LEGO minifig packs, mugs, plushies & more!

Besides the large wave of new LEGO sets that were just released (see: March 2017 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions), there are some interesting and unusual smaller items that you might have not noticed. Most LEGO fans will get their favorite new sets during the current Double VIP Points period (valid March 6-16th). So I thought you might want to check out these unique items as well while you are browsing the Online LEGO Shop. 🙂

LEGO NINJAGO ACCESSORY SET: The #853687 LEGO Ninjago Accessory Set includes three minifigures with exclusive prints and accessories. This set is full of unique pieces! Take a look at the torso-prints, the gray legs with black boots, the light-gray ninja hood, the black ice-cream cones, translucent-black minifig heads, the very rare sushi printed round tile, and extra hair pieces. The price is $12.99, and the set is available under the LEGO Ninjago section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO BATMAN MOVIE ACCESSORY SET: The #853651 LEGO Batman Movie Accessory Set is another super nice minifig-pack with three unique minifigures, torso prints, and accessories. Notice the very useful dual-moulded dark-blue legs with black boots on one of the officers! Chief O-Hara’s hair-piece is an exclusive color that only appears in here. The price is $12.99, and the set is available under The LEGO Batman Movie section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO EASTER EGG HUNT: The #40237 LEGO Easter Egg Hunt is a small and inexpensive set, but it is full of rare and interesting elements. The set features three of those fancy new fence panels in black, a henhouse with a chicken, a small flower garden with two lamps and a mailbox, a vegetable garden with a secret compartment, plus various buildable accessories and elements, including a wheelbarrow, magnifying glass, three eggs and a basket. The price is only $9.99, and the sets is available under the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO HUMAN-SCALED MUG IN BLACK: The standard LEGO cups that appear in so many LEGO sets are iconic part of LEGO’s history that has been around since 1979. In recent years LEGO released human-scaled versions of the cup that can be used as a mug in your home or office, so you can feel like a minifig! So far red, blue and translucent-purple mugs were available, and now LEGO also added a black one to commemorate The LEGO Batman Movie. The mugs are only $9.99, and you can find them at various sections (just search for mug) of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO BATMAN MOVIE NOTEBOOK: LEGO has been releasing notebooks for a good number of LEGO themes. Their unique feature is the baseplate embedded in the front cover that you can use for building. Small plates, tiles and other accessories are included with the notebooks, so you can decorate the cover. The LEGO Batman Movie Notebook is the latest in the collection. The price is $12.99, and you can find it under The LEGO Batman Movie section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO BATMAN MOVIE MAKER SET: The #853650 LEGO Batman Movie Maker set is similar to the old LEGO Studios sets, giving you a setting, backdrop and characters for your own LEGO brickfilms. This set features a double-sided cardboard backdrop with alternative scenes on each side, buildable LEGO scenery, camera rig to hold a smartphone, and a Batman minifigure with assorted props. The film set and backdrop measure over 7” (20cm) high, 14” (37cm) wide and 3” (10cm) deep, and the camera rig measures over 5” (15cm) high, 4” (12cm) wide and 5” (15cm) deep. The price is $19.99, and you can find it under The LEGO Batman Movie section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO MINIFIGURE PLUSHIES: Awww… so cute! This 12” (32cm) tall cuddly toy is an up-scaled version of the Batman minifigure and features brushed tricot fabric with silkscreen-printed decoration, including the iconic Bat-shaped symbol, cape and embroidered face details. There are other characters in this line, including Batgirl, and Nya and Kai from LEGO Ninjago, but in the USA only Batman is available at this point. Hopefully the other ones will be added soon. The price is $24.99. You can find Batman under The LEGO Batman Movie section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO NINJAGO TEMPLE OF AIRJITZU: The #70751 LEGO Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu is not a new set, but I wanted to point out that it is currently on sale. This is one of the most beautiful sets LEGO ever released. Even if you are not into Ninjago, but you do like Asian architecture, you will be very pleased with this set. It really is gorgeous (you can read my review here: LEGO Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu Review). The normal price is $199.99, and with 2028 pieces and a stunning design it is totally worth it at full price. The set is currently $40 off at $159.99. That’s an excellent deal, and you will also get Double VIP Points. You can find it under the LEGO Ninjago section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Hope this list helps you find something unique that you can add to the regular LEGO sets during the Double VIP Points period. They make great gift items, or (like in the case of the minifig accessory sets) excellent additions to your current LEGO collection.

What do you think? Are you planning to shop during the Double VIP Points period? How do you like these extra items that LEGO just released? Are you going to get any of them? Feel free to share your own thoughts and review in the comment section below! 😉

The Easter set is cute! Will definitely get that. And the plushies are adorable! How big are they?

