This year, we’re celebrating two decades of LEGO Harry Potter and the LEGO Ideas team is running a contest to mark the occasion. They are looking for a magnificently magical creative build, that celebrates everything you love about LEGO Harry Potter. And to make the projects more festive, the LEGO Ideas team asks participants to include the number 20 somewhere in the project, big or small. (Make sure you show the number in one of the photos you submit in case it’s a magically hidden detail.) Below are the details.
The contest consists of three phases: Submission Phase – Build and submit your entry before October 6th, 2021 at 6:00 a.m. EST. Judging Phase – LEGO Ideas judges review the entries and choose the winners by October 21st, 2021. Winners Announcement – The Grand Prize winner and two Runner Up winners are announced on LEGO Ideas no later than October 28th, 2021.
Submissions may be in either physical bricks or by using a digital building tool such as LEGO Digital Designer. You’re welcome to use image editing tools, such as Photoshop, to enhance your photos/presentation. Take up to five photos of your creation and submit them to the contest. Make sure to show off all angles and any features or functions of your creation. If possible, the shortest edge should be at least 1080 pixels. Add a title and short description. Upload your entry to the contest using the blue submit your entry on the Contest Entry Page. Submit your entry no later than October 6th, 2021 at 6:00 a.m. EST.
A panel of judges consisting of members of the LEGO Harry Potter team will choose a grand prize winner and two runner up winners. The grand prize winner will receive the following prizes: #76386 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts: Polyjuice Potion Mistake, #76387 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter, #76389 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets, #76391 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons – Collectors’ Edition, and #76394 LEGO Harry Potter Fawkes – Dumbledore’s Phoenix. Two runner up winners will each receive: #76391 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons – Collectors’ Edition, and #6232944 LEGO Harry Potter Limited Edition Minifigures.
Like with all LEGO Ideas contest, you must be at least 13 to participate. You can read other contest rules and other finer details at the Contest Entry Page. And if you would like to enter the contest but you need some inspiration, you can also check out the entries already submitted, or take a look a the LEGO Harry Potter section of the Online LEGO Shop.
I like that the contest is open ended with few rules. This allows pretty much unlimited creativity from the participants. What do you think? How do you like this LEGO Ideas contest? Are you planning to enter? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below!
