November is when most people start thinking about taking care of their holiday shopping, and of course LEGO knows that. So there are some nice offers and specials this month LEGO fans can look forward to. ๐
The first promotion this month is a Free Exclusive 2015 LEGO Wall Calendar with any purchase of $75 or more. This offer is valid for the entire month. The other major promotion is the #40107 Exclusive Holiday Set from November 28th to December 1st, available free with any purchase of $99 or more. This is the second holiday set for this year with a skating scene. While the previous set was available for an entire month, this one is only going to be offered during the Black Friday weekend, so if you want this set make sure you mark your calendar. Both of these small sets are excellent extension to the #10245 LEGO Creator Santa’s Workshop, which is the current addition to the annual LEGO Winter Village series.
There will also be other special offers for LEGO VIP members on November 22nd, and also during Brick Friday. There are no details on what these special offers are going to be, but it is usually select LEGO sets on sale, and possibly double or even triple VIP points on some sets.
Speaking of holiday sets, don’t forget about the LEGO Advent Calendars for this year that you can use to count down for Christmas! We have talked about these sets before (see link at the end of this post) so I won’t repeat the details here, but all three LEGO Advent Calendars are available at the Online LEGO Shop.
Also, note that on November 21st LEGO is planning to reveal a new exclusive LEGO set on their Facebook Page! I’m pretty sure this is going to be the next LEGO Modular Building, which is rumored to be a Detective Agency. Some other rumors about this set include that it will be a split building with an alleyway in between them with a shop (or shops) at the bottom, a detective agency on top, and maybe even a small apartment. Also that the Unikitty tail piece will be used as decorations on the building – which I actually predicted as soon as I first saw Unikitty.
Other highlights for November include a LEGO Ninjago special event on Cartoon Network (which will probably be two episodes back-to-back) sometime during the month,ย a LEGO Friends special on the Disney Channel on November 2nd, and an all new episode of the LEGO Star Wars Yoda Chronicles on November 23rd.
And that rounds up the LEGO special offers in November. Make sure you get any holiday related sets (like the LEGO Advent Calendars and LEGO Winter Village sets) as soon as possible at the Online LEGO Shop, otherwise you may want to wait until Brick Friday for special offers and the second free holiday set. What do you think? Are you planning to do some LEGO shopping this month? Feel free to share in the comment section! ๐

Ooh, a calendar! Sweet! But is it a full calendar that displays all 12 months, or just a one-month sheet? Chances are I’ll be getting one, as I plan to spend more than $75. But I totally want to get something else so I can get the second Christmas set. ๐ Hoping that LEGO’s reveal is that Agency set.
Also, it seems that LEGO.com Homepage has been re-designed. I liked the old version better, though.
The calendar is an actual 2015 calendar with all months. So sorry if that wasn’t clear. I just checked out LEGO’s homepage myself as I got curious, and yeah, I don’t like it either. Everybody is switching over to this minimalist look to please tablet and smart-phone users. But it is sad because it makes websites look weird on desktops and laptops. I guess you have to go with the times. My developer has been pushing me to update too, but I’m scared. ๐
Great! This way I won’t have to worry about finding a calendar for next year. ๐ About the minimalist look: I find it overall disgusting that humanity has gone this far to shrink itself into tiny chips in tiny screens and computers when normal stuff works just fine (but chips…are they tasty? ๐ ). I mean, if you have to browse the WorldWide Web at all times, why not always sit in the house like a hermit? It’s not necessary for a site to shrink its look just because “convenience” people want everything the size of an ant. You don’t have to change anything on your site, admin, it looks fine even on an iPod (I know cause I’ve been here on one). Besides, on smaller screens, people can scroll all over the page they’re on. I know I may sound childish, but I feel very strongly on these kinds of topics. ๐
Okay, that’s good to know. Thanks for sharing. I don’t have any tiny devices so I can’t check myself, but I’m glad to hear TBB is decent on small screens. Some websites actually have two versions; one for large screens and one for small screens. But it is hard to implement. So most websites these days are switching over to a tablet/smart-phone friendly look, or a responsive design (which changes as you make your screen smaller). I know there are a lot of people who dodn’t like Brickset’s new look. I think it is nice, except for the super bright buttons/drop-down menues on top that are hard to see (especially the lime and light-blue ones). Anyway, there are always plusses and minuses to every design.
