LEGO Star Wars Jedi Defender-class Cruiser

As you probably remember we talked about the LEGO Star Wars summer sets a few weeks ago (see: 2013 LEGO Star Wars Summer Sets Pictures), but we didn’t have an image of the #75025 LEGO Star Wars Jedi Defender-class Cruiser. Since then the official images became available thanks to Eurobricks, so let’s take a look and see what we are getting!  🙂

#75025 LEGO Star Wars Jedi Defender-class Cruiser

The LEGO Star Wars Jedi Defended-class Cruiser is based on the Star Wars Old Republic video-game, and it is a quite nice looking starship. According to Wookieepedia (the Star Wars wiki) the Jedi Defender-class Cruiser was a light corvette based on a civilian ship, but it underwent considerable upgrades and retrofits to fulfill the unique needs of the Jedi, and thereby distanced itself from the civilian model. The Defender-class light corvette was intended to serve as a base of operations for Jedi on assignment throughout the galaxy, and as such the vessel could fill a variety of roles. The starship’s amenities and conference rooms allowed Jedi to carry out important diplomatic negotiations between parties on neutral ground, and the Defender’s powerful weapons and defense systems allowed it to serve as a starfighter in which skilled pilots could take on far larger capital ships. The Jedi used the Defender throughout the Cold War and subsequent Second Great Galactic War. Below is a picture depicting the original Jedi Defender-class Cruiser and the LEGO version. 🙂

As you can see, LEGO did an awesome job capturing the look and color-scheme of the Jedi Defender-class Cruiser. Below there are also some additional images of the different features of the #75025 LEGO Star Wars Jedi Defender-class Cruiser.

    That ship is AWSOME looking!

  • D.B. Bricks May 21, 2013, 10:24 AM

Just wanted to make this clear the picture with the real one and the LEGO one. The Lego is a project on Cuusoo not the official LEGO one.

    • Håkan May 21, 2013, 10:29 AM

The image with the CGI background? Yeah, I see. I wondered why the models looked differently. Since the official model looks a lot better, IMHO, I guess the Cuusoo project is outdated now.

      • admin May 21, 2013, 10:33 AM

I noticed some differences too, but then I thought, well it is probably a preliminary image. Lesson learned; do not trust Brickipedia. 🙁

        • admin May 21, 2013, 1:06 PM

Okay, updated the picture with a more accurate one. I kind of liked that the previous one had the same background, but since it wasn’t really the set we were talking about, this should work better. 🙂

    • admin May 21, 2013, 10:30 AM

Oh, thanks for pointing that out! I got the photo from Brickipedia where it is listed with the official LEGO set. Gosh, I actually know better and that I souldn’t trust that website! 👿

      • SuperSpyX May 22, 2013, 6:51 PM

Now wait a minute! Don’t go slamming Brickipedia! We do our best to provide accurate information, and we often have info on new sets LONG before they are announced. Since it is so much in advance, we can’t be certain all info is correct, but we do try hard.

        • admin May 22, 2013, 10:06 PM

All right, all right. I think Brickipedia mainly has a bad rep because of the horrible ads plastered all over. Personally I can’t even use the site as it crashes my computer. I have to go to another computer that has larger capacity then mine, then use a browser where I can block ads, then try to find what I’m looking for. I do believe that there are people who are serious about maintaining the site. However there is also a lot of mis-information and rumors – which gives the site an unreliable reputation. Perhaps it would be best not to mention rumors at all. Those are more appropriate for a forum then a wiki. But these are just my thoughts. I don’t run the site so all I can share is my experiences and thoughts. There is definitely a need for a good LEGO related wiki. 😉

          • SuperSpyX May 23, 2013, 8:25 AM

Actually, the ads were Wikia’s and we were fighting them over it. It got so bad that we moved away from Wikia altogether and are now at http://en.brickimedia.org/wiki/LEGO_Wiki . The site is not totally up and running yet as we are still fixing bugs, but we are thoroughly vetting our ads and keeping them few and far between. About rumors, we have a policy against rumors with no solid source, but some people do it anyway. We try to fix them as soon as possible, and we have forums just for discussing rumors so we can find out what’s real and what isn’t and not make inaccurate pages.

            • admin May 23, 2013, 9:38 AM

Thanks for the clarification. Looking forward to see how the new site is when it is fully up and running. It loads really fast for me right now (following your link), but the page is overlapped on the left side with the navigational bar. But as you said; it is still under construction. One issue is going to be trying to outrank the old wiki on Google Search.

              • SuperSpyX May 23, 2013, 2:53 PM

Glad it works better for you! BTW, I am a big fan of this blog, and have read nearly every article. I especially like the Other Brands section so I can find good custom makers. Keep up the great work!

                • admin May 23, 2013, 7:35 PM

Yeah, I also like LEGO compatible brands. Just opened up another package from BrickWarriors before I wrote this. Got their new gladiator armor stuff! Super excellent! Keep me posted when the new wiki is up and running and I can write a post about it to let our readers know. I know many of them use the LEGO wiki, and a better version would be refreshing.

