I read about this, but I forgot it was this weekend! Thanks for posting! I’m planning to sort some bricks while listening in. Haha. 😀

How does one actually have a virtual convention? I tried one once. It’s like watching a tv show and should be free. The camera men don’t show the stuff I want to see and they spend way to much time with interviewing creators. I just want to look at things at my speed and of my interest, not some guy with a camera that thinks minifigs are the greatest thing ever and wants to see all the live interviews. BORING!

It says that you can watch it later if you want to skip parts. I think it’s awesome they are doing this. Many of us are still stuck at home with not much social interaction. Just saying.

      It is free.

Is this mostly for families of afols?

    • Master Builder June 25, 2021, 4:49 PM

From what I have seen they are advertising to families with teens.

Yay! This is awesome! Perfect for a rainy day (we have been getting a lot of rain lately). I’m curious how they are going to make the event interactive. Is it like zoom?

Cool! I’m going to check it out! I hope their website won’t crash, haha.

  • Sith015 June 25, 2021, 7:16 PM

Ah, man, I will be out of town! I hope I can access it through my phone!

Did you guys watch it? I liked the first half an hour or so. The Afol presentations were the best, and the interview with the astronaut guy was interesting. But after those it seems like everything was rushed and too disjointed.

I pretty much liked the same things. What I didn’t like was the camerawork. When they were showing the new Star Wars sets, the camera was like a mile away. They never even showed a closeup of the minifigs.!

They had a couple of glitches, but otherwise it was okay. I wish there were more interviews with the designers and afols. The dots thing was lame and it took up too much time.

  • Okosh June 28, 2021, 12:14 PM

This wasn’t a true con. More like, a blur of short advertisements. But I liked the sessions with the designers, and the intro with the AFOLs was great!

I enjoyed some parts of it, but there was no point in making this a live event and forcing people to participate at a specific time. There was nothing really interactive about it that couldn’t have been done in another way. The whole event could have worked perfectly well as a youtube video. If they do this next year, I will just watch the replay when it’s more convenient for me.