I read this site frequently from a desktop (27″ widescreen monitor) a laptop (17″ screen) tablet (10″) and multiple phones (between 3.7-5″ screens)
Never ever had a problem with this site. Other sites using strange plugins etc yes.
Personally re vamping for mobile is fine but let me choose “classic” (or normal) if I want….
Tom, thanks for mentioning that. I have no intention of changing the site. I like simple. Your feedback helps me to keep that resolve though. I based this layout with the three columns on the Brothers Brick original site that I really liked (since then they have changed it two columns but it is still nice and simple). I will have to upgrade to a newer version of our theme at some point, but I will ask my developer to design it the same way we have things now.
I recently read that mobiles are actually getting better at formatting and displaying websites even if the websites don’t have a mobile or responsive version – so there is really no need to redesign the whole site for mobiles any more. At one time I did check TBB through a phone, getting to the site from a google search, and I was impressed that google took of the sidebars and only showed the articles. That was kind of cool.
Plugins can hugely slow down and even mess up a website. Fortunately I knew that from the beginning thru the blogging course I took and never had more than six plugins – all for behind-the-scenes work like blocking spam, checking for broken links, and helping with traffic surges. Some people look at plugins like free candy and grab and install hundreds of them! ๐ฏ
I’m a believer in constructive feedback. And yes simple is good. Navigation and look/feel are important of course, but getting what you want quickly is key. Its why even though there are now better search engines than google (some of the academic ones like wolfram alpha are amazing) they will never be more dominant because Google is so simple to use.
Simple and clean is key as you said. And its a big reason why I come back so frequently (oh and the lego obviously!)
Thanks, Tom, I appreciate that. And if you are ever not happy about something just let me know. I’m not a techy person, and can’t always figure out how to do things, but I do have an awesome developer that helps me out when I get stuck. ๐
You’re welcome. ๐ And the only minus I can think of on this site is that you can’t use italics in the comments.
Actually, I originally disliked Brickset’s new look, but I’ve come to like it, with the exception of making research very difficult at times. ๐ The drop-down menus I use all the time (though for some reason they don’t always work), and I don’t know about them being hard to see, but then I only use the first one. ๐
Also, on-topic, but do we know when exactly the Ninjago episodes are on? I heard something about the 26th, but I hope its sooner. ๐
You can actually use italics in the comments, and also bold, and links and quotes, etc. but you have to put the little code before and after manually yourself. So for italics you would use em before and /em after the text with the bracket thingies around them. Try it! ๐
So let me see…. “em” as in those specific letters? Ok, so is it [emtext/em], em[text]/em, or [em]text[/em]? I’m too stuck up in details. ๐ [emAttack!/em]
Apparently those are all wrong. Are there spaces? Like text ? ๐
This was almost correct and I fixed it for you. What you need to use is not those brackets, but those little greater and smaller brackets. I don’t know exactly their official names, but they look little triangles.
Ooohhh… you mean these: “>” and “<." Gotcha. My family calls them either "bird beaks," or "crocodiles," and they represent inequalities. ๐ So which way do they go? or >em/em<
LOL! Yeah, those! I like those names; bird beaks and crocodiles! You put them around the em and /em like brackets. So the crocodiles are facing in, eating up the em and /em. Or in other words: crocodile + em + birdbeak + WORD or SENTENCE + crocodile + /em + birdbeak! ๐
It seems we posted at the same time. So it goes like will this work!? ? BTW, you know that you pretty much just said the crocodiles are eating the M&Ms. ๐
Looks like you got it! Yep, crocodiles love M&M. You didn’t know that?! ๐
Oh, great, I ruined it. Errrrr…. >em sigh /em< ๐
I have also heard the 26th. In fact that’s the only date I have ever heard of, and I vaguely remember someone mentioning the other day that they have confirmed that date with their TV guide.
