LEGO Encanto The Madrigal House Alternate Versions

The #43202 LEGO Disney Encanto The Madrigal House continues to inspire LEGO fans with its vibrant colors and lovely colonial style. Encanto is a computer-animated musical coming-of-age fantasy comedy film by Walt Disney Studios. It is set in a fantasy version of Colombia and tells the story of Mirabel Madrigal, a young Colombian girl who has to face the frustration of being the only member of her family without magical powers.

The #43202 LEGO Disney Encanto The Madrigal House is only $50 and comes with 587 pieces, but it gives a perfect template for larger builds. We already discussed one such project in LEGO Encanto The Madrigal House Larger Version, and today I would like to show you a few more.

LEGO fan Bart Marable (bartsbrickworks on Instagram) built a larger version of the house, which was awarded Fan Favorite (voted on by the public and AFOLs) at Brick Rodeo in Austin, Texas this year. Bart shares the following on his Instagram about the project.

“There are lots of firsts for me with this one. It’s by far the largest MOC I’ve made since I rediscovered my love for LEGO a couple of years ago. It’s my first MOC with custom lighting. And I created my first custom minifigs for it. Before building Casa Madrigal in real life, I first built a digital version in the BrickLink Stud.io digital designer program. This method lets me experiment with different approaches and colors until I was happy with the design.”

“While my first versions used sand-green, I finally settled on a combination of neon-green and olive-green. The neon-green was a bit brighter than I would have ideally liked, but I found that it offered the best options in terms of available parts. Whenever I make the leap from digital to the real version, I almost always tweak the design. In this case, I included much more detail in the terracotta roof, and I also added the ivy on the front and side of the tower.”

“While Casa Madrigal looks like a single large building, the model is actually composed of several modular sections. This approach was necessary in order to transport the build, and it also makes it easier to store the model when it’s not being displayed. The house’s overall design (from the movie Encanto) lent itself to being split into seven sections that could be built separately and then joined together on the base. The base itself was also divided into three sections. To make it easier to connect the lighting, all of the major electrical wirings is housed in the middle section of the base.”

The #43202 LEGO Disney Encanto The Madrigal House has so much potential for customization! Whether you want to recreate scenes from the film, or you just want to experiment with the unique architectural style, the set gives you a lot of pieces and colors to work with.

If you need a little help with enhancing and/or enlarging the set, there are also a couple of projects with downloadable instructions at Rebrickable.com. The first project by LEGO fan frozenkuku uses two of the official sets to make a larger layout. Downloadable PDF instructions are available at Rebrickable.

The second project by LegoArtisan also uses two copies of the official set. The structure is only loosely based on the movie, but it utilizes the colors, pieces, and architectural style from the set, and the final model is compatible with the LEGO Modular Buildings. Downloadable PDF instructions are available at Rebrickable.

The third project is by Check_out_my_bricks and is also compatible with the LEGO Modular Buildings. This model is built using one set and some extra parts that you can get from your own collection or purchase at BrickLink.com. Downloadable PDF instructions are available at Rebrickable.

If you are inspired to work with the set yourself, you can find it at the LEGO Disney section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do think? How do you like the custom version of the Madrigal House? Do you have the set already? Are you planning to expand it? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below!

I have been thinking about turning this set into a modular. I love the colors!

The first one looks amazing. And I like the second one too. I suppose I should get another set. Haha.

Like others said, the first one is beautiful. And I like the backdrop they used. They even matched the palm trees.

I love all the new Lego colors. So different then what I remember growing up. This, and some of the new Friends sets are amazing. And surprisingly, Dots!

Yeah. Colors are sweet. (I’d like to see a return of Medium Green, though, and Bright Reddish Orange / Duplo Salmon, as well as a better Asian skintone.)

When it comes to Lego, color matching could be a problem, though, depending on how sensitive you are…

The vegetation of the first one is awesome. I love those tall palm trees!
