New LEGO Christmas Winter Village Cottage

Although it is a bit early to talk about Christmas LEGO sets, I thought to let you know about the newest addition to the LEGO Winter Village Series early, as these sets tend to disappear real fast. 😉

LEGO has started the tradition of releasing one Christmas LEGO set every year for the holidays. In 2009 we got the #10199 LEGO Winter Toy Shop, in 2010 the #10216 LEGO Winter Village Bakery, and in 2011 the #10222 LEGO Winter Village Post Office. And this year we get the #10229 LEGO Winter Village Cottage – the largest of the LEGO Christmas sets. A beautiful and worthy addition to the LEGO Winter Village series!

The official description of the LEGO Winter Village Cottage: Get cozy in the Winter Village Cottage! Continuing the LEGO Winter Series, build the Winter Village Cottage for a perfect holiday home. Seat Grandpa snugly by the fireplace with his newspaper as you help Dad to put up the tree, then bake a feast in the kitchen with Mom! When it’s time to stock up the storage shed with firewood, bring the kids for a ride with Dad on the sled watch him cut the wood with his chainsaw deep in the forest. When the snow gets really deep, clear the road with the snow-plow, take all of the kids skiing or build an igloo to play in. There’s no cozier place to spend long, frosty nights!

  • Includes 8 minifigures: mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, 3 children and snowplow driver with assorted accessories
  • Features cottage, storage shed, igloo, streetlamp, sled and snowplow

  • Rare elements and colors included
  • Detach the snow-plow to store it in the back of the truck!
  • Make the fireplace glow with the LEGO light brick!

  • Fetch firewood with the sled!
  • Drive the snowplow!
  • Cottage measures 6.7” (17cm) high, 9.8” (25cm) wide and 5.5” (14cm) deep
  • Storage shed measures 4.3” (11cm) high, 2.7” (7cm) wide and 2.7” (7cm) deep
  • Igloo measures 2.7” (7cm) high, 2.7” (7cm) wide and 2.7” (7cm) deep
  • Snowplow measures 2.7” (7cm) high, 7” (18cm) long (with plow attached) and 2.3” (6cm) wide

And here is a great video LEGO designer Jamie Berard introducing the new Christmas LEGO set with all of its sweet details:

The LEGO Winter Village Cottage is currently available at the Online LEGO Shop. Please note that this is a LEGO exclusive set, meaning it is only going to be available directly from LEGO. If you are planning to get one I suggest you do it now, before it runs out. Also, if you are missing the previous Winter Village sets you are in luck because LEGO just re-added the #10216 LEGO Winter Village Bakery and the #10222 LEGO Winter Village Post Office. You can find all three sets here: BUY WINTER VILLAGE SETS

NINJAGO Lloyd ZX Spinner review

(Written by Nathan K. – ntk743)

Finally, I received Lloyd ZX’s Spinner! One of my great friends visited New York City a few weeks ago and went to one of the biggest Toys’R’Us Stores in the USA. He bought me Lloyd’s Spinner. I just got him about a week ago and I was so excited I thought to share a review with you! 😛

Within minutes Lloyd was built, the weapons were built, the spinner was set up and the cards were out. I first built Lloyd’s spinner, which of course wasn’t hard at all. I quickly realized that Lloyd’s Spinner was the most detailed Ninjago spinner ever! Most spinners just have the same pattern printed four times on the spinner itself, but Lloyd’s has four different patterns printed on the spinner, and on the spinner-crown. And of course, like all Spinjitzu spinners, this one spins great as well.

Lloyd, the famous Green Ninja, is an amazing minifigure with lots of great details. I love his Green Ninja suit with part of his neck showing at the top and the torso printed on both the front and the back. The minifigure was the whole point I got this set so of course he’s my favorite! His weapons are pretty cool as well. He comes with an original sword, a brown staff and his golden weapon. To tell you the truth, Lloyd’s golden weapon doesn’t spin well, it’s too big! 🙄

Now let’s move on to Lloyd’s Spinjitzu game-cards. The first is Lloyd’s Character Card. It is very cool, with 1200 SP, which makes Lloyd one of the highest ranked SP characters.

Unique Power Spinjitzu Game Card – Keep face-up. Discard if crown is removed. Add 100 SP to all four of your powers. Fire 300 SP, Ice 300 SP, Earth 300 SP, Lightning 300 SP. So basically this is one of the best cards, especially if you can use it with another character. However the only other characters with 1200 SP are Sensei Wu and Lord Garmadon.

Opposition Spinjitzu Game Card – If you have three face-up crown-cards, opponent loses all weapons. Fire 400 SP, Ice 400 SP, Lightning 400 SP, Earth 400 SP. This card doesn’t make much sense because Lloyd doesn’t come with three crown-cards. And if I take a crown-card from another spinner then I have five action-cards (Lloyd’s character-card doesn’t count as an action-card), which you can’t do. So maybe it’s a mistake; maybe LEGO designers only meant two face-up crown-cards. But even if it wasn’t a mistake I’m changing the rules to two face-up crown-cards anyway. 😉

Premonition Spinjitzu Game Card – Keep face-up. Discard if crown is removed. Opponent reveals all cards every time you win. This is a really cool card and helps a lot in a Spinjitzu game!

Roundhouse Kick! Spinjitsu Game Card – Set up the above. Each player spins twice. If you knock more cards down, reclaim lost weapon. Earth 200 SP. This is a great card, especially with the reclaim lost weapon part. Of course you wouldn’t play this unless you lost at least one weapon, but if you haven’t it is pretty pointless.

In summary I would say that Lloyd is an amazing character with great cards, a really nicely looking spinner and cool weapons! Before you go buy him though I would suggest you read the official description below:

LEGO Ninjago #9574 Lloyd ZX’s Spinner DescriptionSpin to victory against those slithery snakes with 4 battle cards and the LEGO Ninjago Lloyd ZX! Lloyd ZX is the legendary Green Ninja, destined to win the great battle between good and evil and bring peace once again to the land of Ninjago. But before he can fulfill his destiny, his fellow ninja must help him master the art of Spinjitzu and defeat the evil Serpentine snake-tribes! Use the 4 battle cards included to influence the outcome. Set includes Lloyd minifigure, golden spinner, green spinner-crown, LEGO bricks, golden weapon, 2 regular weapons, character-card, and 4 battle-cards.

Since Lloyd ZX’s Spinner is so popular right now it’s almost impossible to find him locally. Toys’R’Us sells the set for a bit more over regular retail price, but this is one of the few places that may still have Lloyd in stock. You can also look at Wal-Mart and Target stores, although most of them are currently out. Online you can get Lloyd ZX at the Online LEGO Shop.
