April 2018 – new LEGO sets & promotions

This April is super fun because Easter and April Fools’ Day falls on the same day. I can’t wait to see and hear about all the pranks people (including LEGO fans) come up with! And, the fun doesn’t stop there! LEGO is offering some really sweet freebies this month, and there are also new sets available! Take a look below! 🙂

FREE LEGO MINIFIGURE FACTORY: This little set has so much going for it! Packed in a cardboard display-box, it includes a LEGO employee working on some nano-figures on an assembly line. There is a tiny blue LEGO Classic Space man, a black classic police officer, Pixal from LEGO Ninjago (white & purple character), a white mini nurse figure, and a red pirate. And, there is also another new color paintbrush! The #5005358 LEGO Minifigure Factory set is available April 1-15 with purchases of $75 or more at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

FREE LEGO STAR WARS DARTH VADER POD: Between April 13th to May 3rd you will get a #5005376 LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Pod with LEGO Star Wars purchases of $60 or more. This is a highly desirable set in the LEGO Collectible Pods series, so make sure you don’t miss out. The promotion will run at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO FRIENDS PODS COLLECTION: Speaking of collectible pods, if you like to collect them, don’t forget about the five new LEGO Friends pods that were released last month – one for each of the five LEGO Friends; the #853774 LEGO Friends Olivia’s Satellite Pod, the #853775 LEGO Friends Andrea’s DJ Pod, the #853776 LEGO Friends Emma’s Photo Studio Pod, the #853777 LEGO Friends Mia’s Exploration Pod, and the #853778 LEGO Friends Stephanie’s Pool Pod. Each of the pods include one of the girls, and a bunch of really sweet accessories. They are available under the LEGO Friends section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO IDEAS TRON: LEGACY AVAILABLE: The #21314 LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy set is now available. We have discussed this set in detail a few days ago (see: LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy Set Review). For your convenience, I’m repeating here the official description: Build, play and display with this futuristic #21314 LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy set from Disney, featuring 2 Light Cycles, each with minifigure seats and translucent-colored light-style elements, plus a divisible TRON grid with attachment points for the vehicles. Use the grid as a display-base for the Light Cycles or split it in 2 to recreate the chase scene from Disney’s TRON: Legacy movie. Alternatively, stage an Identity Disc battle between the 3 included LEGO minifigures – Sam Flynn, Quorra and Rinzler – on the grid. This construction toy includes a booklet with information about its fan creator and LEGO designers, plus the lowdown on Disney’s TRON: Legacy movie and its main characters. Each Light Cycle measures over 1″ (5cm) high, 6” (17cm) long and 1” (4cm) wide. TRON grid/display-base measures over 8” (22cm) wide and 3” (9cm) deep. 230 pieces. Price: $34.99. Available at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

NEW LEGO BRICKHEADZ AVAILABLE: Four new characters have been added to the LEGO BrickHeadz collection: #41604 LEGO BrickHeadz Iron Man MK50, #41605 LEGO BrickHeadz Thanos, #41606 LEGO BrickHeadz Star-Lord, and #41507 LEGO BrickHeadz Gamora. In addition, there is also the new #41597 LEGO BrickHeadz Go Brick Me set for building your own LEGO BrickHeadz characters. See the LEGO BrickHeadz section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO COLLECTIBLE MINIFIGURES SERIES 18: The LEGO Collectible Minifigures: Party Series includes tons of new accessories and costumes, and features a host of brightly dressed characters. The collection includes the Dragon Suit Guy, Firework Guy, Elephant Costume Girl, LEGO Brick Suit Guy, LEGO Brick Suit Girl, Cactus Girl, Party Clown, Cake Guy, Unicorn Guy, Flowerpot Girl, Birthday Party Girl, Birthday Party Boy, Spider Suit Boy, Cowboy Costume Guy, Race Car Guy, Cat Costume Girl and, last but not least, a rare replica of one of the first minifigures ever produced—the 1978 Police Officer. Each minifigure comes in a sealed ‘mystery’ bag, together with one or more accessory elements, plus a collector’s leaflet and a unique display baseplate. Available for $3.99 each, at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

In summary, both the first and second half of the month have excellent freebies that are highly desirable by collectors. If you would like either of them or both, I recommend that you place your order as soon as the promotion starts to make sure they are still available. There are a number of new sets to try out as well, and there is plenty to choose from amongst all the sets that have been released since the beginning of the year. This includes the #76105 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition, the #10260 LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (the latest in the LEGO Modular Building series), the #21039 LEGO Architecture Shanghai set, and many new sets under the LEGO BrickHeadz, LEGO Classic, LEGO City, LEGO Creator, LEGO Disney, LEGO Elves, LEGO Friends, LEGO Juniors, LEGO Minecraft, LEGO Nexo Knights, LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO DC Super Heroes, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and LEGO Technic , and LEGO Speed Champions categories. Also, don’t forget some of recent big releases like the #21309 LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V, the #21313 LEGO Ideas Ship In A Bottle, the #70922 LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Manor, and the #10256 LEGO Creator Taj Mahal. You can find them all under the What’s New section of the Online LEGO Shop.