          • BFN May 24, 2013, 2:05 PM

We actually have a very strict no-rumor policy. To the point where people complain and “edit wars” are started based on rumors. 😛 I’m very sorry that you had to see that preliminary image on the official page. I was there when it was posted, and the odd thing is that I recall it being taken down almost immediately. :S Aw well.

Anyway, per Spy. Big fan, and DO check out Brickimedia instead. 🙂

            • admin May 24, 2013, 5:35 PM

BFN, thanks for sharing! I’m sure it is not easy to moderate so many people, so yeah, stuff can happen. I actually really liked that picture because of the background and was happy to find it. I just assumed that since it was on the LEGO wiki it was the actual set. Next time I will be more careful to double check. I will definitely switch over to Brickimedia! 🙂

  • lego trooper 91 May 21, 2013, 10:30 AM

i bet the price will be some were around $90 or $100 because it has 927 pieces 😉

    • Noahnace10 May 21, 2013, 10:33 AM

Yeah, it might be even more because its a licensed set.

  • Noahnace10 May 21, 2013, 10:32 AM

    This is a beautiful set.

    • Legoman640 May 21, 2013, 10:49 AM

      Agreed. One word. Awesome.

  • NRG kai May 21, 2013, 11:12 AM

    woow! yup awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Darth Awesome May 24, 2013, 6:55 AM

This is a must get for me!

  • Steven May 21, 2013, 11:14 AM

Yes indeed this is another nice addition, but I am really hyped up on the minifigs. As always they could add a couple more due to the higher price but this is a sweet set.

  • Meneldur son of Garamar May 21, 2013, 11:58 AM

I find that the Jedi minifigs are a little odd but the beauty of the Star Wars universe is that you can keep adding more and more characters to a growing storyline. In fact, many of you probably have heard that there will be three more Star Wars movies coming out. I’m not quite sure when though. This set is not the most sleek starship in Star Wars but it’s one of the most unique. I’m guessing this is $90.00.

    • Gabriel May 21, 2013, 12:21 PM

Yes, there will be new movies, but also a brand new animated series in 2014 titled “Star Wars: Rebels.”

Anyway, I am hurting so bad because I know this is a set I have to let slip by. Really, really beautiful! But I just have too much going on to divert funds towards it. I think I will look at pictures of it a lot, and then perhaps try my hand at a miniature version. I have already made a miniature BT-7 Thunderclap from The Old Republic:

      http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/271808

      • Meneldur son of Garamar May 21, 2013, 5:47 PM

That’s a beautiful MOC, Gabriel. I sometimes have trouble building mini builds but after a while I get it right. How long did it take you to build the BT-7 Thunderclap?

        • Gabriel May 23, 2013, 11:51 PM

Yeah, it can take a while. I think I puzzled over this one for about 3 weeks. Not working all the time, mind you. Many days it sat on my dresser half completed as I tried to figure out which pieces in my collection would work best for the next step.

  • ninja of stealth May 21, 2013, 12:29 PM

the star wars theme itself is cool enough, you know? ok…? um. Jedi defender-class, coo
can anyone else believe that the word Jedi is in the dictionary?

  • ninja of stealth May 21, 2013, 12:31 PM

speaking of star wars! I’m really excited for the movie coming out in 2015! there is also a LEGO movie coming out: a piece to resistance! its an actual movie coming out. just look it up on http://www.fandango.com

    • The Dark Jedi May 25, 2013, 5:44 PM

There is also that Lego yoda chronicles coming out soon!

  • Gabriel May 21, 2013, 1:20 PM

There’s something else I just noticed about this set that I REALLY like: the minifigures all have gloves. You see, one of the coolest things about The Old Rebublie (or any RPG) is choosing what your character looks like. It’s customizable. By cladding the minifigures in gloves that match the outfit you can put whatever head you want on the minifigure to make it a completely different character. Of course, you could also just switch the hands, but I don’t like to do that with my minifigures; I think it breaks them.

    • admin May 21, 2013, 4:29 PM

Hm… great notice! Yeah gloved minifigs can be anything; heroes, villains, even non-humans! 😈

    • The Dark Jedi May 25, 2013, 5:47 PM

Switching hands doesn’t really break them, it just makes hands looser occasionally . I do it all the time and my figs are fine. 😉

  • Kimono Jay-Mouth Of Lightning May 21, 2013, 1:30 PM

Holly lego!!!!!!!! I feel like screaming my face off!!!!!! I wanted that to be asset so bad!!! I fly in that ship in the game!!! I was actually In it when I was playing earlier today!!! • admin May 21, 2013, 4:29 PM

Oh, nice! Since you are so familiar with this ship you can truly appreciate it. 🙂