    • admin March 9, 2017, 11:25 AM

According to the description, the plushies are 12 inches tall. Yes, the are cute. 🙂

First off the Ninjago accessory pack those are pearl dark gray ice cream cones not black. Second i should be getting that today as it is my B-Day! 😀

Oh! Thanks for correction! They looked black to me, but pearl-dark-gray is even better! I fixed it. I’m getting the set as well, but have to order it online. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 😀

Upon further exception the images are conflicting…the real image (not digital) definitely is dark pearl grey, but the digital images are black. :/

Hm… neither Brickset nor BrickLink has the parts-list yet, so I can’t verify which one is right. I guess we just have to wait until one of us will have the set in hand.

          Happy Birthday!
I hope you will get that set you want!

JANGBRiCKS just posted a video-review of the minifig pack, and the ice-cream cones are black. 😉

I definitely need to get the Ninjago accessory set , and just finished building the Dragon forge set. It is cool and Admin I ‘ll take your advice ( from a couple of days ago . ) To wait and see what sets are going to be for the Ninjago movie.

    • admin March 9, 2017, 2:45 PM

Nice! The accessory set will be a great supplement to your Dragon Forge. And yes, I think it’s wroth waiting for The Ninjago Movie sets (at least for preliminary images) if your budget is tight. 🙂

I definitely hope to get the Ninjago accessory pack at some point… also got one of the large trans-purple mugs on sale not too long ago but it hasn’t made it here quite yet. From what I’ve heard there a little smaller than they might look but still a decent size. I wonder if the other colors are likely to go on sale at some point too?

    • admin March 9, 2017, 4:31 PM

I have only seen the purple mug on sale. I think it’s because the purple one is technically not a traditional color for the mug. The red one and blue one always show up at full price. The black mug will probably be popular too. My favorite is the red mug. It makes me feel like a minifig. 😀

      • gid617 March 9, 2017, 7:04 PM

Well, purple being my favorite color, that one on sale was just right for me! 😀 I’d rather spend $10 on actual LEGO than on a cup, but otherwise the red one is really neat too, being as you say the same color as the average minifigure one (though of course there are yellows and as it happens I own a minifig-sized blue one too… and there are also of course pink and trans-clear and I don’t know what all other colors that have been produced…).

        • gid617 March 9, 2017, 7:17 PM

In a fit of curiosity I checked Bricklink and apparently there are a couple shades of pink plus trans-dark-pink, and also white and light violet. Those are the “known colors” but sellers evidently also have them in black, green, dark and light grey, old brown, tan, trans-pink, and trans-red (there are a few others but those seem to be mis-entries of more normal colors). Quite a selection! And of course there are a few with printing… those are always fun. Wonder if there’s any likelihood of LEGO selling a printed large version.

          • admin March 9, 2017, 8:34 PM

Now I want to collect cups! I only have white, yellow and red ones, and a few of the printed versions. Just the ones that came in sets – I never went out of my way to get the other colors. The Batman cup was a perfect opportunity for LEGO for making a printed human version, but they didn’t do it, so I’m not sure if they would ever print out cups. I want a blue one with Benny on it. 😀

I think the new classic small set is really cute. They are good for kids.

I have been wanting the Temple set for awhile and finally picked it up when it went on sale. I heard at some point late last year it was half off somewhere (don’t remember where) but definitely not where I am. I probably will pick up another set if I can ever find it half off.

    • admin March 10, 2017, 11:39 AM

Yes, LEGO Classic has a solid offering of both large and small sets with basic pieces. Sadly, many people still don’t know about them and think LEGO no longer makes basic brick boxes. I should write about those little sets as they are definitely cute and practical.

Last summer LEGO offered Triple VIP Points on the Ninjago Temple for a couple of weeks, and I do remember during the holiday season there were some decent sales too. 50% off would be amazing.

The Ninjago Accessory Pack is great, and I’m considering getting it when I visit the LEGO Store tomorrow. I just need to decide if I’m willing to spend $13 on three minifigs or not.
Also, I’m a day late on this: http://brickset.com/article/27001/75880-mclaren-720s-revealed! It’s a great-looking set (and it’s orange), but from the side view it doesn’t match the real car too well. The bump over the rear wheels is too pronounced, although I don’t see a fix for that. The inclusion of a designer minifig is nice; this must be the first SC set to not come with a proper driver. If it’s $15, I’ll be getting it in November. 🙂

    • admin March 10, 2017, 5:00 PM

Yeah, that car is so deliciously orange! And I really like the designer minifig and sketch. And, there are not that many stickers! So yeah, awesome car, even if it doesn’t match the real one perfectly. 🙂
