News & Rumors on Upcoming LEGO Sets

If you’re active on LEGO forums and social media, you have probably seen some exciting news and rumors circulating about upcoming LEGO sets. Some of these sets should be officially announced soon, while others are still well in the future, so we need to take the information with a grain of salt. Discussing new sets is always exciting, so at least we can do that much while we wait for official info.

We already talked about the upcoming #75978 LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley set yesterday, but just to recap, this is a massive, 5,544-piece recreations of some of the well-known shops from Diagon Alley, including Ollivanders Wand Shop, Flourish & Blotts, Scribbulus Writing Implements, Quality Quidditch Supplies, Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor, The Daily Prophet, and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. In addition, the set also includes fourteen minifigs. This set is scheduled for September, so the press-release should be available at any day now.

Another big set that is rumored to come sometime next year is the #71741 LEGO Ninjago City Gardens with 5,685 parts and over twenty minifigs, and should tie in nicely with the previously released #70620 LEGO Ninjago City with 4,867 pieces from 2017, and the #70657 LEGO Ninjago City Docks with 3,553 pieces from 2018. Rumor has it that it has some pagoda-like buildings and towers, as well as a bridge, and gardens. It is likely based on – or at least inspired by – the screenshot above from the LEGO Ninjago Movie.

There are also rumors of a humongous #10276 LEGO Creator Expert Colosseum with over 9,000 pieces. That sound pretty incredible, as it would be the largest LEGO set ever, overtaking even the #75192 LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon with #7,541 pieces. I’m not sure if I believe this rumor, as the Colosseum doesn’t seem to be a particularly interesting subject for the average LEGO fan or even collector. We shall see…

Those of us who are waiting for the next LEGO Winter Village set, rumor has it that it’s named #10275 LEGO Elf Clubhouse, and might even have a moulded reindeer. We should be hearing about this set soon, as the holiday season is just around the corner. If you’re missing some of the previously released LEGO Creator Winter Village sets, the #10263 LEGO Winter Village Fire Station from 2018, and the #10267 LEGO Winter Village Gingerbread House from 2019 are still available at the LEGO Creator section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Also, remember that there are several LEGO Ideas projects that have been approved to become official LEGO sets, so they should be coming sometime within the next year or so. This includes the Seinfeld 30th Anniversary set, the Winnie the Pooh set, the Home Alone McCallister’s House, 123 Sesame Street, the Medieval Blacksmith, and the LEGO Typewriter, For currently available sets originally designed by LEGO fans, visit the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Another rumored set is the #10274 LEGO Creator Expert Ecto-1. You might remember that LEGO released the #21108 LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 in 2014 and the #75828 LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto 1 & 2 in 2016. Both of them were minifig-scale sets. The new set on the other hand, is rumored to be like the #10262 LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin and other large LEGO Creator Expert vehicles.

From the above list, I’m most excited about Ninjago City Gardens. Ninjago City, and Ninjago City Docks are two of my favorite sets, and Ninjago City Gardens seems to be at least as awesome, if not better. What about you? Which set are you looking forward to the most? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below!

A couple of days ago, LEGO revealed the upcoming #71028 LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 characters. As usual, each mystery bag contains one of sixteen different characters from the Harry Potter series. Details below.

The sixteen characters in Series 2 of the LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures area as follows: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Luna Lovegood, Moaning Myrtle, Griphook, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Professor Sprout, Neville Longbottom, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Bellatrix Lestrange, Lily Potter, and James Potter.

Even for non-Harry Potter fans, Harry Potter minifigs are always awesome as they include a large selection of unique and very useful facial features, clothing, hairpieces, and lots of great accessories. This series in particular is full of pieces that can be used in a wide variety of applications. LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 will be available on September 1st, for $4.99 each. They are already listed at the LEGO Harry Potter section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Another big news for LEGO Harry Potter fans is that LEGO is the upcoming #75978 LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley set, which also should be available in September. You might remember that back in 2011, LEGO released the large and highly detailed #10217 LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley set with 2,025 pieces. It featured three main buildings from Diagon Alley; Ollivander’s, Borgin and Burke’s, and Gringott’s Bank. (See the older set below.)

While the set was very impressive at its time, we are now getting something even better! The upcoming #75978 LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley set will come with 5,544 pieces, and feature the following seven locations: Ollivanders Wand Shop, Flourish & Blotts, Scribbulus Writing Implements, Quality Quidditch Supplies, Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor, The Daily Prophet, and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. In addition, the set also includes fourteen minifigs. As the set is scheduled for release in September, we should be getting an official press-release soon with images and other details. This set is expected to be epic in both size and detail!

Also, remember that there are a bunch of other LEGO Harry Potter sets coming soon to North America that have been released in other countries already, like the #75966 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Room of Requirements, the #75967 LEGO Harry Potter Forbidden Forest: Umbridge’s Encounter, the #75968 LEGO Harry Potter 4 Privet Drive, the #75969 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Astronomy Tower, the #75979 LEGO Harry Potter Hedwig buildable figure, and the #75980 LEGO Harry Potter Attack on the Burrow. They are already listed at the LEGO Harry Potter section of the Online LEGO Shop.