  • Kimono Jay-Mouth Of Lightning May 21, 2013, 1:37 PM

I just can’t get over how cool that is!!! I have the battle pack and the Jedi starfighter!!! They are really cool sets!!! And I mean..that is just so flipin epic!!!!!!!! • admin May 21, 2013, 4:30 PM

        • admin May 21, 2013, 9:55 PM

Yeah, hard to remember the names of all of these guys! I pretty much know the names of the original movie characters, but don’t even try to remember the ones from the cartoon or video-games. 🙄

  • Kimono Jay-Mouth Of Lightning May 21, 2013, 1:46 PM

Also, I love how lego made Jedis that aren’t even in the old republic! But Jedi knights look like that same with Jedi consulars 🙂

  • lego trooper 91 May 21, 2013, 4:24 PM

is funny every body here is so nice and you feel like you frends but i don’t even no what any body even looks like 😉 except strider he’s my brother 😀

    • admin May 21, 2013, 4:34 PM

Yeah, I have made it clear from the very beginning to be nice around here. It is a lot more fun that way; nobody using bad words and stuff. Differing opinions are fine, as long as it is shared with respect. By the way, I don’t know personally anybody either. Except my brother and sister who sometimes comment. Maybe we should organize a TBB event where we can all meet! 😀

      • Legoman640 May 21, 2013, 7:48 PM

Yea,that would be awesome! By the way lego trooper,Strider’s your brother? That was a nice post he made.

        • lego trooper 91 May 21, 2013, 8:00 PM

          yeah 92 comments 😉

    • Meneldur son of Garamar May 21, 2013, 4:38 PM

I had no idea you were Strider’s brother! If you go to the Orthanc review you can see me and my brother talking at the bottom of the page. He goes by Laval (or Fug Mugfast).

  • we are your friends!! 😀

  • Brick Boy May 21, 2013, 8:01 PM

I’m so lucky to have a August B-Day!
I’m also, Non-Lucky to have no place to display it:(
    Anyone have any recommendations?
    -Brick Boy

    • Kimono Jay- MOUTH OF LIGHTING May 21, 2013, 8:29 PM

get more bookshelf’s 😉 there very good for displaying 😉

      • admin May 21, 2013, 9:54 PM

I also use bookshelves. They are great for displaying LEGO. I like the open design and that I can take a set down and paly with it anytime I want, yet they are also displayed neatly. Dust is an issue though with open shelves, but if you play with your sets regularly they shouldn’t accumulate too much dust.

        • Håkan May 22, 2013, 4:46 AM

Leading to solution no. 2: Get more walls.

(I’m a comics fan and film buff, so I can relate to this so much.)

          • The Dark Jedi May 25, 2013, 5:52 PM

You can even use the set’s box and put it on the floor. Since I don’t have much shelves in my room, so I do it all the time. You just have to be careful so you don’t step on them. It hurts. 🙁

            • Håkan May 27, 2013, 3:15 PM

I tried using the floor like that, until I and my mother had an argument about leaving things on the floor… Now I’ve had all my books shoved into the closet into structureless piles and I’m thinking of buying another shelf to attach to the older shelves sideways… In practice, I guess that would be looking closing off one corner like a cubicle…

Gosh, this makes me feel so sad…

              • Håkan May 28, 2013, 5:16 AM

If I find a broad, shallow bookshelf, I could probably put it in front of my bed, though, which would leave it relatively hidden in a corner… I’m trying to think compact living here…

                • admin May 28, 2013, 9:32 AM

Hakan, compact living and LEGO doesn’t work well together. Just sayin’. 🙄

                  • Håkan May 28, 2013, 1:31 PM

                    Nor do comics and DVD:s, apparently… =/

I actually went to a thrift store today to look for shelves, but I didn’t find any. Besides, I don’t have a driver’s license, so I’d have to ask somebody for transport, if I’d find any.

  • Dr. Inferno May 21, 2013, 9:37 PM

Darn….this puts the Lego Cuusoo project out of commission. He had a much better minifigure lineup. I bet he’s mad.

    • Håkan May 22, 2013, 4:19 AM

      What lineup was that?

      • Dr. Inferno May 22, 2013, 12:34 PM

Satele Shan, C2-N2 (protocol droid), and Qyzen Fess (trandoshan).

  • Kimono Jay-Mouth Of Lightning May 22, 2013, 8:59 AM

That set came with Satele Shan which has been made into minifigure. It also came with a gold protocol droid. And lastly, te Jedi consular’s first companion (he is trandoshian)

  • Kimono Jay-Mouth Of Lightning May 22, 2013, 9:01 AM

And anyway it’s not like he was gonna get 10,000 votes.

  • Kimono Jay-Mouth Of Lightning May 22, 2013, 9:03 AM

Guys! I know what that red and white thing is next to the box! It’s a holocron!

  • mr. dursey May 23, 2013, 1:40 PM

I think the lighter grey parts should be white..at least it looks white on the CGI picture.
