Hello, I’m David, but I like people calling me HP. I have been a LEGO fan since I was 2-3 years old and I’m still very active in the hobby. I did go through a period when I didn’t build with LEGO though, referred to by LEGO fans as the Dark Ages.

I’ve been posting on theBrickBlogger for a while now, and I hope to continue writing here in the future. It’s a joy to see that the community likes and appreciates my contributions, so thanks, everyone!

So that’s aboutย all I can think of sharing about me. Want to know more? Feel free to ask and get in touch in the comments section below.

Thanks Admin for this! Made my day! ๐Ÿ˜€

btw, i think you misspelled Philippine Bricksters to Philippe Bricksters ๐Ÿ˜›

    • admin November 1, 2013, 9:24 AM

Got it fixed. BTW, I took out a couple of dates as they seem to have been off. You mentioned you ran across TBB in 2009, but I didn’t start the website until mid-November of 2010, and I spent the first month just figuring out the tech side of things (I was brand new to blogging). I think I wrote like 2-3 posts in 2010 just to test out how to do it. I consider January 1st of 2011 the birth of TBB. That’s when I posted the LEGO magnet removal guide, which resulted in TBB’s traffic and subscribers taking off. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh, also I meant to ask you; how did you get the name HP? ๐Ÿ™‚

        • HP November 1, 2013, 11:02 AM

My memory might be really fuzzy. That’s what i recall though.

          • admin November 1, 2013, 12:21 PM

Interesting! There is always a fun story behind a name! I could look up your first comment, but I would need your previous email address (or at least the unique part of it), otherwise if I just type in HP in the admin dashboard search box for comments, I would get every single comment that somehow has HP in the username, email or comment. ๐Ÿ™„

If i remember correctly it would either be… (edited by Admin for privacy)

I think this link ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60og9gwKh1o ) would be better for the numa numa song, since this is the one i used in the school pageant. and how i made the entire school laugh.

                • admin November 2, 2013, 10:55 AM

Okay, I will add that. I think I will add both, as some people don’t know the original. ๐Ÿ˜‰

              • admin November 2, 2013, 10:53 AM

Okay, using those your first comment would be June 4th, 2014, about how to become a contributor. You sent your first post in two days later. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I see! Your brother was right!

You REALLY need to add a translation to ไฝ ๅฅฝ. I can read it, but mostly because I have rudimentary (and I mean veeeerrrrry rudimentary) skills in Chinese. You know, just a link like this:

    https://translate.google.com/?pws=0&q=%E4%BD%A0%E5%A5%BD&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&sa=N&tab=wT

Otherwise, congrats. I will now tell you why I haven’t wrote the BYW article. One, my daily tests are starting (Yes, my school has an average of 4 tests per week.) and two, I plan to upload the pictures to my Flickr Account first, so people can see more pictures, but Flickr upload times have been very slow…

    • Fikko3107 November 1, 2013, 1:44 PM

I’m feeling rather shameful by now. I am practically fully Chinese, more-or-less, yet I could not speak the language. There’s a somewhat plausible excuse to this, which is far too long to explain and thus I’ll just post a few Wikipedia links:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Indonesians
To simplify, there was a time that Chinese people was met with such hostility here, that the very act of speaking or teaching Chinese can be prosecuted as heresy. Yeah, it was pretty bad. It culminated into this:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_1998_riots_of_Indonesia
Sure, that was a long time ago, but the butterfly effect is, My grandpa can’t teach my dad, and my dad can’t teach me. Something like that. Sure, I have Chinese lessons in school, but still…
Or maybe it’s just that I’m lazy.

Ignore all of the above, it is just me being lazy.

Nevertheless, do you know how embarrassing it is to walk around a Chinatown, have some Chinese guy come up to you and ramble in Chinese, only for you to apologize in English that you can’t speak the language?

      • admin November 2, 2013, 12:14 PM

Sad that even in this day and age, when we supposed to be so advanced, we still persecute people just because of the color of their skin and the language they speak. All languages are beautiful, with so many interesting and unique ways to express what we see and experience inside of us and in the world around us. Knowing more than one language really expands your mind and your perseption – it causes a certain shift that someone who only speaks one language cannot understand; you realise that our perseption is not absolute, nor is the way we express it. This in turn results in a more open mind, more tolerance towards others, and also curiosity towards learning new ways to see and experience the world. Which brings us hope for a more peaceful co-existence…

        • admin November 2, 2013, 12:19 PM

I was reading somewhere that actually all scientific discoveries are nothing more than a shift in perception by someone keeping an open mind. Electricity was always there – it was the shift of perception of one person to discover how to utilize it. The ability to fly was always there, but it took us some time to first of all even believe that we can do it. And our planet was always round, but it took many people getting killed as heretics for suggesting that – which resulted of humanity being stuck in the dark ages for quite some time… and we are still there in regards to many topics and possibilities…

4 tests a week doesn’t seem that bad. Our school usually has 4 tests a day! -_- I just hope it could be done before the year ends. Could you link me to your flickr account?

      • Fikko3107 November 2, 2013, 12:02 PM

        • Fikko3107 November 3, 2013, 3:56 AM

By the way HP, how did you type in Chinese? I tried to download the Windows Chinese Language Pack, but it backfired when Windows detected that I was using a counterfeit Windows…

          • HP November 3, 2013, 4:47 AM

I usually use an iPad to type in Chinese, but if you know the pin yin for chinese words, go to google translate, and click chinese, and there would be an input method youcould choose from there. Then simply copy paste ๐Ÿ˜€

Nice to meet you HP! I’m a Christian too. I love to whistle. Sometimes at my job I drive my coworkers nuts though.

        • Fikko3107 December 8, 2013, 3:53 AM

That’s…slightly stereotyping. Hong Kong have more than fish. I don’t really like fish either, but if you’re good with Chinese Food, you’re good with Hong Kong. Besides, Hong Kong is one of the best places in Asia to buy LEGO, in fact, I should persuade my parents to go on a trip to Hong Kong again…

  • ~EliteBrick~ November 2, 2013, 8:51 AM

  • Chi-bacca November 4, 2013, 2:11 PM

Probably a bit late but welcome! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m no longer the newbie round here (no offense ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

    • HP November 7, 2013, 7:48 AM

I wouldn’t consider myself a newbie either just late to get a contributors page, since my first post here was on June, 2012 ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Chi-bacca November 8, 2013, 4:05 AM

Oh ๐Ÿ˜ณ I didn’t know that, I came in about this time last year so missed that one. Sorry LOL

  • LK2 December 24, 2013, 3:24 PM

Can you program? I just read through this post and came to that bit :P. I’m an expereienced in HTML and CSS, intermediate in JS and pretty bad in everything thing else (I know ONE line of code in C++! :D)

    • Fikko3107 January 2, 2014, 3:14 AM

I’m learned in HTML and CSS, though I’ve mostly forgotten that. I am, however, quite OK with C++, though I’m currently stumped about how to make a prime number logic program…
