Just a quick reminder that the Double VIP Points period has began, and will run until the 22nd of March. Double VIP Points only happens a few times a year, so this is a big deal for LEGO fans. This is especially true right now, as so many excellent new sets were released at the beginning of the month. So let’s summarize what’s available. 🙂
If you are not familiar with the LEGO VIP Program, it is free to sign up either via phone, at an official LEGO store, or at the online LEGO Shop. You earn points on all of your LEGO purchases ($1 equals 1 point) that you place directly from LEGO. Once you reach 100 VIP Points, you will receive a $5 reward that you can use on future purchases. During the Double VIP Points period you basically earn $10 worth of points for every $100 you spend, so your points accumulate twice as fast.
The most savvy LEGO fans use the Double VIP Points period to get large exclusive sets that otherwise never go on sale. And of course you can also get small sets, if you like – you earn points on everything! So make sure you are logged in with your VIP account this month when you visit the Online LEGO Shop.
We have discussed the new sets that were just released previously (see: March 2016 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions), so I won’t repeat that information here, but to summarize; LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Super Heroes, LEGO Minecraft, LEGO Elves, LEGO Juniors, and LEGO Speed Champions all got a brand new wave of sets. You can find them all under the What’s New section of the Online LEGO Shop.
As far as large exclusive LEGO sets, the #75827 LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ is available and it perfect for the Double VIP Points period. This is one of the largest LEGO sets ever released with a massive 4634 pieces and a price-tag of $349.99. If you want to own the ultimate Ghostbusters set, this is it. You can find it under the LEGO Ghostbusters section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Another large set that was recently released is the #76052 LEGO Batman Classic TV Series – Batcave. This set is 2526 pieces, and the price is $269.99. It is the ultimate gift for LEGO Batman fans! You can find it under the LEGO DC Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Also, don’t forget about the #10251 LEGO Creator Brick Bank, the latest in the LEGO Modular Buildings line. If you haven’t gotten it already, this is a good time to pick it up – along with some of the previous sets in the collection. You can find them under the LEGO Creator section of the Online LEGO Shop.
And of course if you prefer smaller sets, there are plenty to choose from, and you will earn Double VIP Points on those as well. It is a good idea though to make sure that your total adds up to at least $75 so you are eligible for free shipping. This way you maximize your savings. And to sweeten your purchase, LEGO is offering a free #30422 LEGO Ninjago Kai’s Mini Dragon with purchases of $35 or more. Remember that the Double VIP Points period ends on the 22nd of March, so don’t forget to place your purchase before the deadline. All of these offers are also available at official LEGO stores, but if you don’t live near one, you can just head over to the What’s New section of the Online LEGO Shop.
So what are you getting this month? Which one is your favorite new set or new theme? Or are you planning to get some of the older sets that you have been saving up for? Feel free to share in the comment section below! 😉

This only happens like a couple of times a year, right? I do have some things on my shopping list.
Yes, Double VIP Points are usually now, and before Christmas, so yeah, a pretty rare event. Especially with all the new sets out, there is plenty to choose from. 🙂
I actually bought mostly small sets and some bricks because I already bought all the big sets earlier. The other sets I want won’t be released until Summer.
Smaller sets can be just as fun as the big ones, so enjoy! 😀
Yippee!
We’re temporarily living in Vancouver so I bought the Brick Bank at elevated Canadian prices ($219) with super valued US dollars (about 70¢ Canadian to the US dollar) and got the points doubled at the Canadian rate.
When we get back to the States I’ll redeem my VIP points at the US rate.
LOL! That’s smart! 😀
