LEGO Collectible Minifigs Series 6 – first view!

While we are still waiting for the release of the Series 5 LEGO Collectible Minifigs, news had already emerged about Series 6 from the Taiwan LEGO Forum, POCKYLAND. The news – although appears to be genuine –  is still very preliminary, and it is in no way official. However I could not help but share with you the 10 images revealed so far! The Series 6 LEGO Collectible Minifigs revealed so far are listed below (you can click on any of the images for a larger view). 🙂

  1. Alien
  2. Barbarian
  3. Butcher
  4. Female Skater (LEGO must really like skaters!)
  5. Genie (your wish is his command!)
  6. Leprechaun (cute!)
  7. Mechanic
  8. Minotaur (awesome!)
  9. Spacewoman (pretty in pink… even in space!)
  10. Statue of Liberty (just lovely!)
  11. ?
  12. ?
  13. ?
  14. ?
  15. ?
  16. ?

What do you think? How do you like the minifigs revealed so far? And what is your guess for the 6 not-yet-revealed minifigs? 😉

hey, does it look like the genie’s tail will fit inside the lamp??!!

    • admin August 2, 2011, 10:47 PM

Good eyes, Sith! It does look like that! 😉

      • Sarah August 2, 2011, 11:33 PM

I really hope it does! I love that genie!

I can’t wait to get the minotaur – lots of copies! 🙂

So far, if these really are series 6 – I’m quite excited and know I’m going to be buying a lot of extras of a lot of them.

        • admin August 3, 2011, 10:17 AM

Yeah, me too! Gotta get lotsa them! Have you seen Series 5 in your area yet? I hope it will be available soon! I have been waiting for those little buggers for months! 😛

    That’s not a barbarian. It’s a Celtic warrior.

    • admin August 3, 2011, 8:11 PM

You could be right, but souldn’t he be a redhead then? 😆

  • Areetsa August 3, 2011, 8:12 PM

These look suspiciously like megabloks. Can’t say I like the way the asian branches of the company cut corners.

    • admin August 3, 2011, 8:17 PM

Areetsa, I’m not sure I understand what you mean. Would you clarify? 😕

      • Areetsa August 3, 2011, 8:25 PM

Just have a look at the colours of a collectible minifig, in comparison to normal lego. The feel of the plastic, too. The collectible figs use cheaper plastic and slightly different colours, because they’re made in an asian factory.

        • admin August 3, 2011, 8:42 PM

Areetsa, okay now I get what you mean! Yes, the collectible figs, magnet-figs, etc. are all made in China. 🙁

The actual plastic color is somewhat duller, but the print is really amazing. Other than that I haven’t really found any difference. But I can see how some LEGO fans could be disappointed.

I do like the collectibe minifigs, as this is a cheap way of getting some really unique figs and accessories. Probably this is the only way LEGO can afford to create so many new molds, that otherwise would be extremely expensive. So, there are some plusses and minuses like in everything.

Also, just wanted to point out that Asian production doesn’t necessarily equal crappy quality. Some other construction toys and even small LEGO customizers have increadibly high quality. Even better than LEGO. It may be that LEGO has contracted the wrong guys. Just saying. 😉

          • Areetsa August 4, 2011, 10:04 AM

An asian factory is ALWAYS the “wrong guys”. They don’t care about a reputation for quality, they just want to milk the cash-cow dry with the biggest profit margins possible. I have never, in my life, seen a product from the far east that I would consider good enough quality to rely on in any way, or choose over a comparable western one for any reason other than price. You get what you pay for.

            • admin August 4, 2011, 10:56 AM

Areetsa, I do appreciate your point-of-view; there are lots of cheap stuff coming out of Asia, but lots of amazing ones too…

My car is a Honda (never had a problem – love it down to the last bolt!), my computer is a Fujitsu Tablet (IMHO the most increadible computer ever made), my MP3 player is a Sony (better then the iPod… Oh, wait!… iPods are also made in Asia!), my handheld is a Sharp (other brands still haven’t caught up to it), my clothes, shoes, furniture, martial arts supplies… they are pretty much all manufactured in Asia. And now even my LEGO… LOL! 😛

Even if you buy a Western brand, it is likely made in an Asian factory, or at least some (if not all) parts of it. Some of these products are increadible quality, and some are crappy.

Also, it is not like the people there are rolling in wealth. They are just like everywhere else; regular folks who are trying to put food on the table for their families.

The ones that are making gazillions are few. In fact many of these Asian factories are owned, operated and/or contracted by Western companies. How and why that is happening could be another discussion.

I have many friends from Asia some even married into my family. (Actually Asia is a very big place with many different people and cultures so it is really not fair to roll them up into one; I know many of my friends would be highly amused or even offended.) I have found them to be increadibly hard-working, with deep loyalty to their friends and family, a funny sense of humor, and an appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. I know I have learned from them and they have enriched my life.

I’m sure there are Asians like you described also. But there are good and bad people and companies everywhere. 😉

              • Maxx August 5, 2011, 4:06 AM

If there is any difference in quality (which I have not found yet), it’s because LEGO doesn’t want to pay more.
Factories just make what they are asked to do, so it’s not them making crappy quality, but us not wanting to pay more for our car, laptop, clothes etc.
People there work very hard for little money, that’s why things can be cheap there and not here, we WANT to much money to do those jobs they do.

