Special LEGO VIP Collectible Coins & Display Case

Since the reinvention of the LEGO VIP Program, LEGO fans can redeem their accumulated VIP Points not just as discounts on LEGO purchases, but they can also use their VIP Points to redeem various other rewards like LEGO artwork, exclusive LEGO sets, and commemorative items.

Currently, LEGO is offering a couple of interesting collectibles that I thought our readers might like; a LEGO Castle Logo Collectible Coin and a LEGO Collectible Coin Display Case. The collectible coin features the iconic LEGO Castle Fantasy Era logo on one side and the LEGO VIP logo on the other. There is no information on what the coin is made of, but the fact that it costs 1,150 points (about $10) seems to indicate that it is higher quality and most likely made of some kind of metal alloy.

The LEGO Collectible Coin Display costs 700 points (about $5), and it showcases four other coins with iconic LEGO logos: LEGO Classic Space, LEGO Octan, LEGO Pirates, and a generic golden coin with the LEGO logo. Please note that the additional coins do not come with the display case. We can assume that these will be redeemable coins in the future. You will only receive the empty display case with this promotion, which you can use to display your coin collection.

If you are interested to get the LEGO Castle Logo Collectible Coin and the LEGO Collectible Coin Display, you can purchase them with your redeemable points at the LEGO VIP website. They are two separate item, so you don’t have to get both at the same time if you don’t have all the needed points. I would focus on getting the coin first, as that will likely run out before the display case. Once you redeem your points, you will receive a promotional code for the item(s), which you can redeem with your next purchase at the Online LEGO Shop. Please note that the code(s) are valid for 60 days and must be entered during checkout in the field labeled ‘Enter Promo Code’.

Most savvy LEGO fans redeem their points for a discount on purchases, but occasionally a nice commemorative item like this comes along and it might be worth spending some points on it. Getting the full collection isn’t going to be cheap ($55 worth of points), but I know collectors are especially fond of special exclusives like this. Anyhow, if you like to check it out visit the LEGO VIP Program Reward Center. And if you need extra points, take a look at all the new sets that were released this year at the what’s new section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like this collectible coin collection? Are you interested to get it? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below.

Are these painted, printed, or enameled?

    • brickmaster January 25, 2021, 10:14 AM

I was reading another review on these, and it said that they were enameled. And also that there is a variation of color for the crown from gold to pink.

I’m tempted to collect these, but I don’t know if it’s really worth it. I wish I could just buy them outright instead of having to spend VIP points bit by bit.

People will likely sell them on ebay and bricklink once the full collection is available. If I were you, I would wait until then.

Yeah, it seems like some scalpers would try collecting a set, because they’re expecting a bigger payoff on eBay once they’re complete. Could be a risky move, though.

Myself, I earn so few VIP points, that I mostly try to collect discounts…

Stuff like this should be given away as VIP freebies, not having to spend extra VIP points on them.

I like them, but I don’t want to spend vip points on them. That’s saved for real lego!

Like others said, I rather not spend valuable VIP points on this, but I wouldn’t mind having them.

Off topic, but did you guys see that Bionicle is number one in the Ideas survey to become an anniversary set? The other two in the top three are classic castle and pirates.

    • yoladiel January 25, 2021, 10:00 PM

I saw that! It’s crazy! I was kind of joking that Bionicle fans may take over the survey, but I wasn’t expecting them to actually do it. LOL!

      • yoladiel January 25, 2021, 10:01 PM

I was expecting one of the castle themes to be in the top three. And I’m surprised pirates made it there as we just got a major pirate set recently.

        • Håkan January 26, 2021, 9:56 AM

Yeah. I wouldn’t know about Bionicle’s chances, anyway, since it’s doubtful even if the Gen2 CCBS part molds still are available. There were rumors about a new Gen3 CCBS system, though, so then Bionicle might still stand a chance.

It seems CCBS sets generally have sold relatively poorly, though. And Gen2 Bionicle failed to capture either new kids or nostalgic Gen1 fans, so I’m not sure on Lego’s current ideas.

And Classic Space is always popular, despite all relatively recent throwbacks with Benny’s Spaceship Spaceship Spaceship!, Exo-Suit, Benny’s Space Squad, and the Orange Spaceman.

(DuckBricks had a YouTube video where he argued that the main point of the vote was free AFOL marketing research. Which is an interesting point.)

How big are these coins? It’s hard to judge from the pictures.

    • Ed February 1, 2021, 1:40 AM

brickset review says coin is approx 4 cm diameter (1.5 inches)

  • Daria Parker January 31, 2021, 8:04 AM

I went to get the coin & case & the case was sold out already. Also I didn’t know that using points on a promo item meant you still had to purchase something.

Like I already purchased something to get my points & now I have to purchase something to get my promo item I used my points to get.

    Lego is starting to suck!
