LEGO City Jungle – win a trip to Costa Rica!

When we talked about the new LEGO City Jungle sets a few days ago (see: Review LEGO City Jungle, Coastguard & More!) I mentioned that for this theme LEGO partnered with National Geographic TV Kids. One aspect of this partnership is a really cool LEGO contest, where you can win a trip to Costa Rica with the National Geographic Expeditions team! Details below 🙂

LEGO CITY JUNGLE CONTEST – OVERVIEW: Imagine your adventure in the jungle and create it! What are you discovering on the trip around the jungle? A new species of plant or animal, a lost city, an ancient temple or a mysterious abandoned vehicle? Let your imagination go wild! Everything can happen in the jungle! To enter, build or draw your adventure, take a picture of your creation and upload it. The grand prize winner will – together with your family (4 persons) – head off with National Geographic Expeditions to the jungles of Costa Rica in Central America! You will explore the treetops and volcanic canyon landscapes of Rio Blanco, go zip-lining through tropical forests surrounded by astonishing wildlife, visit a wildcat rescue center to meet orphaned ocelots and jaguars, and dine in a tree house!

LEGO CITY JUNGLE CONTEST – ELIGIBILITY: The competition is only open to children between the ages of six (6) and sixteen (16) years old at the time of entry, who are residents of the US, the UK, Benelux, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Poland, Hungary, Czech, Romania or Russia, and who submit a valid entry to the competition. Furthermore, it is a requirement that the entrant have a functioning level of spoken English. All entrants must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian. You are not eligible to enter if you are an employee, officer, director or partner of National Geographic Partners, the LEGO Group, their affiliates and subsidiaries. Immediate family members of the contest entities (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they live) or persons living in the same households of such individuals, whether or not related, are also ineligible to enter or win a prize.

LEGO CITY JUNGLE CONTEST – HOW TO ENTER: The first thing you need to do is make sure you have an active LEGO ID. Then you can start building your creative jungle explorer action scene, vehicle, campsite, booby-trapped temple, or exactly what your dream jungle adventure should have! Then take pictures of your creation, and upload them to the competition gallery. You can also draw a creation based on the specified competition theme and enter that in the contest. The upload and submission to the competition must be done via the LEGO City gallery on LEGO.com/jungle and will be subject to the LEGO Group’s standard moderation mechanics, under which it can take up to 48 hours before the submission is visible in the gallery. There is no limit on the number of Entries submitted per person or household.

LEGO CITY JUNGLE CONTEST – DEADLINE: You must submit your entry by November 30, 2017 at 23:59 GMT. Any entries received after this time are not valid. You can use an online time-zone converter to make sure you don’t miss the deadline.

LEGO CITY JUNGLE CONTEST – JUDGES: The potential winners will be selected by a jury panel consisting of members from the LEGO City marketing team (situated in Denmark), selected members from the National Geographic Society (situated in the UK & USA), and a couple of independent people (situated in Denmark). Entries will be evaluated according to creativity and imagination. The odds of winning will depend on the skill and talent of the entrant, as assessed by the judges, and on the number of eligible entries received.

LEGO CITY JUNGLE CONTEST – PRIZES: One first prize winner will receive a 7-day National Geographic Costa Rica Family Expedition for two (2) children between the ages 6-17 and two (2) adults who are 18 or older. This includes round-trip economy-class air transportation between a major international gateway airport near the winner’s home to San José, Costa Rica, double occupancy standard hotel accommodations, and excursions as indicated in the itinerary on the website, and a 1-year subscription to National Geographic Kids Magazine. The second prize winner will receive the LEGO City Jungle Explorers standard assortment consisting of the following LEGO products; #60156 LEGO City Jungle Buggy, #60157 LEGO City Jungle Starter Set, #60158 LEGO City Jungle Cargo Helicopter, #60159 LEGO City Jungle Halftrack Mission, #60160 LEGO City Jungle Mobile Lab, and #60161 LEGO City Jungle Exploration Site. Both second and third prize winners will also receive a 1-year subscription to National Geographic Kids Magazine.

LEGO CITY JUNGLE CONTEST – WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT: Winners will be announced on LEGO.com/jungle on January 8th. The potential winners will be contacted via the entrant’s email address on the 8th of January 2018. Potential winners have ten calendar (10) days from the date of notification to complete and return the winners’ documents. If the potential winners cannot be contacted within (10) of days of notification, or fail to complete the required winners’ documents correctly within the deadline, a new potential winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries received within the entry period.

LEGO Spider-Man: Homecoming sets review

There are only two LEGO Super Heroes sets this summer, both from the Marvel Comics universe, and related to the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming film. We will look at both sets in detail below. 🙂

#76082 LEGO SUPER HEROES ATM HEIST BATTLE: This is a small set with a minimalist bank kiosk, and three minifigures. As you will see in the video-review below by JANGBRiCKS, the bank itself is not particularly well designed and the play-features don’t work that well either. The three minifigures however are excellent, with very detailed printing all over their bodies, and great looking masks.

Here is the official description of the set: Help Spider-Man to stop the masked robbers burglarizing the bank in this action-packed LEGO Marvel Super Heroes set. The bank opens out for easy play and features an exploding window function, a removable ATM, and an ATM with an explode function to send LEGO cash elements flying everywhere. The two robbers are equipped with a stud-shooting ATM Buster and a gun with hybrid-tech chain to drag the removable ATM away, plus a getaway bike. Attach and fire Spider-Man’s Power Blast weapons to take down the villains. Includes 3 minifigures: Spider-Man and 2 masked robbers. 185 pieces. Price: $19.99 – BUY HERE

#76083 LEGO SUPER HEROES BEWARE THE VULTURE: This set is twice as large both in piece-count and price, and is definitely more substantial and better designed. I really like the look and features of the van; sort of a combination between a van and a space shuttle. I could see having quite a bit of fun with it even outside of the Spider-Man story. The set comes with four excellent minifigures that you can see in the video-review below.

Here is the official description of the set: Team up with Spider-Man and Iron Man to catch up with The Shocker’s Van and tackle the Vulture’s attacks in this thrilling LEGO Marvel Super Heroes set. The Shocker’s Van opens up for easy play and includes a mounted, adjustable 6-stud rapid shooter, a buildable rifle and buildable tech egg, while Vulture’s wings have 2 detachable stud shooters. Includes 4 minifigures: Spider-Man, Vulture, Iron Man and The Shocker. 375 pieces. Price: $39.99 – BUY HERE

LEGO Super Heroes Spider-Man sets are pretty rare, so it’s nice to have two new sets at the same time. They are small, and don’t really offer much as far as displayability, but they do have some play-value, and LEGO went all out with the minifigures. I would say the bank is not really worth it for the set itself, but it is the cheapest way to get the new Spider-Man design. The larger set has better play-value and design, and you also get four excellent minifigs, including Spider-Man, and a unique Iron Man armor. Comparing the two sets, I would say that the second one is an overall better value, but of course you are free to pick your favorite. Both sets are available at the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like these two new LEGO Spider-Man: Homecoming sets? Are you looking forward to the movie? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉
