The LEGO Movie summer sets?

We are just starting to get ourselves acquainted with the incredibly fun The LEGO Movie sets, and there is already news of possible future sets. On gamers’ forum NeoGAF member PhoncipleBone shared some images from an upcoming The LEGO Movie book. So let’s take a look! 🙂

The LEGO Movie Logo

The first The LEGO Movie set is Benny’s (the 1980s something space-guy from The LEGO Movie) Spaceship. If you are a LEGO fan who grew up in the ’80s you will probably faint seeing this picture. The LEGO Alien Conquest sets released a couple of years ago were a really nice reminder of LEGO Classic Space, but this set is pretty much right out of that era! Benny is bringing us back some very good times! Also notice the cute blue Astro Kitty!

The next The LEGO Movie set is Emmet’s Construction Mech. This thing is huge and looks absolutely fantastic. It also has the same kind of special code on the front as the currently released The LEGO Movie fire-truck mech (#70813), which should unlock something special in the upcoming The LEGO Movie game. To me this indicates that these are definitely going to be real sets, and not just built for the book. Just sayin’. 🙄

The last The LEGO Movie set is a Police Dropship. It has the same styling as the police vehicles in the other The LEGO Movie sets, and I believe this is going to be the largest police-vehicle in the series.

But wait, there is more! Check out the picture below! Here members of LEGO’s staff are showing off with The LEGO Movie sets; both the ones that have been released already, and the ones we just talked about. Have you noticed thought that outrageously huge pirate-ship on the left-hand side? It most likely belongs to Metalbeard. If this get’s released by LEGO it is going to be the largest official LEGO ship ever! 😀

The LEGO Movie 2014 Summer Sets

I have been very excited about the first wave of The LEGO Movie sets and would have been perfectly happy if that’s all LEGO releases. These later sets are way beyond anything I have ever expected. They are definitely a dream-come-true for long-time LEGO fans. My expectation is that these sets will be released in the summer. While we are waiting you can check out the currently available The LEGO Movie sets at the Online LEGO Shop. You will not be disappointed. I have built most of the sets already and they are exceptional. Also, you can check out The LEGO Movie books on Amazon.

Remember when we talked about the LEGO Mixels characters back in the summer? If you don’t, you can read the original press-release here: Coming of the LEGO Mixels. In short, LEGO Mixels is a collaboration between The LEGO Group and Cartoon Network to produce a TV series, games, collectible LEGO sets and more. So let’s check them out! 🙂

LEGO Mixels Website

The LEGO Mixels characters are crazy little creatures and you can combine them to create larger characters. With the original press-release we only saw three of the cute monsters, but thanks to the recent release of the LEGO retail catalog, and the update to the Brickset database, now we can see all of the sets scheduled for release this spring.

LEGO Mixels Series One

Each of the LEGO Mixels characters come in small bags and include a great selection of elements for some fun building. So far there are three sets of LEGO Mixels, with three characters in each: the red fiery Mixels, the gray rock Mixels and the yellow electric Mixels. There should also be some green and blue Mixels coming later, and there are likely going to be further series, as this one is numbered “Series 1”. And again, there will be opportunities to combine the models, as you can see on the picture below.

Also, here is the official description of the Mixels theme, which gives us more clues about who they are, plus hints at the badguys called Nixels: “The Mixels characters are fun little creatures who live the craziest adventures in their colorful world. Each tribe has its duty: The Infernits provide for the fire, the Cragster are builders and the Electroids bring light into darkness through electricity. The little Mixels are strongest and most creative when combining – then nobody can stop them! Almost nobody – as the uncool, colorless Nixels repeatedly try to hold off creativity in the Mixels’ world. Help the Mixel tribes defeat the Nixels! Collect all three Mixels of a tribe and create the tribe’s combiner model to face the Nixels. Or even better: Build the super-combiner from all tribes and turn the Mixel creatures invincible!”

So let’s see out all of the LEGO Mixel characters, as well as their combined models. As far as what the super-combiner looks like, at this point we don’t know, but judging from all the models, it should be really fun too!
