The first pictures of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 8 are now available, thanks to the French LEGO blog HothBricks (thanks, Nick, for the link!). All right, so let’s see what we got here! 🙂

First of all there is the package to identify the Collectible Minifigures Series 8 ; this time it is black, which means that the retail-box for a set of 60 minifigures is going to be black too (no picture of the full box yet). You can see a partial view of eight of the minifigs.

And now let’s check out the group-shot of all 16 minifigures in the series. (You can click on the picture for a larger view.)

Below is the list of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 8, starting with the front row, and going from left to right:

  1. Cowgirl – nice hair & hat combo!
  2. DJ – love the headphones!
  3. Vampire Bat – black version of the LEGO Monster Fighters bat.
  4. Deep-Sea Diver – great big helmet!
  5. Pirate Captain – usual hook-handed, peg-legged bad-guy.
  6. Female Skier – don’t we already have enough of these? 🙁
  7. Santa – cute new hat and bag!
  8. Hamlet – to be, or not to be? – this minifig is definitely a “to be”.
  9. Business-Man/Banker – okay, I guess… nothing special.
  10. American Football Player – same helmet as the hockey-player.
  11. Cheer-Leader – finally, someone to cheer the other guys!
  12. Alien Queen – yes, she has lipstick on! 🙄
  13. Conquistador – one of the nicest minifigs in this series!
  14. Evil Robot – evil version of the robot from Series 1.
  15. Bavarian Guy – love that pretzel!
  16. Fairy – sweet, andthose wings are going to be very useful!

Here is another view of the LEGO Collectible Minifigs Series 8. (You can also enlarge this picture by clicking on it.)

Although the LEGO Minifigures Series 8 suppose to come out in September, a BrickLink member from Sweden was able to snatch up the whole series in a local store that put them up for sale early (probably by accident). Here is a picture of the whole collection:

In general I would say I like this minifigure series. It is not as dazzling as some of the previous series, however it does provide some nice minifigs that would be useful in quite a few settings.

I’m planning to get the DJ (my favorite!), the Bavarian, the Conquistador, Santa, the Fairy, the Cowgirl, Hamlet and three Cheer-Leaders. One thing I find disappointing is that on the first picture the Conquistador appears to have striped sleeves –  which would have been a nice detail – however on the picture of the actual minifig, he has plain sleeves. 😐

What do you think? How do you like Series 8 of the Collectible Minifigs? Which ones are your favorites? Share your thoughts below! 😉

LEGO CUUSOO Hayabusa now available!

The second-ever LEGO CUUSOO set, originally developed in Japan is now available at the Online LEGO Shop! It is really hard to find it on LEGO’s website, so here is the direct link: #21101 LEGO Hayabusa

And here is the official description of the LEGO Hayabusa: Build and display the first unmanned asteroid explorer! Recreate Hayabusa, a modern marvel, selected by LEGO CUUSOO members of Japan!

Create a detailed display version of the technology that changed scientific history! In a 2003 mission, this Japanese spacecraft went deep into space to successfully collect asteroid samples and return them safely to Earth – without a single person on board! Selected by more than 1,000 LEGO CUUSOO members from Japan as the most-demanded model, this build features cool solar panels, moving equipment, a satellite-dish and gold elements. Includes a display stand with name labels, minifigure and detailed history booklet.

  • Features minifigure, baseplate with display stand and name label
  • Details include rare solar panel design, satellite dish and gold elements
  • Recreate the first unmanned asteroid explorer!
  • Build the model that more than 1,000 LEGO CUUSOO members requested!

The LEGO CUUSOO Hayabusa has been requested by many LEGO-fans outside of Japan, but previously you were only able to get it for crazy prices on eBay. Now it is available at the LEGO Shop for only $49.99, so get it while you can. I’m also thinking this will be a great set to keep for re-sale as it is extremely rare and likely not many copies are made.

What do you think of the LEGO Hayabusa? Are you planning to get it? And how about its investment value? Are you planning to stash away a few for future return? Share your thoughts in the comment section below! 😉
