A few days ago LEGO launched another excellent contest on their ReBrick website for teen and adult LEGO fans. This contest in particular got the LEGO fan community abuzz with excitement, because it is about one of their favorite topic; the LEGO Modular Buildings. Details below. 🙂
➡ LEGO MODULAR BUILDING CONTEST – DESCRIPTION: In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the LEGO Modular Buildings, and the release of the #10255 LEGO Creator Assembly Square, LEGO would like to see how you would expand and customize your favorite LEGO Modular Building by adding your own room. It could be anything; a store, an apartment, a bathroom… anything that would fit with the LEGO Modular Buildings. As a reminder the sets released so far in the LEGO Modular Building line are as follows: #10182 LEGO Café Corner, #10190 LEGO Market Street, #10185 LEGO Green Grocer, #10197 LEGO Fire Brigade, #10211 LEGO Grand Emporium, #10218 LEGO Pet Shop, #10224 LEGO Town Hall, #10232 LEGO Palace Cinema, #10243 LEGO Parisian Restaurant, #10246 LEGO Detective’s Office, #10251 LEGO Brick Bank, and #10255 LEGO Assembly Square.
➡ LEGO MODULAR BUILDING CONTEST – HOW TO ENTER: Build an interior to one of the existing LEGO Modular Buildings. Take up to five photos of your creation, and submit them to the contest page. Make sure to show off all angles of your creation in clear and crisp photos, on a neutral background. Keep your photos below 2MB and rotate your image upright before you enter it. Use the description field to tell about your creation, add no more than 3 tags, then hit the submit button. When you receive a “Success!” pop-up notification after clicking “submit” on the entry submission page, your entry has successfully been submitted. LEGO’s moderation team will review it within 1-3 working days to make sure it fits all the contest rules.
➡ LEGO MODULAR BUILDING CONTEST – RULES: Entrants must be at least 13 years of age at the time of entry. Only create the interior of a LEGO Modular Building, not the building itself. Your model can vary in size, but should be no larger than 16×16 studs at the base. You can submit as many different entries as you would like. Your entry must not contain copies of any existing third party work or creation, or infringements of any third party intellectual property right. This includes the use of LEGO minifigures from brands including LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Lord of the Rings, LEGO Harry Potter etc. Parts from these properties can be used, but characters cannot be part of your model. Use of photo editing software or adding effects to your entry is allowed. Entries must not contain LEGO elements which have been modified from their original form, including painted or cut elements. Entries which are too dark or blurry will be removed from the contest. To ensure easy judging of your entry, we recommend taking pictures on a neutral background free from background clutter, with your model well framed. Entries created in LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) are allowed in this contest. You can read other rules and terms and conditions here.
➡ LEGO MODULAR BUILDING CONTEST – ENTRY DEADLINE: Submit your entry no later than November 29th, 2016 at 10:00 EST. If you’re not sure what time zone you’re in you can use an online time zone converter.
➡ LEGO MODULAR BUILDING CONTEST – JUDGES: An expert panel of judges from the LEGO Creator Expert team will select 1 grand prize winner. They will judge entries upon: originality and creativity of build – 25%, most inspiring details – 25%, attention to contest theme – 25%, best use of LEGO elements – 25%.
➡ LEGO MODULAR BUILDING CONTEST – PRIZES: One grand prize winner will receive: #10218 Pet Shop, #10243 Parisian Restaurant, #10246 Detective’s Office, #10232 Palace Cinema, #10251 Brick Bank, #10255 LEGO Assembly Square (10th Anniversary Modular Building). The winner will be contacted on the email address associated with their LEGO ID account after December 6th, 2016 and announced on ReBrick when the winner has returned the signed Winner’s Certification Documents. Wow! Would love to enter this! But I feel intimidated by all the awesome entries already. So many great ideas! I guess Lego could use these as future ideas for modular sets, so it’s a win for them too.
If you want to enter, just do the best you can. Presentation is key, so take good photos (or use LDD), and LEGO always likes to see something funny or clever, so adding a bit of humor is a good idea. I do agree that LEGO designers may get some ideas from the submissions. There are some really good ones. I don’t think I have every seen so many submissions at a Rebrick contest! 😀
Cool! This is one of the best contests ever! Too bad there is only one grand prize winner, but whoever wins is going to be super happy. So many great entries already!
Yeah, they normally have one grand prize winner and a couple of runner ups. I guess they wanted to keep this contest nice and tight with only the best of the best winning. But I think they are going to have a hard time choosing! 🙄
