LEGO brick storage drawers & more!

We have talked about Room Copenhagen’s awesome storage bricks and other LEGO storage and display solutions before (see links at the end of this post), and today I wanted to show you a couple of new product ranges that I’m pretty excited about. In case you are not aware, Room Copenhagen is a Danish company, and they make most of the storage items and minifig displays officially licensed by LEGO. Their quality is top notch, their colors match LEGO color-palette perfectly, and they work closely with LEGO to provide products that match LEGO’s aesthetics and various themes. 🙂

Just like they have done for The LEGO Batman Movie, Room Copenhagen is releasing a range of storage and display solutions for The LEGO Ninjago Movie. The product line includes a couple of different style minifigure display cases, a 2×4 storage brick, sorting and storage boxes, two different lunch boxes, and water bottles. All of them come with a really nice sand-green and dark-bluish-gray or translucent black color-scheme, and most of them have beautiful printing as well with scenes related to the movie. They are not available yet, but should be listed both on Amazon and at the Online LEGO Shop either on August 1st, when The LEGO Ninjago Movie sets are officially released, or by September 22nd, when The LEGO Ninjago Movie will begin to play in theaters.

The second product line by Room Copenhagen I wanted to show you is a new version of their storage bricks. They have been making storage bricks that look like giant LEGO pieces for several years now. The storage bricks come in 1×1, 1×2, 2×2 and 2×4 configurations, and there is also a 1×1 round brick. They are not the most practical as a regular LEGO storage solution for a large collection as they are pretty expensive, and the studs and stud-holes take up quite a bit of space, but they are nevertheless awesome looking, very high quality, and a great addition to any LEGO room. Every LEGO fan should have some just for fun. If you have enough, you can even build a giant LEGO fort or other structure out of the bricks, so you can pretend to be a minifig. 😀

One other reason the original storage bricks are not the most practical for storing a large collection of LEGO pieces is that they had a lift-off lid. In other words, if you stacked several, and you needed some pieces from the bottom storage bricks, you had to take apart the entire stack. So, while the storage bricks stack like regular LEGO bricks, this made them less usable for actual storage.

To solve this problem, Room Copenhagen came out with a new version of the storage bricks, this time with drawers! The new storage bricks still look like regular LEGO bricks, they are still stackable, and completely compatible with the original storage bricks, but because they open with a well-hidden drawer, they can now be left stacked to access the inside compartments. This is a brilliant solution, and I’m surprised that they didn’t come up with it before.

While I expect the new version of the storage bricks to be the same price as the original version ($20 for the 2×2 brick and $40 for the 2×4 brick), the fact that they have drawers on the side will make these products a lot more interesting to adult LEGO fans. The storage space inside the bricks is still not the most optimized because of the studs, I wouldn’t be surprised if more people will get these for regular storage, just because they look so good, and now they are now actually practical (if you have the money and space). The size of the storage bricks is the same as the original version; the 2×2 brick is 250 x 250 x 180 mm / 9.8 x 9.8 x 7.1 in, and the 2×4 brick is 500 x 250 x 180 mm / 19.7 x 9.8 x 7.1 in. And the bricks are available in ten colors.

The new version of the storage bricks is not yet available in the US, but I have seen them listed at some stores in the UK, so they should be listed soon in other regions as well. If you are interested, I would keep checking Amazon and at the Online LEGO Shop, as they are the two most reliable providers of Room Copenhagen products. In the meantime, you can also check the current selection here: ROOM COPENHAGEN STORAGE BRICKS AT AMAZON

What do you think? Are you interested in any of these new storage and display solutions? Do you own any LEGO-branded storage products? Or, what else do you use for storing your LEGO? Feel free to share your thoughts and own review in the comment section below! 😉
