Wonder Woman & Minions with Double VIP Points

There are two LEGO sets available with Double VIP Points this month, and interestingly they are both brand new releases. The two sets are the #76157 LEGO DC Super Heroes Wonder Woman vs. Cheetah, and the #75551 LEGO Brick-built Minions and Their Lair.

The #76157 LEGO DC Super Heroes Wonder Woman vs. Cheetah set is related to the Wonder Woman 1984 movie that is scheduled for release mid-August of this year. As the film is not out yet we don’t know all the details, but the set description does explain that there is an epic battle between Wonder Woman and her archenemy, Cheetah, near a massive transmitter tower.

“This action-packed play-set gives kids double the fun. Down below in the bunker, Max tries to enter the tower, while overhead the transmitter panels rotate. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman and Cheetah confront each other. With super-cool features and so many possibilities for play, young super heroes will experience endless imaginative fun.”

The bunker is fairly basic, with a door on one side and an open area at the back for play. The transmitter at the top looks awesome with all those printed golden clip-on squares! My guess is that space fans and sci-fi fans are going to really love those pieces! The set comes with 371 pieces, and the price is $39.99, which is pretty decent. In the video below, you can see the set in more detail, and if you want to check it out, it’s available at the LEGO DC Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #75551 LEGO Brick-built Minions and Their Lair is the second set with Double VIP Points this month. Inspired by the Minions: The Rise of Gru movie (scheduled for release in early July), the set includes a brick-built version of Kevin and Stuart. The back of each figure opens up to find a whole playroom inside. Oh, and Kevin can be rebuilt into Bob. There are also three regular minifigs included as well.

Kevin is over 5” (15cm) tall, Stuart is 5” (14cm) tall, and Bob is 4” (12cm) tall, making them ideal for play and display. The set comes with 876 pieces, and the price is $49.99, which is an unusually good price/piece ratio. You can watch the video-review below for further details, and find the set at the LEGO Minions section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? Are you planning to get either of these sets this month? Or do you have them already? Feel free to share your thoughts and own reviews in the comment section below!

I’m tempted to get the wonder woman set for those panels. They look awesome. Minions, I don’t care for.

I wonder what’s coming out in June or July. I know Harry potter sets are coming out in August, but, that’s all I know. Is there any other news on the next wave of sets that are coming?

My understanding is that the next big wave of releases will be in August, but it is possible that they will do it more gradually. This includes City, Friends, Hidden Side, Jurassic World, etc. Also, with the virus thing, things are definitely getting delayed. The factory in Mexico is still closed, which is where North America normally gets sets from.

There are some listings in the end of this post, although it’s unsure on when in summer each theme would be released.

Are there any new Star Wars sets coming?

I’m just curious when new sets from the Hidden Side comes out and it’s good and bad that there’s some delay because some of us need to replenish our financial funds. Those Monkie kid sets really took a bite out of my savings. I thought there were coming out in June or July.( those sets will arrived at my doorstep either tomorrow or the next day.) I was also wondering do you think monkie kid and hidden side can team up.( This is kind of a somewhat foolish question because imagination has no limits.)🤔👻🐵.

I would like to see a comparison between the Lego minions and the Megabloks minions. Is that possible?

    • Thita (admin) May 20, 2020, 8:14 PM

Hm… I do have some of the Mega Minions sets somewhere. I think I got one of the smaller ones. I will just have to dig it out from storage. So yes, it’s possible. 🙂

I also have a few of the Mega Minionfigs from a second hand thrift store bulk. As a quick overlook, the Megaminions are more of a single mold, so they might be less customizable, although the eyepieces and headpieces – such as hair and headphones – are swapable.

You can tell the difference between the two companies, but I think Lego is better quality. As for my comment above about monkie kid and Hidden Side. I think maybe Ultra Agents might work better because I can call pigsy agent “oink”. LOL!

LOL! I think Pigsy is going to be a favorite character based on what I’m seeing in the trailer. And sure, he could totally be an undercover agent! 😀

Double Oink Seven – License to Swill !

    I like that, hakan.😁

Unfortunately I don’t think release dates matter anymore when you can’t produce enough product to even call it a release. The Haunted House officially comes out June 1st but it’s already out of stock on lego.com
Same thing happened with barracuda bay. They are not even taking back orders on these sets. That means they don’t even know when they will be available. It’s very sad 😔

    • Thita (admin) May 22, 2020, 10:11 AM

Ron, the factory in Mexico is closed by government mandate, and since that’s where sets distributed in North America come from, Lego has been having do to a lot of shifting around globally to cater to the American market. They are trying their best with under the current situation.

Also, something to note that we were told on the LEGO Ambassador Forum. When sets are on the way in a reasonable amount of time and they can be fairly certain they can deliver them in around a month, they will mark them as available for backorder. If there are longer delays, they will mark them as out of stock with no possibility of backorder. This is a temporary state that can change from day to day. As soon as they hear that new stock is on its way, they will mark it as available, then available for backorder.

The bottom line is that you have to check often. As far as early VIP sets, they have a certain number of sets available for early for VIPs. Once that runs out, they will wait until the wider release day to make the rest of it available. So, if an early VIP set is shown as out of stock, it doesn’t mean that it won’t be available on the wider release date. However, if it’s a popular set, you will have to jump on it fairly quickly before it has to be set to out of stock again.

If you have further questions just let me know. This is a topic we get ongoing updates on at the Ambassador Forum. As I said, they are aware of the shortages, the shortages are happening for reasons out of their control, and they are trying to do their best.
