I know many of our readers are interested in the newly released #71799 LEGO Ninjago City Markets, and for good reasons! The set is the latest in the LEGO Ninjago City collection, and it’s full of unique building techniques, interesting references, fun play-features, and tons of minifigures.
I don’t have the set yet, but I thought to share some of the early video reviews that I found particularly informative. The first one is by former LEGO designer Tiago Catarino. Although Tiago is a little hard to understand at times as he is originally from Portugal (helpfully, subtitles are included on his videos), his intimate knowledge of the LEGO design process and his appreciation of unique building techniques make his reviews especially valuable.
The second review video is by Caleb Schilling. You might remember Caleb and his twin brother Jacob as they were contestants on Season 2 of LEGO Masters They ultimately placed third in the contest with some incredible builds.
The #71799 LEGO Ninjago City Markets set is full of references to Ninjago lore as well as other LEGO themes and even references outside of the LEGO hobby. In the video below, Chris from DuckBrick attempts to find them and discuss them all!
The next video is by Bricksie. I like his review as he shares details of the set as he builds it and also discussed how certain parts of the set could be re-used in other applications.
Finally, here is a speed-build of the set by Brick Builder, in case you just want to see how it comes together. Speed-build videos are also useful when you get stuck on a building step. Just forward the video to that particular section and see how the parts come together.
The #71799 LEGO Ninjago City Markets set can be displayed alone, or it could be combined with some or all of the previously released LEGO Ninjago City sets; #70620 LEGO Ninjago City, #70657 LEGO Ninjago City Docks, #71741 LEGO Ninjago City Gardens. Although the first two sets are now retired, the last one is still available at the LEGO Ninjago section of the Online LEGO Shop.
What do you think? How do you like LEGO Ninjago City Markets? Did you notice any interesting details from the video reviews? Are you planning to add the set to your collection? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!

I feel that this set is too bare in the middle section. Like it doesn’t have as many details as the other sets. This supposed to be a busy Asian market.
The gondola is great. I would love to add that somehow to my city.
The easter eggs video was really interesting. There are a lot more references in the set than I was aware of. Now I really want to build it!
I’m trying to stay away from such expensive sets. Space is also becoming a more pressing issue for me. I have no where to expand my city!
