Vibrant Little LEGO Carousel Ride

We discussed a list of new sets that were released this month, but there is one that we haven’t talked about yet. The #40714 LEGO Carousel Ride. This small is only $24.95 and comes with 232 pieces and three minifigures, but it includes quite a few nice details and functions. Let’s take a look.

The carousel is built on a 16×16-stud baseplate and the rotating function is achieved by a couple of large gears underneath the platform. The four carousel carts consist of a swan, a whale, a boat, and a fire truck. A colorful canopy tops the carousel with a fancily decorated golden wheel, flag, and other decorative elements.

Additional features include a ticket booth, a lamp post with a little blue bird on top, a trash can with a banana peel, and a couple of decorated fence sections. The intricate designs you see on the 2×4 plates are stickers, but there are also some printed elements like coins and the ticket. The overall measurements are 5 in. (13 cm) high, 5.5 in. (14 cm) wide, and 5 in. (13 cm) deep. It’s amazing how much can be included in such a small footprint!

This little set replicates at least the basic functions of the larger LEGO carousel models and would be the perfect addition to a smaller city diorama. You could place it in a park, marketplace, fairground, or wherever your minifigs like to have fun. If you would like to check it out, it’s available at the miscellaneous items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like this small carousel set? Are there any other currently available smaller sets that you like? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below!

Cute. Reminds me of the carousel in the winter village market.

The canopy could be a little bigger. Other than that, I like it. I think it would work well on a kids’ playground tucked in between the modulars.

I love the shirt with the panda print! Is this exclusive to this set?

It’s not exclusive, but it’s still a rare torso. It only appears in one other set, the 60380 City Downtown.

        I guess it’s a raccoon, though…

I really like! I might even buy two, one for my small amusement park and one for my city,
I also appreciate the price point.
