LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Castle

As a very interesting move, a couple of days ago, both the Online LEGO Shop and Amazon made a new LEGO Star Wars set available for pre-order. The #75251 LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader’s Castle is unique in several ways. First of all, actual buildings are pretty rare in the LEGO Star Wars collection, and LEGO making a set available for pre-order only happened once in recent history. In addition, this set is an Amazon exclusive, meaning that Amazon will be the only reseller carrying the set besides official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop. Below are the details. 🙂

Here is the official description of the set: Set the scene for action on planet Mustafar with the #75251 LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader’s Castle! This building set of Vader’s menacing-looking home features lots of great details, including a brick-built lava flow, an underground hangar with mouse droid and docking station, ancient Sith shrine with holocron, racks for extra ammunition, and secret compartments hiding more Sith relics. The hangar also houses a buildable TIE Advanced Fighter model with stud shooters and space to sit the Darth Vader minifigure. There’s also a bacta tank, Darth Vader’s meditation chamber with holographic communication unit, and a meeting platform at the top with a defensive stud-shooter cannon. As well as classic Darth Vader, the set also includes a bacta tank version of the Dark Lord, plus 2 Royal Guards and an Imperial Transport Pilot. 1,060 pieces. Price: $129.99 – LEGO SHOPAMAZON SHOP

As mentioned above, the set is exclusively available through Amazon and the Online LEGO Shop. Amazon lists the official release date as November 26th (so if you pre-order that’s the time the package will ship). The Online LEGO Shop lists the date the set will ship as December 1st. The price at both Amazon and the Online LEGO Shop is the same, and they both offer free shipping. However, if you order directly from LEGO, you will also receive whatever promotional item is available at the time you make a purchase. The current promotions are a free #40300 LEGO Star Wars Han Solo Mudtrooper minifigure until October 14th, and a free LEGO Minifigure Collector Frame during the rest of the month. If you would like to pre-order, here are the links:

The #75251 LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader’s Castle looks quite dramatic from the front, and could make an excellent focal piece in a LEGO Star Wars layout. And the inside is packed with lots of details. If you would like to own a unique LEGO Star Wars set that doesn’t break the bank, this can be a great choice. Due to the limited release, this can also make a great gift for a LEGO Star Wars fan. For other currently available sets, check the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like the #75251 LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader’s Castle? Is this a set you are interested to get? And what do you think of the idea of LEGO making sets available for pre-order? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

It looks nice, but it has to less going on in terms of details on the front. The fact that it includes a tie fighter and a few sliding doors is nice, but I just don’t buy the excuses that were made in front design here…

However, I do like that this is a fully fledged tower with a open back design in the lego star wars department.

Btw, today is my birtday, so I am going to celebrate it later this week. Which movie do you recommend we watch? I was thinking about the Solo Movie, Tomb Raider, Lego Movie 2, etc.

Happy birthday! Both Tom Raider and Solo are good. Not the best movies ever, but action-packed and enjoyable. The Lego Movie 2 is not out until next year.

How would you watch the movie? Cinema, rental, Netflix?

Happy Birthday!!! I saw both Solo and Tomb Raider, and I much preferred Tomb Raider, even though I’m a Star Wars fan. It was a pretty cool story and very well done. I didn’t like Solo very much, but that may be just me. Anyway, whatever way you plan to celebrate your birthday, have lots of fun! 😀

        Hey guys!

Thanks! I will keep your suggestions in mind when choosing a movie. I will be watching them through a Netflix-esque thing. 😀

This is probably a response from Lego to ToysRUs closing. They will probably do more exclusive sets like this with Amazon and other retailers. I think it looks great. I like the sleek and minimalist design.

I read that Toys’R’Us may be coming back. They canceled the bankruptcy proceedings. It was all over the news a couple of days ago: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/toys-r-us-babies-r-us-brand-comeback-in-works-as-bankruptcy-auction-canceled/

      • Håkan October 6, 2018, 6:35 PM

That article leaves on a rather skeptical note, however…

Toys R Us was overwhelmed on several fronts in the months leading up to its filing for bankruptcy protection.

In addition to the debt it was saddled with by its private-equity owners, Toys R Us found itself in a battle to its seeming death with Amazon.com and other big toy sellers like Target and Walmart.

The current asset holders did not go into detail about how the company, which maintained its headquarters in Wayne, New Jersey, would thrive in such an environment.

Yeah, I’m not sure how they plan to revise themselves as all their retail locations are now gone. And they can’t just do pop-up stores like LEGO, as they need lots of retail place to have a wide enough selection. Otherwise, regular retail stores have plenty of toys already. TRU really need to differentiate themselves if they want to come back. Curious to see how this unfolds.

That’s a cool set! I like the lava, the transparent red pieces and the pilot!!!!

Are preorder sets shipped on the release date? Or do they ship them so you receive them on the release date? Haven’t done any preorders before either on Amazon or Lego.

    • Tito October 7, 2018, 3:13 PM

My experience with Amazon pre-shipments is that they will ship on the day they state on the item page, which, in this case, is November 26th. I assume lego will ship on December 1st, but they haven’t done pre-shipping before, so it’s hard to tell.

That’s pretty much what I would have said as well. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
