LEGO Dimensions more second phase packs!

Back in June LEGO revealed that the second phase of LEGO Dimensions will include even more franchises. With the press-release LEGO included images of a number of the new LEGO Dimensions packs, including the LEGO Ghostbusters Story Pack, the LEGO Dimensions Adventure Time Level Pack and Team Pack, the LEGO Dimensions Harry Potter Team Pack, the LEGO Dimensions Mission: Impossible Level Pack, and the LEGO Dimensions The A-Team Fun Pack. You can see pictures of the above mentioned new sets, read the press-release, and watch the trailer here: LEGO Dimensions Second Phase Coming! 🙂

LEGO Dimensions Year Two

At the recent San Diego Comic-Con LEGO revealed even more of the upcoming LEGO Dimensions packs, with some exciting new characters. There are no descriptions yet, but I think the pictures speak for themselves. The prices however are available: $11.99 for the Fun Packs, $24.99 for the Team Packs, $29.99 for the Level Packs, and $49.99 for the Story Packs. Based on previous experience with LEGO Dimensions packs, you should be able to get them for about half price.

As you can see, LEGO Dimensions is continuing to be fresh and exciting for both gamers and minifigure collectors. While we are waiting for the new LEGO Dimensions Expansion Packs and gaming experience, you might want to catch up on the previous waves. The packs are available at various retailers as well as directly from LEGO: LEGO DIMENSIONS AT THE ONLINE LEGO SHOP

Also, Amazon has a very helpful dedicated page just for LEGO Dimensions, where you can find all versions of the Starter Pack for different gaming systems, and all the Level Packs, Team Packs and Fun Packs (add-on packs work with all systems). Amazon has many of the packs on sale, so you usually get a better deal, plus you can combine your purchase with non-LEGO items: LEGO DIMENSIONS ON AMAZON

So what do you think? How do you like the second year of LEGO Dimensions Packs? What do you think of the new franchises and game expansions? Do you play the game, or do you only collect the unique minifigs and accessories? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

Wow! So many new characters with special molded heads! Love it!

I like E.T. and the had/hat combo on Tina Goldstein. Very useful piece.

Dang, I want these guys. Especially Sonic. Unfortunately, they’re overpriced to be just casually getting, and I don’t own LEGO Dimensions…:(

On an unrelated note, do you have any further plans to look at non-LEGO-brand construction sets?

  • admin July 29, 2016, 1:29 PM

Yeah, Sonic is cute! As far as other brands, yes, I do look at both LEGO customizers and compatible brands on a regular basis. In fact I just got four new MB sets that were released at SDCC. I’m super happy with them. Just waiting for some pieces from BrickLink so I can do a proper display-stand. Will write a review once I’m done. Also, if you have any suggestions/request for trying out something feel free to ask. I’m always open to trying interesting stuff. 🙂

I like that hat piece too! 😀

If you need any suggestions, the McFarlane Toys brand is pretty good. Highly detailed, good for display pieces. The connections to LEGO kind of vary, either it can be a bit tighter, or a bit looser than normal, depending on how you’re connecting them.

I know McFarlane is a good brand with very detailed models, but the products I have seen from them are not LEGO compatible or even LEGO-like. For the purpose of TBB I like to stay with brands that most LEGO fans could relate to. Do they have construction sets I’m not aware of?

  • Strider July 29, 2016, 3:26 PM

Man, Dimensions is becoming quite an outlet for new characters. Personally I don’t think I would buy much of the minifigures even if they were released separately but the price of the game tie in does seem like an excluding factor for some. I guess Lego has to make money somehow.

From what I’ve seen of McFarlane’s foray into Lego-like toys, his emphasis on realism has made them more or less pure building kits. There’s very little customization to be made…

Btw, Bionicle’s reboot hasn’t met expectations and the theme is about to get cancelled again. It was recently mentioned at BrickSet…

I was just going to ask you if you could send me a link. You read my mind. Sweet! 🙂

  • admin July 29, 2016, 5:01 PM

Dimensions sets are consistently at half price, so that makes these packs less painful to buy. 😉

  • admin July 29, 2016, 5:01 PM

Yeah, got a notification about it too. Will post it next week so we can talk about it. 🙂

Gosh! What a weird website! So hard to navigate! Anyway, the Walking Dead sets from last year look interesting. The rest of their construction sets don’t appeal to me. I will see if I can find some cheap on eBay. I kinda like the RV. The thing about this and similar brands is that the construction kit feature is just an afterthought. They simply do it because they know construction toys are popular. So they chop up their own sets to little pieces to let people put them together. But they never become dynamic construction toys like LEGO. Mega Bloks is also guilty of this to some extent, but at least with their Collectors line they try to offer a building system similar to what LEGO fans are used to. I’m just not so interested in these do-it-yourself but still premade kits.

When I saw their Five Nights at Freddy’s stuff, I got a few ideas in my head to modify it. Removing one of the Office tiles to put a stool there for a Night Guard I made, adding in a central laptop from which the rest of the cameras are controlled…I guess a completely new build from the sets is difficult, though. But, you have to appreciate those nice printed tiles.

  • admin July 29, 2016, 5:39 PM

Yes, nice printed pieces are always welcome! 😀

  • Humdrum July 30, 2016, 6:33 AM

I’ve never seen such nice discounts in this part of the world 🙁
I’d love to buy more Cyberman minifigs, but not at €15 per set.

  • admin July 30, 2016, 9:48 AM

Oh… that’s sad. How about finding the figures you want on Bricklink?

  • Tom July 30, 2016, 10:46 AM

Much as some of the figs are awesome I’m not going to pay £15/25 per set to get a fig and a bunch of stuff I wont use – eg sonic. I have zero interest in the game and the prices on BL aren’t that much better. Yes occasionally they are 1/2 price in the UK but I’ve only seen that on the sets I’m not interested in sadly.

  • admin July 30, 2016, 10:50 AM

Tom, you might still want to put the minifigs you want on your BL wanted list. On the ones I wanted prices did eventually come down. It just depends on supply and demand, as well as sales that resellers find.

  • Humdrum July 30, 2016, 11:40 AM

Yes I thought about that, but the price averages around €7 if I’m not mistaken. So I might as well wait a little longer for a decent discount and get the Dalek mini build that comes with it 🙂

Patience is often key when hunting for Lego bargains.

  • Tom July 30, 2016, 1:11 PM

I shall do just that – when I’ve looked before they always seemed very expensive still…

  • admin July 30, 2016, 6:29 PM

Yes, patience. It usually pays off. I have to remind myself of that too. 🙂