I don’t see the Brickheadz customizer set. Is it available?

    • admin April 1, 2018, 11:36 AM

It’s there. It’s just missing the thumbnail. Follow the link to the BrickHeadz section and it will be the first item. 😉

  • brickmaster April 1, 2018, 11:43 AM

Alert!!!! The young Han Solo and Chewbacca Brickheadz are also available! 😀

    • Sith015 April 1, 2018, 3:57 PM

Cool! But Chewy doesn’t look right!

      • Håkan April 1, 2018, 5:44 PM

It’s hard to make him look right as a Brickhead…

Otherwise, that little build in the Darth Vader pod is actually pretty clever!

    • admin April 1, 2018, 10:50 PM

Awesome! Thanks for sharing that! They didn’t show up yesterday under the coming soon page, so this is super cool. 😀

This is not a bad month at all! The Tron set, plus the Brickheadz customizer are both great! And I really like the minifig factory with all those microfigures. What is everyone else getting?

    • admin April 1, 2018, 10:50 PM

Those are my two favorite sets too. I already have TRON, and I just ordered the Go Brick Me set (plus a few other little odds and ends) this morning. I can’t wait to play with that set! 😀

When are we getting the Harry Potter set? Any news on those?

  • Legostuff71 April 1, 2018, 8:30 PM

From what I heard ,the Harry Potter sets don’t come out until August . I would like to know when the Jurassic world sets come out?

    • admin April 1, 2018, 10:48 PM

What I have heard, the Jurassic World sets will be available the same day the movie gets released. So, June 22nd.

The costumed minifigs are so cute! Too bad you can’t order specific ones online. We will have to wait until they are available in stores.

    • admin April 2, 2018, 4:23 PM

Yeah, that’s always an issue when you don’t have a LEGO store near you. It can take months before a new series shows up. One thing you could do is order random ones online, and then just sell or trade the ones you don’t want.

Of all the Ninjago Characters they could have done in nano-scale, it had to be Pixal… 😛

    • Håkan April 2, 2018, 3:17 PM

Others have noted that Pixal is A. female and B. easily distinguishable at a smaller scale. Many of the main Ninjago characters look rather generic.

      • gid617 April 2, 2018, 5:04 PM

Hmm… I still would have vastly preferred a generic ninja… 😉 Zane would probably have been at least as distinguishable. Or a new molded four-armed Garmadon would have been so cute! 😆
Nevertheless I have to say that I like this nano Pixal better than the original. 😛

        • Håkan April 2, 2018, 5:47 PM

A new nanofig mold? Dream on!

        • admin April 2, 2018, 9:46 PM

They should really make all the ninja in nano form. Sure, the printing would be tiny, but it’s really the colors that distinguish the ninja anyway.

          • Håkan April 3, 2018, 8:33 AM

Hoods and helmets work pretty good in nanofig form, anyway. Medieval helmets and pirate bicornes look worse.

            • admin April 3, 2018, 1:16 PM

They could make teeny-tiny helmets for those guys. I know it’s not gonna happen, but they did mace one single really nice helmet for the micro-figs, so we can dream. 🙄

          • gid617 April 3, 2018, 5:45 PM

            Yeah, exactly!

And come on, you can’t tell me there aren’t people who would die for a nano-Garmadon! 😆 Seriously, I think I’m on to something! Just got to convince LEGO of it… 😛 But after all, who would have predicted printed nano-figures back when they first came out?

            • admin April 3, 2018, 10:17 PM

It’s actually quite amazing they can print on such tiny figures. You practically have to get a magnifying glass to see the printing! 😀

  • Will April 2, 2018, 8:55 PM

I’m hoping for the best with some random CMFs. I have enough members in my club that trading won’t be an issue.

For those with a Target in their area you can always try using the old DPCI number since they haven’t changed it for the last like four series. If I recall it’s something like 204001379. Most of the time they just don’t realize they can pull it out since the street date is April 1st.

And I want all thos Brickheadz. Man, I’m still trying to catch up from earlier this year.

    hi –
please see below – the article states that the vader pod is available for purchases OTHER than star wars stuff –
    the calendar clearly states:
“with a lego STAR WARS” purchase of $60 or more…..
the vader pod was NOT added to my cart, when i tried adding something valued at 99 that was not a STAR WARS item…..

➡ FREE LEGO STAR WARS DARTH VADER POD: Between April 13th to May 3rd you will get a #5005376 LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Podwith purchases of $60 or more. This is a highly desirable set in the LEGO Collectible Pods series, so make sure you don’t miss out. Note that it’s available with all purchases not just LEGO Star Wars sets, so it will be easier to meet the minimum threshold. The promotion will be available at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

    • admin April 24, 2018, 1:53 PM

Howard, yes, we have discussed this, and I have updated the info in a subsequent article when the promotion started, but forgot to update it here. Thanks for the reminder. I just fixed it. 🙂
