If you have been a regular reader here you have probably seen those awesome and funny LEGO videos by the BrotherhoodWorkshop (see links at the end of this post). Due to popular demand the brothers have also shared a tutorial on some of the basics about making LEGO stop-motion videos, also called brickfilms (see LEGO Brickfilms Behind-the-Scenes Tips & Tricks). Today I would like to share with you another LEGO video tutorial the brothers put together, this time focusing on one of the most challenging aspect of brickfilming; how to make things fly. 🙂
But before we look at the LEGO video tutorial let’s see the BrotherhoodWorkshop’s latest brickfilm, where the flying trick is used quite a bit. Then, in the tutorial-video you can see how it is done. So enjoy “LEGO Harry Potter Meets a Rancor” by the BrotherhoodWorkshop! Hagrid has always been obsessed with strange and dangerous creatures, but his newest pet may prove to be more than he bargained for! 😈
Funny, isn’t it? Now let’s check out the tutorial on how to make things fly in LEGO stop-motion videos. There are some very clever techniques shared here worth learning from. And even if you are not a brickfilmer it is interesting to see how things are done.
So what do you think? How did you like the LEGO Harry Potter and LEGO Star Wars mix in the first video, and what about the tutorial? Did you learn something interesting? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below! And if you have any questions for the brothers on how things are done in their brickfilms, you are welcome to ask. 😉

wow! that was pretty cool! and first comment is also cool! I like these brotherhood workshop films! I wish he could make more of the LOTR films!
Yeah, more LOTR would be great, ninja of stealth. I usually use fishing line when making a minifig fly in a brickfilm. Hey, it works. 😉
Oh yeah, in the photo above, did you notice that on the Harry Potter chest, the Rancor is facing off Sauron. Or it looks that way.
Ah, I always wanted to know how to make things fly…Now, If only I can figure out how to mask…
Yeah, I thought the flying technique was really clever. 😀
