CUUSOO project: Avatar Scorpion Gunship

Remember the 2009 blockbuster called Avatar? With the blue people on a far-away planet called Pandora? I recall how right after the movie, there were several wonderful attempts to create scenes from the film using LEGO. Today I would like to show you a current CUUSOO project that features the famous Scorpion Gunship from the movie in LEGO form.

This LEGO CUUSOO project is the creation on Alkido, and is the most accurate representation of the Scorpion Gunship I have seen. Alkido says: “On this design, I devoted particular attention to the rigidity of the installation, the simplicity of construction and playability.” The LEGO Avatar Scorpion Gunship is a large and detailed model, made of 930 LEGO pieces, and designed in LEGO Digital Designer. There are also some videos that supposed to show some of the features, but for the life of me I couldn’t get them to play – Facebook videos can be finicky. 🙁

You can check out the LEGO Avatar Scorpion Gunship details (also try to play those videos) and vote for the project here: LEGO Avatar Scorpion Gunship. LEGO would have to acquire the license to produce this set, and I’m not sure how likely that is going to be, but there is no harm trying. Avatar is scheduled to have at least two more episodes, which makes this LEGO project all the more relevant. 😉

If you like this LEGO CUUSOO project, please don’t forget to vote. Remember; CUUSOO projects need 10,000 votes before LEGO would consider making them into official LEGO sets, and the LEGO Avatar Scorpion Gunship needs a lot of votes to get there. Also, if you have some comments of questions for Alkido, you can contact him through his CUUSOO page. You can vote for this project here: VOTE FOR LEGO AVATAR GUNSHIP

So how do you like the LEGO Avatar Scorpion Gunship? Is this a LEGO model you would be interested to buy? Have you created any scenes from Avatar yourself? Share and discuss in the comment section below! 🙂

Although Lego utilized their Star Wars license that way, I have a hard time believing Lego would buy a license to produce such a specifically AFOL product.

-Thank you very much Mister ADMIN for publishing my project. I was not expecting much at all interest in this project 🙂 . I want to use this comment to inform you that: only the pleasure of building new projects in Lego bricks is more than enough for me, then come get 10,000 supporters and stories licenses have very little importance! Of course, I want to get more fans but it is you, the reader, to take action to add two zeros to the counter!

Hey, Nice to meet you! I really appreciate the skill you have. It is apparent that you have spent a lot of time designing this set, but I feel as if it is way too close to Halo. Have you seen the Hornet gunships in Halo? Your set seems to be very similar to that. I understand that you have designed it from a ship in Avatar ( which I have NOT seen ), but Halo predates Avatar; I feel that the Avatar creators took a bit of there design from the Halo games.

Anyhow, I would give you my vote, except I’m a big fan of Halo and I don’t really like what I have heard about Avatar. I also feel as if this vehicle is a bit of a rip-off of the Hornet from Halo.

All that aside I congratulate your skill in designing this! BRAVO!

p.s. I am not a troll, I’m just an over eager Halo fan.

Alkido, I understand your position, and at the same time it would still be great if you would get more votes. That’s why I wrote the post. Wishing you the best with your project. 🙂

I quickly change the links to a most reliable Internet site on the Avatar project, so that you can finally watch videos without any problem!

Wow. This is awesome. One of my favorite movie vehicles ever.

And if you haven’t seen Avatar, you really need to. One of the best Sci-Fi movies ever. My wife HATES Sci-Fi, and this is one of her favorite movies.

Eric, yeah, Avatar is one of my most favorite movies too. It is sci-fi, adventure, romance, nature… what more could you ask for? 😀

Wow. Looks really nice, would love to see the inside of it and all the pieces. I like to make things from movies out of legos but they never turn out quite right. I have not seen Avatar but anyone could tell that the creator of this is a skilled artist.
