There are not a lot of new LEGO sets released in April, however there are some nice promotions, so if you have been waiting to purchase any of the previously released 2017 sets (or even earlier ones), this might be a good time to get them. So let’s take a look at what’s happening this month. 🙂
➡ FREE LEGO CREATOR MINI VW BEETLE: From April 1st to the 15th you will get a free #40252 LEGO Creator Mini Volkswagen Beetle with purchases of $50 or more. This sweet little set has been available in other countries earlier, and now it finally made its way to North America. It is basically a tiny version of the #10252 LEGO Creator Volkswagen Beetle with the included surfboard and red cooler on top (please note that all the decorations you see are stickers). Very cute, and a good source of those beautiful dark-azure pieces. This offer is valid on all orders at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ FREE LEGO FRIENDS TIC-TAC-TOE GAME: This is another very nice offer that is valid for the entire month of April. You will get a free LEGO Friends Tic-Tac-Toe Game with LEGO Friends purchases of $20 or more. (So, you will get both the VW Beetle and the Tic-Tac-Toe Game if your order is at least $50, including at least $20 worth of LEGO Friends sets – that’s an awesome offer!) The LEGO Friends game set includes a ridiculous number of cute little bunnies and hamsters, and is perfect for Easter! There are some really excellent LEGO Friends sets this year. I especially recommend the small LEGO Friends Hobbies collection with a great selection of unique and/or rare accessories, and they are only $9.99 each. The #41311 LEGO Friends Heartlake Pizzeria is another really nice set, and you might also want to check out the award-winning LEGO Friends Amusement Park collection. You can find them at the LEGO Friends section of the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ LEGO PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN SILENT MARY: While the #71042 LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Silent Mary became available to LEGO VIP members last month, it is now officially released to the general public. We talked about the set in detail previously (see links at the end of this post). It is a gorgeously detailed display-set for Pirates of the Caribbean fans and those who like big LEGO ships. You can find it under the LEGO Disney section of the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ LEGO PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN BRICKHEADZ: Two other sets related to the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales film that are now available are the #41593 LEGO BrickHeadz Captain Jack Sparrow and the #41594 LEGO BrickHeadz Captain Armando Salazar. Both sets belong to Series 1 of the LEGO BrickHeadz collection, which we have talked about previously (see links at the end). The sets are $9.99 each, and provide a fun building experience in a cute and blocky style. You can find both sets under the LEGO Disney section of the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ LEGO STAR WARS UCS SNOWSPEEDER: The #75144 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Snowspeeder is scheduled for release on May 4th (Star Wars Day), however LEGO VIP members will get early access to the set on April 29th. We have previewed and discussed the set here in detail: LEGO Star Wars UCS Snowspeeder Coming! It is already listed under the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ LEGO ARCHITECTURE GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM: The #21035 LEGO Architecture Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is now available. This is the latest release in the LEGO Architecture line, and features the Guggenheim’s modernist facade with its circular rotundas and distinctive lines, plus the eight-story annex tower and a section of New York City’s 5th Avenue Museum Mile including scaled yellow cabs. It’s substantial set with 744 pieces, beautiful curves, a lovely color-scheme, and printed elements to spell out the name on the building. The price is $79.99, and the set is available under the LEGO Architecture section of the Online LEGO Shop.
These are all the new offerings for April, which is not a bad thing, as it allows us to catch up on the large wave of new sets that were released last month, including LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Super Heroes, LEGO Minecraft, LEGO Elves, LEGO Technic, LEGO Speed Champions, LEGO Classic, and LEGO Brickheadz. You can find them all under the New Sets section of the Online LEGO Shop.
If you live near a LEGO store, there are also some Easter-related activities suitable for young LEGO fans. See the calendar below.

I gotta say I’m definitely liking the newer Architecture Guggenheim Museum more than the old one (21004) that I bought when it was out. Not that I’m planning to buy this one as well, but anyway…
Yeah, the new Guggenheim is definitely a solid set. The larger, more substantial Architecture sets are always very interesting, they look good on display, and the parts can be very useful as well.
I’m assuming that on May fourth that the other new Star Wars sets are coming out as well or that doesn’t happen until June ? I hope,it will be a moot point if the newer Star Wars sets come out later.
I haven’t heard specifically, but we should know something as we get closer to the date. 🙂
The Beetle looks great. Too bad it uses stickers, but it’s forgivable. Also, the hamsters in the Friends polybag are very rare, so it’s definitely worth getting that polybag too. The Guggenheim Museum looks interesting. Admin, are you going to review it?
Yeah, I plan to review the Guggenheim Museum as I really like it. Probably in the next week or so. And yes, both the bunnies/hamsters and the VW Beetle are awesome. 😀
We managed to get the Friends promo item and the VW yesterday. The VW is a fun build and very cute! I put it together as soon as we got home. I was bummed that our store’s Lego event for the 15th filled up more than a month in advance. 🙁 My daughter is going to miss out because as of March 11th it was already filled at our nearest store (which is about 75 miles away).
Sounds like the LEGO events in your area are very popular! It might be worth talking to the manager at your store next time you visit and ask them what would be the best course of action to make sure your daughter can go. Also, if they learn how many people are missing out, they might make some changes.
Shoot, is the mini Beetle sold out already? I can’t seem to get it to show up in my cart. =(
James, yeah, it looks like they are gone. It no longer shows up as a promotion on the front page of the Online LEGO Shop, and it is no longer added to the cart. 🙁
