2015 LEGO DC super heroes & villains

LEGO DC Super Heroes sets have been always a bit on the weak side. By this I mean that they have been usually centered around Batman. There are a couple of sets with Superman, Wonder Woman and a few other characters, but a lot of DC Super Heroes have been completely ignored. This is about to change in 2015 when we will get a whole range of new LEGO DC Super Heroes for the first time! 🙂

LEGO DC Super Heroes & Villains 2015

There are five new LEGO DC Super Heroes sets scheduled for next year that we know about. None of them are particularly large, or that interesting as far as the sets themselves. The focus seems to be providing more unique minifigures for collectors; like the first-ever LEGO Supergirl, Hawkman, Cyborg, Brainiac, Sinestro, Black Manta, Captain Cold, Darkseid and Gorilla Grodd. And that is very exciting! And based the image above by LEGO comics artist Paul Lee, you can see that there is room for even more!

LEGO DC Super Heroes

#76025 LEGO GREEN LANTERN VS. SINESTRO: This is the only set so far that has been officially announced by LEGO and we have pictures for. It includes the highly coveted LEGO Green Lantern minifig that previously only appeared as a very limited exclusive (with a slightly different printing), Batman in space-suit and Sinestro. Green Lantern’s Jet is actually pretty sweet and I think this set is going to be popular.

#76026 LEGO GORILLA GRODD GOES BANANAS:This is a medium-ish set and includes an awesome-looking Batman Mech Suit, plus Wonder Woman’s Invisible Jet! Besides Batman and Wonder Woman, there is also Captain Cold, the Flash, and a Gorilla Grodd large figure.

#76027 LEGO BLACK MANTA DEEP SEA STRIKE: Here we have a Batman Submarine, a Black Manta Submarine and four minifigs; Black Manta, Aquaman, Batman, and Robin (in diving gear).

#76028 LEGO SUPER HEROES DARKSEID INVASION: Another medium- ish set that includes Green Arrow, Hawkman, Cyborg, Superman and a Darkseid large figure. This set is going to be popular with collectors for the minifigs; Green Arrow previously only appeared as a very limited exclusive, and the other minifigs are brand new!

#76040 LEGO SUPER HEROES BRAINIAC ATTACK: This is a smaller set and it includes four minifigures; Brainiac, Martian Manhunter, Supergirl, and Superman.

LEGO DC Super Heroes Villains

Preliminary images of all of these LEGO DC Super Heroes sets have leaked already and we should be seeing official pictures soon. In the meantime you can check out the current selection of LEGO DC Super Heroes sets at the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO turtles – contest winners & poster!

You might remember the LEGO building contest over at Eurobricks titled Turtle Insanity! Turtle Building Contest that we talked about a few months ago (see: LEGO Exo Suit – All About the Turtle). The contest was inspired by the turtle in the #21109 LEGO Ideas Exo Suit set, and the winners were just announced a few days ago. I highly recommend that you check out all the entries as they are very creative and lots of fun! 🙂

LEGO Turtle Contest at EuroBricks

For the contest all you had to do was build a LEGO turtle based on any non-licensed LEGO theme. The judges for this contest were no other than Peter Reid – the original creator of the LEGO Exo Suit, Mark Stafford – the LEGO Designer who created the final model, and Karen Frost Sørensen – Project Manager of LEGO Ideas. So yeah, the bar was set high! Winners of the contest received a signed copy of the LEGO Exo Suit set, and some of the models were also included on a poster produced by LEGO to commemorate the event. Check it out below!

LEGO Turtle Contest

Cute, isn’t it? Copies are sent to all contest participants whose turtle appears on the poster, and it will also be handed out at the Fan Weekend in Skærbæk, Denmark to registered visitors. This is one of those very rare and exclusive LEGO posters that collectors would love to have! I would keep an eye out for them on eBay: LEGO POSTERS ON EBAY

I really like the first-place winner of the contest; a turtle in the form of the original and iconic wooden LEGO toys! Such a brilliant and well-executed idea! And I was sure that the second place winner with the turtle skeleton will be one of the finalists! It is so sad, yet so fun! What about you? Did you participate in the contest? How do you like the entries and the winners? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉
