A new LEGOLAND Discovery Center opening in Philadelphia, PA in the spring of 2017, and they are looking for LEGO fans to apply for the position of Master Model Builder. If you are interested, or you know someone who would, description and details are below. 🙂

LEGO Career at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta

Have you always dreamed of playing with LEGO bricks for a living? Then you won’t want to miss this amazing opportunity! LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia is seeking LEGO fans to apply for the coveted role of Master Model Builder, a full-time salaried position at the attraction. Applicants will compete in an exciting two-day Brick Factor competition, set for Saturday and Sunday, December 10-11at Plymouth Meeting Mall just outside of Philadelphia, PA.

The Master Model Builder is a hands-on role that is responsible for maintaining and updating MINILAND models and developing new features, exhibitions and models at LEGOLAND Discovery Center, as well as interacting with the thousands of children expected to visit the attraction. The winner of Brick Factor will be offered a full-time job at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia as Master Model Builder. Here is some more information about the position: Being a Master Model Builder is a very exciting role where you will be designing, building, removing, installing, and repairing all models at the attraction, including MINILAND models ranging from minifigures to houses, and show and event style models of all sizes. This role is critical in supporting the day-to-day operations of the attraction, including liaising with customers and children across this busy attraction. The Master Model Builder must also have a flair for the use of color and ability to copy LEGO models from 3D prototypes, 2D drawings, and computer files.

Responsibilities of the Master Model Builder include: Following design briefs to meet the time, budget and directions given to build LEGO models for displays and marketing promotions. Maintenance and installation of all LEGO features; recognizing when models need repair, replacing or redesign. Managing the workshop to ensure areas are kept clean and neat while maintaining accurate LEGO inventory for all in-house elements. Act as a spokesperson for LEGOLAND Discovery Center to media outlets. Keeping informed and up-to-date on building techniques and technical methods. Maintaining contact with the LEGO Group. Enthusiastic approach to guest service, and proactive approach to interaction with adults and children in the attraction. Responsibility to ensure compliance of health, safety & security within the workplace.

Requirement for the position include: Passion for the LEGO brand and ability to share this enthusiasm with guests by teaching and engaging with adults and children throughout the attraction. Strong artistic vision and design skills. Requires experience in model making or craft field. Background in some form of model making preferred. Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multitask as necessary to meet a deadline. Great organization skills, detail oriented, and self-starter. Must be able to read drawings and sketches pertaining to model production. Ability to make quick and proper decisions. Must be willing to travel locally and regionally to conduct business, and occasional travel within the U.S. Possess strong communication skills (both verbal and written). Desire to work in fast-paced environments. Must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays and special events. High school or GED required.

LEGO Minecraft & The Batman Movie contests

LEGO’s ReBrick website has been running some amazing contests for teen and adult LEGO fans this year, and they just won’t stop coming out with more and more interesting challenges. EXPAND THE LEGO MINECRAFT UNIVERSE CONTEST: This contest gives a chance to LEGO Minecraft fans to add their own unique module to the LEGO Minecraft Universe. Your entry can be no larger than 18 studs wide, 18 studs long, and 10 system bricks high, forming a base of 14.4 cm (5.6 inches) and about 9.5 – 10 cm (3.9 inches) high. You can build your entry either with physical bricks or in LEGO Digital Designer. If you are the lucky grand prize winner, your model will be added into the LEGO Minecraft Universe Map, after consulting with a LEGO designer who might alter your model some to fit with LEGO quality standards before adding it to the map. You will also receive the #21127 LEGO Minecraft The Fortress set signed by the designer. Two runner-up winners will receive the same #21127 LEGO Minecraft The Fortress set signed by the designer. LEGO BATMAN MOVIE BRICKFILMS CONTEST: The villains are on the loose in Gotham (again)! Create a brickfilm that shows a legendary villain from LEGO Batman’s rogues gallery or your own original villain causing chaos. Your brickfilm can be minimum 15 seconds and maximum 30 seconds. Three winners will get the ultimate bragging right, as their brickfilm will be included in a special extra feature on the LEGO Batman Movie DVD, plus they will also receive the full assortment of the first wave of The LEGO Batman Movie sets (13 sets in total), an exclusive plate with a Batman minifigure and Will Arnett autograph, an exclusive plate with The Joker minifigure and Zach Galifianakis autograph, and The LEGO Batman Movie Blu-Ray.
