This is a great opportunity to see a unique and fun event, and to meet – and to see in action – some of the best LEGO builders in the country! Here are the details:

THE LEGO BRICK FACTOR COMPETITION: IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME

It’s Atlanta’s Most Unusual Job Interview – Building a Career out of LEGO Bricks at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta

WHAT: Auditions for the position of Master Model Builder at the new LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta. More than 100 applicants from all over the Southeast will convene this weekend for two days of serious competition for their chance to land the dream job – Master Model Builder!  For more information on the contest, visit LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta.

Faced with millions of LEGO bricks when they arrive, job seekers will be required to show how skilled they are at building LEGO models by undergoing a series of creative LEGO challenges. A special panel of judges, which includes adults and children, will evaluate each candidate’s performance. At the end of the first day of auditions, successful builders will be chosen to move on to the final stage of the competition, which will be held at Phipps Plaza on Sunday. At the conclusion of the final audition, one candidate will be named the winner of the competition and will move to the final stage of the interview process before assuming the full-time job and official title of Master Model Builder for the indoor attraction.

ABOUT LEGOLAND DISCOVERY CENTER: The $15 million, 30,000 square-foot indoor attraction is slated to open in April 2012 at Phipps Plaza. It will be the third LEGOLAND Discovery Center venue to open in the U.S. and the sixth in the world.  It will offer a fun, highly interactive and educational two-to-three hour indoor experience which is ideal for families with children. Based on the ever-popular LEGO brick, LEGOLAND Discovery Center will provide a range of interactive features including hands-on play areas; a 4D cinema; master classes from the LEGO Master Model Builder; LEGO rides; special party rooms for birthdays and other celebrations; and the venue’s signature MINILAND exhibit which is a recreation of landmarks in North Texas out of LEGO bricks.

I went in on Saturday, made round 1, but didn’t make it past round 2 to the finals. It’s ok, my focus fell apart in the second round. However, my friend Josh won the competition!! I’m happy for him, I’ve known him for 4 years, and he’s always been great with kids when it comes to LEGO stuff! Merlin Entertainment made a great choice in selecting him!

Scott, thanks for sharing the news! You are a winner just by making it this far in the competition! So congratulations! Also, congratulations to your friend, Josh! 😀
