LEGO Arcade Robot Breakdance Battle!

LEGO Rad Robots 1980! and LEGO Arcade Machines 1980! are two projects on LEGO Ideas by LEGO fan BreaksBricks. The projects themselves are great, but what I really like is video featuring them both. It is one of the smoothest LEGO stop-motion video I have seen. You can watch the video below, and there is also a bit more info about the LEGO Ideas projects. 🙂

BreakBricks shares on their YouTube channel: “When I was a kid in the 1980’s I became obsessed with arcade games like Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Q-bert. This LEGO brickfilm is inspired by my love of the music, toys and video games from that era.” The two robots are based on the Tomy Omnibot and Omnibot Jr. – remote control programmable toys from the 1980’s. Both were considered very advanced when they were first released.

Great stop-motion video, isn’t it? And really good use of those printed 1×1 round eye pieces to give the robots expressions. Both the robots and the arcade machines are listed on LEGO Ideas. The LEGO Arcade Machines 1980! project includes an arcade machine with joystick control, an arcade machine with wheel control, an arcade machine with two stools for seated playing, a classic change machine with dollar slot and coin-tray, and a classic gumball machine filled with 1×1 round plate gumballs. Unfortunately this project already expired so it’s not possible to vote for it, however you can use the pictures as inspiration to make your own arcade machines.

The LEGO Rad Robots 1980! project by BreaksBricks includes two robots with posable arms and body rotation, and a couple of printed tiles for the front control panels. This project still has some time left, so if you like it, you can still vote (just click on the link above). If LEGO Ideas projects reach a minimum of 10,000 votes, LEGO will consider producing them as official LEGO sets. ➡ LEGO GHOSTBUSTERS ECTO-1 & ECTO-2: Just on time for the new Ghostbusters film scheduled for release on July 15, the #75828 LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & Ecto-2 is now available. People are quite skeptical about the film, but the LEGO set is definitely worth getting, as it comes with a very sweet looking vehicle and greatly detailed minifigures. You can find it under the LEGO Ghostbusters section of the Online LEGO Shop.

While this is all as far as new LEGO sets, remember that last month a very large number of new sets were released, including exclusives like the #42056 LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and the #21128 LEGO Minecraft The Village. Plus there are all the new LEGO City, LEGO Creator, LEGO Juniors, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Bionicle and LEGO Mixels summer sets we have discussed previously (see links at the end of this post). If you are interested in getting the free LEGO Castle Classic Knight set, make sure you place your order before July 10th. Also, as I always mention, it is a good idea to take a look at the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop before you check out. You can often find some great deals there on interesting older sets that are being retired.
