Over the past months, the LEGO Ideas review board evaluated 48 qualifying product ideas, all of which demonstrated a huge array of creativity and innovation. All these designs achieved the landmark ‘10k’ status between early Jan 2024 and early May 2024. Yesterday, the LEGO Ideas team announced that they have selected one of these projects to become an official LEGO Ideas set.
The chosen project is the LEGO Mineral Displays by ddf72. It’s interesting to note that this is the second time this project made it to 10k votes on LEGO Ideas, however, the first time around it wasn’t selected to become an official LEGO set. This second time, the designer made some changes to make sure that all the minerals could be built from currently available parts, and a display case was also added.
The collection is composed of 6 pieces: Rhodochrosite, Amethyst Geode, Black Tourmaline with Aquamarine, Orange Quartz, Emerald, and Pyrite. You can find more details and pictures of this project at this LEGO Ideas page, and you can see the full list of projects in this round at this LEGO Ideas page. And if you want to check out the currently available sets originally designed by LEGO fans, visit the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Translucent pieces! Lots of them! Bring it on! 🤗
You know how the flower/botanical sets generally have some really clever construction and piece use? Gems and crystals would be… the exact opposite of that.
My nephew will love this! He is really into rocks. I hope the instructions will include some educational material about each rock.
Has this set made it yet? I am a huge crystal junkie, so this is right up my alley!
That was the point of the announcement. That it will be made. But the final pricing and availability will be announced later.
I’m not too interested in this one, but I’m glad they are trying something different. At least 10k people wanted this, so that says something.
And that’s the only one they picked from 48 submissions?! A handful of rocks?!
I’m surprised about that too. I guess they are too far behind in production and they are trying to slow things down?
