The recently released LEGO Mixels sets have become highly popular with LEGO fans, inspiring lots of creativity, and even fun building activities and contests. We have talked about the first wave of LEGO Mixels sets that included 9 characters (see links at the end of this post), and the second wave is going to be released this summer. Series 1 included the yellow, red and gray Mixels, and Series 2 will have blue, orange and brown Mixels, with a 3rd series of green, tan and purple Mixels coming probably this fall. As larger images of the second wave just became available it is time to take a second look at these wacky little guys. ๐
โก LEGO BLUE MIXELS – ย this is the icy Frosticon tribe, including #41509 LEGO Mixels Slumbo, #41510 LEGO Mixels Lunk, and #41511 LEGO Mixels Flurr, all very cute and funny characters with interesting pieces and clever building techniques.
โก LEGO BROWN MIXELS – this is the Fang Gang tribe. While the other Mixels tribes are characterized by elemental powers (like the Electroids) or physical characteristics (like the Flexers) these little guys are known for eating tons of food. Included characters are #41512 LEGO Mixels Chomly, #41513 LEGO Mixels Gobba, and #41514 LEGO Mixels Jawg. Judging from the size of their teeth their preferred food doesn’t seem to be vegetables… ๐
โก LEGO ORANGE MIXELS – this is the Flexers tribe, and all I could find out about them is that they live in what’s called the Rubberlands and they have flexible and rubbery bodies. Included characters are #41515 LEGO Mixels Kraw, #41516 LEGO Mixels Tentro, and #41517 LEGO Mixels Balk.
As I have mentioned this second wave of LEGO Mixels should be available this summer. In the meantime, if you haven’t done it already, you can check out the currently available LEGO Mixels at the Online LEGO Shop. They are only $5 each, but provide tons of creative fun and many interesting pieces in great colors: LEGO Mixels at the Online LEGO Shop
So what do you think? How do you like LEGO Mixels? Do you have any of the Series 1 characters? Are you planning to getย some from Series 2? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! ๐
And you might also like to check out the following related posts:
First comment! I like light blue and Jawg and Tentro!
Did anyone notice slumbo uses space helmets on his eyes?
Balk has hats on his eyes too.
LOL! Just noticed that as you mentioned it! ๐
Yeah really fun! But I think my favorite tribe is the brown one. They look so goofy! ๐
Same here! Jawg looks like a dog in the show, and is also cute ๐
Has anyone else noticed that Lego have released eyeball heads in this series?
Yeah, I’m looking forward to see what LEGO fans will do with those! ๐
I liked that, but didn’t realize they were heads
there’s only one word that can describe these… freaky! ๐ฎ but cool LEGO pieces!
I plan to get all nine just so I can say I have the whole series of them but my favorite is the frosticon tribe because they are cute and plus they have Zane’s Ice sword
The fang gang is okey but slightly creapy
the flexers tribe just look fun
Agree about those swords! Looking forward to getting them! ๐
I have the Ice and Fire Swords, but I still like lunk for his breath…. I think.
Me too! I have Kai’s (and a stolen Jay’s), but it is great that they’re coming in different sets. There’s a HF set w/ Kai’s sword, too.
yeah my sister had Zane’s elemental blade but then her kitten chewed it up along with the other ones. ๐ that was a sad day.
Has anyone noticed how similar Shuff and Slumbo look? Same for Vulk and Gobba.
Woah! the similarities are amazing. but more similarities between Shuff and Slumbo.
I think many of them are detailed off a similar base. Take Zaptor and Tentro, for example. They both have 2×2 bodies w/ ball-eyes and a head that tops in a cone. Look at the pics for both series, there are a few similars. ๐
Cool!! My favorite is Chomly, but I also like Lunk and Slumbo. I don’t really like Lunk’s head, so I would build him a new one, and Slumbo looks too sleepy for my taste. I would take off Slumbo’s space helmets and give him something else. I will probably get Balk for those eyeball heads as I don’t care to take him apart. ๐
More Mixels, getting weirder…and weirder…. ๐ฎ
I totally want Lunk, I don’t have Garmatron so I want those ice swords. Chomly is hilarious, I guess that tribe is crazier than the Cragsters. ๐
My biggest problem with the Mixels is that some of them aren’t very accurate. At the top right corner you’ll see their “cartoon” version, and, compared to the Lego figure, they don’t always look the same. The biggest one for me is Shuff (and Flain), so I took my brother’s Shuff and made him accurate. For parts collectors it doesn’t matter but it kind of bugs me. ๐
That’s a good point. I wonder what was developed first; the figures or the show.
I think the cartoon characters, but also I think they were designed with the set construction in mind.
My son loves these sets and my wife and I enjoy working with him to mix the sets together. As far as Lego go these are cheap but the company probably makes up for it since I end up buying them all….
Dem wings!!!
I’ve been in the dark for news in a while, but has anyone seen the Summer Chima sets? It’s a galore of new, specialized pieces and transparent pieces! Transparent slopes, Transparent Minifigure Arms and Legs…Even transparent hands and bones for the Constractions. I’m also happy that the classic 2006 Bionicle Zamor launchers are making a comeback…
Yeah, I was looking over the pictures a couple of days ago. Have an article ready and will post it in a few days so we can discuss them. Lots of amazing stuff! ๐
I wish I could see better pics of them, but Brickepedia doesn’t have good photos. They are to small. I will be getting the speedor with laval.
If I could, I would get Slumbo, Flurr and Jawg, just because they look cool. But if I got any of them, I wouldn’t mind. I would just use the pieces and use the interesting eye pieces (minifig heads) for a start of my CYCLOPS ARMY!!! >:D
Those brown ones are really cute, by far my favorite of this wave. The others aren’t too bad but they don’t seem quite the same style as the previous ones.
Yeah, the brown ones are my favorties too. As far as the other ones, I guess they had to create some variety. The whole idea with these is to be creative and mix them up anyway. ๐
Now available at Legoland Parks. Bought a full set at Legoland California yesterday.
Awesome! Can’t wait to get them! ๐
Does anyone know where to find the instructions for the blue max? Tia!
