LEGO contest: win LEGO Super Heroes minifigs!

Here is a fun and exciting LEGO contest for you! LEGO recently launched the new LEGO Super Heroes Movie Maker app, and to encourage people to try it out, upload content, and give feedback, they teamed up with theBrickBlogger for a fun event! Read on for details! 😉

➡ WHAT IS THIS LEGO CONTEST ABOUT: LEGO would like you to try out and give feedback on their new LEGO Super Heroes Movie Make app. To create a fun event around the idea, they have provided us a set of special edition LEGO Super Heroes minifigures that will be sent to the winner chosen from contest-entries randomly! 😛

➡ WHAT IS THE LEGO MOVIE MAKER APP: With the LEGO Super Heroes Movie Maker app, kids and adults can create their own LEGO movies on their iPhone, iPad, or iPad Touch. This LEGO app merges digital play with physical toys. It gives both young and old LEGO-fans a new way to enjoy their LEGO sets and make them come alive. By the way; the app is free! 🙂

The process to use this LEGO app is easy: the simple tools and guides within the LEGO app make it easy to shoot, edit, and add music to a LEGO stop-motion movie. Just choose which LEGO building sets and minifigures you want to use, then get them built and set up. (Although the graphics within the app are mainly LEGO DC Superheroes, but you can use any LEGO building set or even non-LEGO toys.) Once your scene is ready, use the camera on your device to take a picture. Then move your minifigs into their next pose and take another picture. Keep moving your minifigs and snapping pictures until you have all of the scenes you want for your movie.

When you’re done shooting, add and delete movie-frames, choose from 5 different soundtracks, and add a color-filter to create different effects. Add one of the 11 customizable title cards, save the movie to your camera-roll, and you are done! You can also share your LEGO video with family and friends. Here is a short video to show you how easy is the whole process:

âž¡ HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST: (Please read rules carefully! Not understanding or following these simple rules can get you disqualified.) To enter the LEGO contest all you need to do is write a review on the LEGO Super Heroes Movie Maker app in the comment section below. You can view and download the app here: LEGO Super Heroes Movie Maker App. Your review should be meaningful, and give valuable and constructive feedback to LEGO in regards to the Movie Maker app. Your review doesn’t need to be a 500-word essay, but should be useful. Brief, clear and to the point is fine, long and thoughtful is also appreciated. Please note however that comments with nothing more than “Cool app!” or “This app is crappy!” and such will not be eligible to win the prize! (Hint: If you don’t have an Apple product you can still give valuable feedback and enter the contest.)

âž¡ HOW TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING: Your review in the comment section below will count as one entry to the contest (even if you break it up to separate comments.) However if you actually use the LEGO Movie Maker app and create a video, you will increase your chances of winning 3 times! How? Once you create a LEGO Movie Maker video, upload it to YouTube, Flickr, or other video-sharing websites, then link to it from the comment section below, noting that the video is your entry to the contest. Your LEGO Movie Maker video will give you 3 entries in the contest! The video must be new and created by you. Also, please note that your video doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. You are simply rewarded with more chances of winning because of giving the app a try.

âž¡ WHAT IS THE PRIZE: One winner will receive the prize of a pair of the highly coveted special edition LEGO Super Heroes Captain America and Ironman minifigures. Only 125 of these minifigures were ever made! These minifigures were given to some attendees of the New York Toy Fair earlier this year. (Most people would never part from such special minifigs, but the ones that do make it to the marketplace are selling for a minimum of $250-$300 each! Just check BrickLink or eBay.)

âž¡ HOW IS THE WINNER SELECTED: I will write down all eligible contestants’ names on pieces of paper (giving 3 pieces to video-entries), put them in a hat and let my neighbor’s kid (my LEGO buddy) pick one at random. In the last contest we ran there were about 100 entries, so your chance of winning is pretty high, especially if you are entering a video. 8)

âž¡ HOW TO RECEIVE PRIZE: I will announce the winner and contact him/her for a shipping address on the 1st or 2nd of July. If we do not hear back from the winner within five days, prize will be given to a runner-up. We will make every effort to pack your prize carefully, however we are not responsible for lost and damages packages by the shipping carrier.

âž¡ WHEN IS THE DEADLINE: To enter this LEGO contest you must submit your written review, or link to your video in the comment section below by June 30th, midnight, EST.

So check out the LEGO Super Heroes Movie Maker app in the Apple Store (it is free to download), read the contest rules above carefully, and start planning your written review or LEGO Movie Maker video. Good luck! 😉

There is a LEGO CUUSOO project from one of my favorite LEGO builders I would like to bring to your attention: the LEGO Architecture – Ancient World Civilizations by Matija Grguric.

The LEGO Architecture – Ancient World Civilizations series is a LEGO project Matija has been working on for a couple of months now, and it is still growing. Currently the series includes some really gorgeous LEGO sets:

âž¡ Moai – Mysterious Sculptures of the Easter Islands: iconic sculptures with a past steeped in mystery.

âž¡ Greek Temple – Dorish Style Ancient Greek Temple: dedicated to Poseidon, God of the Sea.

âž¡ Hatshepsut Temple – Ancient Egypt: part of the ancient Egyptian temple-complex, Deir el-Bahari, near Luxor. This is a particularly interesting project when you look up the history.

âž¡ Great Wall of China – Ancient China: micro-scale Great Wall of China – section Mutianyu. You can find a nice image of the real building here.

âž¡ Temple in Tibet: small Tibetan temple in the snowy mountains. Inspiration from here, here and here.

âž¡ Chitzen Itza – Kukulcan: famous Mayan pyramid in Yucatan, Mexico. You can read more about the original structure here.

âž¡ Pagoda – Japanese Culture: Inspired by Pagoda of Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto and other beautiful Pagodas all over Japan.

New additions to the LEGO Architecture – Ancient World Civilizations series you might see in the future are the Colosseum, Machu Picchu, Titus Arch, Parthenon, Petra, Stonehenge, and similar. If you have any suggestions and ideas for future projects let Matija know. He is open to your feedback! Visit Matija at his flickr gallery, or CUUSOO project page. 🙂

Matija shares that the idea behind this LEGO Architecture project is to make a series of LEGO sets, which represent different ancient civilizations and cultures, by something they left for us to admire. It could be a landmark, a style or type of architecture, a piece of art or sculpture. This is why Matija combine both landmarks and styles specific to that civilization.

All the LEGO Architecture models in this series are built on a 32×32 stud base-plate, which doesn’t make them too big, or expensive – just the right size to decorate a shelf or coffee-table. With each LEGO Architecture set a booklet (similar to those from the current LEGO Architecture series) would explain basic facts about the civilization and the structure itself.

If you like the LEGO Architecture – Ancient World Civilizations series, please vote for it on CUUSOO. Here is the link: VOTE ON CUUSOO. I believe this LEGO Architecture series has great potential to be made into actual LEGO sets. They are beautiful, interesting projects that would appeal to LEGO fans, model-builders, Architects, and those who love ancient architecture and history. What do you think? 😉