Sorry Anna, I felt I had to reply to such steriotype view.
I hope not everyone in her country is so stuck up, LOL!

  • LA August 5, 2011, 7:58 AM

hi, LEGO is also launching a roman warrior (legionnaire) and another type of cowboy (almost complete in black, evil looking) but I have no pics to present.

    • admin August 5, 2011, 10:46 AM

Oh, really???!!! Now that sounds amazing! Thanks for letting us know!
If you find a picture would you post them or link them here? I’m sure readers would be very interested! 🙂

Honestly guys once i saw the Statue of Libaraty mini-figure i couldn’t believe what i was seeing honestly how strange i would have never thought of this famous statue to actually be a mini-figure as a member of the 6th series of collectible mini-figure. 😀

    • admin August 10, 2011, 9:33 PM

Yeah, Tommy, I know what you mean! I was also very excited about this minifig! It was a brilliant idea! 😀

  • darkdragon August 10, 2011, 1:42 PM

There is an updated version of the alien (if you can find it, images are slowly being removed by TLG request) with the correct torso and the statue fig is confirmed as having the skirt slope on backwards. ^_^

I am excited for the true high-res pictures to released, but I’m guessing we won’t see those until the end of September.

    • admin August 10, 2011, 9:32 PM

Thanks for the info, Lisa! If you have a link to the updated alien let me know! 😉

  • tommy mccaughan August 11, 2011, 5:19 AM

Hey i wonder if they might make a mini-figure of a Scout in this new series actually i can maybe see a scout troop going into series 6 because we all obviously know that he hasn’t been made in any series so i believe they could do with thinking of putting a scout mini-figure in either series 6 7 or 8. And guess what guy’s your not going to believe this but by the time series 8 are released it is said that it is meant to hold about 20 mini-figures in the set!! 😀

    • admin August 11, 2011, 10:16 AM

Tommy, are you talking about something like a boy-scout? That would be fun! 😀
Where did you get the information that in Series 8 there will be 20 minifigures?

      • tommy mccaughan August 12, 2011, 8:36 AM

Hey Admin yeah i’m saying something to do with a boy scout and i agree with you it would be really fun to have on as a mini-figure 😉

      • tommy mccitaughan August 12, 2011, 8:38 AM

I got all the Info about series 8 there going to be released in late 2012 and i’m sure i heard about 20 mini-figures going into this series someone told me about this.

        • tommy August 12, 2011, 3:09 PM

Yeah i believe most of us actually know about series 8 i new series 8 would be released by late next year i wonder what the colour of the packs will be in series 6 7 and 8 can’t wait to find out.

          • tommy mccitaughan August 13, 2011, 2:31 PM

Same here i’m really looking forward to seeing the colour’s for series 6 7 and 8 for some reason i have a feeling that series packs will be in orange.

  • Inger August 11, 2011, 10:18 PM

    Wow these look great.
Honestly I was so caught up in hearing about series 5 being out in some places now that series 6 slipped under my radar.
Lego has that power to entrance…!
    Love the genie :0)

  • tommy mccitaughan August 13, 2011, 2:34 PM

Who’s your favorite mini-figure so far out of these ones and tell me witch ones do u think will be the ones that haven’t been revealed yet i have a feeling about a Scout and a Libraian.

  • tommy August 13, 2011, 4:45 PM

My favorite minifigure has has to be the Genie for me but he probably wont be my best minifigure out of the whole set still more awesome ones to come hurry up!!! we need to see the rest of the minifigures NOW!!!!

  • ironbrickstudios August 14, 2011, 8:36 PM

      Thanks for the link! 🙂

  • david creighton August 18, 2011, 4:52 AM

    i got an idea why not have a lego king or/and a lego queen ? ! !

    • admin August 18, 2011, 10:59 AM

David, it seems that in the Collectible Minifigure line LEGO is releasing minifigures that are not available in regular LEGO sets. Since there are already LEGO kings and queens in regular LEGO sets, I’m doubtful they would release any other ones as a Collectible Minfigure. But you never know what LEGO will do. 😉

  • david creighton August 18, 2011, 4:53 AM

    for series 6

  • david creighton August 18, 2011, 4:59 AM

they will have a crown, a red and white fluffy cape, and golden body and black were the bottom of your hips and were your bits are and golden legs

    • admin August 18, 2011, 11:00 AM

David, I like the idea of a fluffy cape. LEGO has never done this. The current LEGO king has a regular flat and stiff red cape. But making the cape fancier and more kingly is a great idea! 😀

My favorite mini-figure has to be the tired child with the Teddy and my second favorite is the Mechanic and also i found out about what colour the packets of series 6 will be it’s going to be a lightish sort of grey colour!

    • admin September 15, 2011, 3:23 PM

This is one of the most exciting series, isn’t it? And yes, I have seen the packaging too. I thought it was white, but now as you mention it, it does look a bit grayish! 🙂
