Catalog says January-June at the front cover. I just checked. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hm… then that may mean we won’t get the sets in the US until August. ๐Ÿ˜•

That last picture of architecture sets aren’t necessarily new they ve been out for a while now but the ones I’m looking forward to are the ones due out this summer, the capitol building & the buckingham palace.

Jeremy, please note this article was written in last December. At that time all of these sets were new, including the Architecture ones, which were released earlier this year. As you said, the Capitol Building, and the Buckingham Palace will be released this summer. ๐Ÿ™‚

Lacy, there has been no news – not even rumors – about any future Simpsons sets or minifigs. So my guess is that the theme is over.
