Fun with the LEGO Disney Minifigure Series

LEGO fans have been having a lot of fun with the LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigure Series characters, so I thought to show you some of the creations I found and particularly liked. 🙂

LEGO Disney Minifigures MOC Donald Duck

In the picture above you can see Donald Duck checking his mailbox. Neighbor Jones is in the garden, taking care of his roses. This creation was done by flickr member LegoJalex, who also posted Donald’s car separately as a LEGO Ideas project.

LEGO Disney Minifigures MOC Donald and Mickey

LEGO fan Moko built this adorable pair of Donald Robo and Mickey Robo. Notice the clever usage of LEGO elements to make a matching mech for each minifigure.

LEGO Disney Minifigures MOC Stitch

This little rocket-ship for Stitch was built by flickr member nobu-tari. Stitch is one of the cutest minifigures in this Collectible Minifigure Series, and here he looks even cuter with his spiffy ride.

LEGO Disney Minifigures MOC Mickey

In this small, but perfectly designed vignette Mickey Mouse poses as the sorcerer’s apprentice in Fantasia. The hat is from the previously released LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Wizard, and the torso is from a LEGO Star Wars Royal Guard. It was created by LEGO fan simply brick it.

LEGO Disney Minifigures MOC Alice

And here you can see Alice peering through the looking glass. It was created by LEGO fan Simon Barnett, using two identical minifigures to create the illusion of a mirror.

Fun LEGO creations, aren’t they? The LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures provide some of the most versatile and interesting LEGO characters, so I hope to see more of them used in clever ways by LEGO fans. What do you think? How do you like these LEGO Disney character vignettes? Are there are other ones that you found and really liked? Or have you built some of your own? Feel free to share in the comment section below! 😉

I’ve actually read enough of the Carl Barks and Don Rosa comics to instantly understand the Neighbor Jones reference… Also fun to see Moko make a Mickey mecha…

      *Tongue twister intended.*

Sweet! nice that someone gets the reference! 😀

Disney comics are quite a big thing here in Sweden, though. There’s the Donald Duck magazine appearing weekly in comic book format with 32 pages, the Donald Duck Extra (with Don Rosa classics) appearing bimonthly with 48 pages, the Mickey Mouse magazine (for a slightly younger audience) appearing bimonthly with 32 pages, then there’s the Donald Duck Pocket series, in digest paperback with 256 pages every fourth week, and the Donald Duck Pocket Special with 512 pages 8 times a year… But except for the regular series I mentioned, there are holiday specials and such…

Wow! That’s a lot of Disney stuff you guys got there! I mean here I live only a couple of hours from the Mouse’s HQ, but I didn’t know he was so big in other countries!

The production of the magazines is largely run from Denmark by Egmont (although writers and artists are from everywhere), and the pockets from Disney Italia.

There’s a small organized fandom, as well, even if the majority seems rather nostalgic…

is there a place that we can swap duplicates with others? I have an extra Incredibles figure and would like to trade it.

    • admin May 28, 2016, 10:09 PM

Michelle, your best bet would probably a local swap for just exchanging one minifigure. Otherwise if you swap with someone outside your area, there is the whole hassle of shipping and shipping fees. If there is a LEGO store near you they have some swap events. If not, I’m not sure what to suggest. If you really don’t want the minifigs, just sell it on eBay or BrickLink and buy the figure you want. It would be the safest way to do a long distance exchange.

Moko is a really good mecha builder, so those look good despite the fact that I happen to extremely dislike Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

Yes, I know that probably qualifies me as mental, but I have pretty much confirmed that on my own already. 😛

I like the characters, that is as in the old comics and animated films, but I don’t like the minifigs…

    • admin May 28, 2016, 10:10 PM

Yeah, those are sweet mechs. So you don’t like cute mice and duckies? 🙄

I’ve seen neither hide nor hair of these in my part of Florida. Why is it that some places get them in their stores PDQ and other places not at all?

    • admin May 28, 2016, 10:35 PM

I think it has to do with demand. I’m also in Florida, and in my area there is only one small Toys’R’Us, and they only get two boxes of the minifigs from each series. If you are near a LEGO store however you should be able to get them. I don’t know what part of Florida you are at, but the Downtown Disney Store in Orlando is always well stocked, and there are also a couple of stores in the Miami area, if I’m not mistaken. Plus there is also LEGOLAND Florida in Winter Haven.

I’m in Destin. I was at the Pensacola TRUs yesterday and they didn’t have ANY mini figures. So disappointing!

        • admin May 29, 2016, 9:22 AM

Oh, in Destin! Probably very similar situation as mine; TRU only gets a couple of boxes. Florida is not considered a big LEGO fan state, except for the Orlando and Miami areas. I used to call my TRU twice a week to see if they got new stock in (they get deliveries twice a week), and they hardly ever got any collectible minifigs. That’s when I was told they only get two boxes per series, and they are usually bought up right away. I don’t even bother going there any more, and just get the minifigs I want on BrickLink. 🙁

All of the Disney mini sets are absolutely the best and awesome ideas to show case the LEGO Disney figures. My favorite is the Donald Duck car. I hope LEGO by passes the voting phase and puts them your favorite toy store shelf and LEGO ON LINE. We need to give the designers a hardy round of applause. And from me THANK YOU as another way to bind generations of a family together one LEGO brick at a time.

    • Håkan May 29, 2016, 3:37 PM

These are fan builds, it’s only the minifigure themselves that are actually for sale.

      • admin May 29, 2016, 4:37 PM

I think RJ was referring to Donald’s car that’s on LEGO Ideas (the first one featured here), and may have thought that the others are on LEGO Ideas as well. At least that’s how I interpreted the comment. 🙂

        • RJ May 29, 2016, 7:08 PM

Yes I was referring to the Donald Duck car and the other builds that we can add the Disney mini figures to. Any idea if LEGO will be releasing any future Disney mini figures in addition to the current release?

          • admin May 29, 2016, 7:23 PM

RJ, there has been no official information about a second series of Disney Minifigs. However based on the popularity of the first series, and that there are still some missing key Disney characters, we can be fairly certain that there will be at least one more series. But again, this is not official. 😉

I should look in more often – thanks for featuring my Alice.

And if Michelle is looking again, you could try swapfig.com

    • admin May 29, 2016, 4:47 PM

Simon, nice to have you over! And thanks for mentioning swapfig! I never used them, but just today I was reading some positive reviews about them on the Brickset Forum. So it definitely seems like a viable option.
