2013 LEGO Legends of Chima large figures

As we have discussed previously in the reports from the Toy Fairs earlier this year, there is a whole range of large versions of the LEGO Legends of Chima characters coming, and now we can finally take a good look at them. These large LEGO Legends of Chima figures are also referred to as LEGO Constraction Figures, LEGO Buildable Figures, or LEGO Ultrabuilds and are similar to the figures found in LEGO Hero Factory sets. In fact they will be packaged the same way, as you can see in the pictures below. 🙂

LEGO Legends of Chima Ultrabuilds Good Guys

What I particularly like about the LEGO Legends of Chima ultrabuilds is that they are not just large versions of the regular minifigures like you would see with the ultrabuilds in the LEGO Super Heroes or other lines, but they are in fact an integral part of the story; when Legends of Chima characters place CHI into their chest, they get fully empowered and reveal a giant version of themselves – ready for battle or for whatever other task they need to perform where so much power is needed. (See links to the LEGO Legends of Chima TV show episodes at the end of this article.)

LEGO Legends of Chima Ultrabuilds Bad Guys

Okay, so let’s look at the LEGO Legends of Chima constraction figures. There are going to be six sets in this range with Laval, Eris, Gorzan, Cragger, Worriz and Razar all having an ultrabuild version of themselves.

#70200 LEGO Legends of Chima Laval – the ultrabuild version of Laval the lion. I think the head is really nice, and I also like the trans-blue elements under the armor – indicating the CHI empowered state. Includes 55 pieces. Price: $14.99

#70200 LEGO Legends of Chima Laval

#70201 LEGO Legends of Chima Eris – the ultrabuild version of Eris the eagle. I also like the head here and the axe. Maybe the wing could have been a bit more built up. Includes 67 pieces. Price $14.99

#70201 LEGO Legends of Chima Eris

#70202 LEGO Legends of Chima Gorzan – the ultrabuild version of Gorzan the gorilla. Gorzan is actually a really sweet guy in his normal state, but when he needs to, he can be quite intimidating. The club and those big hands are awesome! Includes 59 pieces. Price: $14.99

#70202 LEGO Legends of Chima Gorzan

#70203 LEGO Legends of Chima Cragger – the ultrabuild version of Cragger the crocodile. Love the menacing look, glowing red eyes, and the chain element on his weapon! Includes 65 pieces. Price: $14.99

#70203 LEGO Legends of Chima Cragger

#70204 LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz – the ultrabuild version of Worriz the wolf. The color combination, shoulder-plates, double-edged blade and claws are all awesome! Includes 55 pieces. Price: $14.99

#70204 LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz

➡ #70205 LEGO Legends of Chima Razar – the ultrabuild version of Razar the raven. Love the plated armor on his head. Like with Eris, I’m not so sure about the wings, but it is understandable as the designers were limited by keeping the figure in the same price-range as the others. Includes 68 pieces. Price $14.99

#70205 LEGO Legends of Chima Razar

The above LEGO Legends of Chima buildable figures should be available in August. In the meantime you can check out the currently available LEGO Legends of Chima sets at the Online LEGO Shop.

like gorzan he is really the only one i like i might get though the star wars sets in my taste are better than these.

  • The Yellow Ninja April 18, 2013, 10:17 AM

Well I have to admit, there are some really cool new pieces coming in these sets, so I guess I’ll just buy them for the “Bricks”. 😛

  • Quigley April 18, 2013, 10:29 AM

    i love warriz set!

  • ntk743 April 18, 2013, 11:15 AM

Admin are you going to post the comment?

  • Gabriel April 18, 2013, 11:24 AM

WHY!? WHY ARE THESE SETS SO COOLl!!!?? I just don’t have the money for these! Man, if I could I’d get them all. The new LEGO constraction system is top-notch. I love the teched-out robot look of Hero Factory (I own almost the entire Breakout series), but the animal shapes in these sets are different enough to really impress. If I could get just one it’d be a toss-up between Worriz and Cragger. Well done, LEGO!

Lego Constraction? I think you mean Construction. 🙂

    • Gabriel April 18, 2013, 12:25 PM

“Constraction” is the word LEGO has given to their line of “CONSTRuctible ACTION figures.” And they are AMAZING!

    • admin April 18, 2013, 1:10 PM

As Gabriel said; constraction is the rigth word. It is super secret LEGO language. 😉

  • legodude19 April 18, 2013, 11:34 AM

is it supposed to be constraction?

  • ntk743 April 18, 2013, 12:25 PM

  • ntk743 April 18, 2013, 2:45 PM

Admin, do you know if any people from your FB page voted. Since there has been a problem I need to know if someone voted, but it didn’t show up

    • admin April 18, 2013, 5:33 PM

Nathan, I’m not sure. Some people there told me they will, and I hope they do! It was kind of last minute though, so we shall see. I think you are learning that winning a LEGO contest is more than just building an awesome MOC. It also requires great presentation, promoting your creation, getting your friends involved, all of that. So I think even if you don’t win you are a winner already because you will be much stronger and wiser next time around. But of course I still hope you win. 😉

  • darkon April 18, 2013, 3:47 PM

These figures look fantastic! It’s too bad NinjaGo didn’t have any constraction figures! (Garmadon would have looked awesome!) All of these are really really great! 😀

  • Rin Kagamine April 18, 2013, 5:19 PM

      • Agent Coolz April 21, 2013, 4:41 PM

        lolz!!:]

  • Agent Coolz April 20, 2013, 12:22 PM

Also could you imagine ninjago make the bigger version the chi versions imagine garmadon

    • Kimono Kai April 20, 2013, 7:35 PM

I think ninjago buildable figures would be amazing just if they did i hope they would look more like there minifigures do because the chima one’s do not look like there minifigure counterparts expect for laval kind of i think eris however is the most off as she looks like a boy and looks more like ewar or equila more then eris.

I wonder if Lego is trying to get older fans into Chima?

  • Kimono Kai May 8, 2013, 3:31 PM

  • Meneldur son of Garamar May 9, 2013, 2:43 PM

Lego seems to be doing a lot of Hero Factory-like sets. I’ve seen Star Wars figures comprised of Hero Factory pieces and now Chima. And then there’s the brand new Hero Factory sets coming this summer! Why they’re doing this is beyond me.

    • admin May 9, 2013, 3:49 PM

Meneldur, the large figures (also referred to as “constraction figures”) are actually quite popular. I don’t care for them so much and only buy them sparingly, but there are many LEGO fans who are totally into them. It is a different kind of building and play experience. I like the ones that are more mech-like, and sometimes also buy them for interesting parts. Actually, why don’t you discuss this with Fikko. He is a huge Bionicle fan, so he can probably share with you the secrets of contration figures.;)

  • CraggerThePrinceOfChima August 4, 2013, 11:41 AM

They actually look pretty cool! I probably will get Cragger and Laval since I already have their mini-figures.

  • CraggerThePrinceOfChima August 11, 2013, 5:17 PM

I got Cragger and he is the best Ultra-Build Figure of all time!

  • Laval II August 11, 2013, 9:05 PM

    I want big-version Laval vs. little-version Cragger.
    Who would win?