Well the shopping part still looks the same. That’s the part that matters most to me! XD
Yeah, me too. I hardly ever visit the main site. But they shopping site… I better don’t talk about it. ๐
LEGO did re-do parts of the Shop site, it used to look the same as the rest of the site, but they redid the top part to merely show “play on Lego.com.”
As far as the calendar is concerned, I have it on good authority that there will be Good coupons in it as well.
Thanks, Dhomal, for sharing that! Good to know!
I’m incredibly saddened they moved the yoga chronicles from CN to Disney XD also by the way do you think it was on purpose that the XD in Disney XD looks like a laughing face
Robin, that’s probably because now Disney owns the Star Wars license. Not much we can do about that. With Disney every symbol has a meaning, so yeah, it could very well be a laughing face! ๐
“because now Disney owns the Star Wars license.” ๐ Now they’ve stuck their little logo all over everything like an over-protective dog guarding its territory. Naaaaassttyy! ๐ก
Buying SW is the biggest reason I dislike Waltless Disney, as well as George Lucas (for selling it, of course). ๐
Lucas ran out of ideas, so basically he had three choices; continue producing uninspired movies, let SW die, or let someone else continue the project. None of them are particularly happy or easy choices, but when you run out of inspiration there is really nothing you can do – you can’t force to get it back. One good thing about SW going to Disney is that if the new movies turn out terrible, we can always say they are not really SW anyway. ๐
For anyone that doesn’t collect the winter sets, i thought the winter skating scene would be a nice addition to the new Frozen set when it comes out.
Hm… nice idea and good suggestion! Thanks for sharing! ๐
Does anyone know where to find any building competitions?
Thanks in advance.
There are always contests in the LEGO Club Magazine, and also Eurobricks has at least one contest running right now, maybe even more. ๐
Classic Castle is also running it’s annual Colossal Castle Contest. And there’s a Sci-Fi type contest on Flickr going on now. (https://www.flickr.com/groups/2697455@N25/)
In the past they’ve done something where you get a random percentage off of your order when you shop at the physical store not online, do you know if they’re continuing that this year?
At this point it is not known what the special is going to be on Brick Friday and the VIP special the week before. I will let our readers know as soon as I get the details. But it could very well be as you said.
is there going to be a post today?
No, I took a day off. With Halloween and the weekend there were less people around than normal, so I figured I take a break too. Regular posting will resume tomorrow with an interesting article from one of our teen contributors. ๐
Sweet can’t wait for tomorrow!
LOL! Everybody is going to do the italics thing now? ๐
whoa. how did legogeek do that? ๐ฏ
Read the discussion. ๐
So… when is the next episode of Ninjago coming out in November? it says for the Yoda chronicles and friends but not ninjago. *sigh* the ways which LEGO tortures Ninjago fans is ridiculous. ๐
The date we have been hearing repeatedly is the 26th of November.
Hi, to receive both the lego calendar and free lego set during November do you need to make to seperate orders ? Or can they be claimed with only one order ?
Nicci, you can receive BOTH promotions at the same time if the order meets all the requirements. So if your order is minimum $99, and you place it during the Black Friday weekend, you will get both the Calendar and the free set, plus free shipping. ๐
I got an invitation in the mail on Monday for the VIP event on the 21st. It said that I’m going to be able to go in an hour earlier than their normal opening hours and get sale items and double VIP points on specific products. There was just one problem. They got my last name wrong! Not only that, but they got my LEGO’ store wrong, as well. I called my LEGO store and asked if they were doing anything special on the 21st. They said no. Then I mentioned the invitation and the employee began to say that she lied because it was supposed to be a secret and only a specific amount of randomly chosen VIPs were invited. As for the invitation, she said that LEGO found out about the screw-up and would send me an email with an invitation with the correct name and store the next day. What’s all that about?
