2013 LEGO theme mystery – what is this?

Although 2013 is still a bit away, LEGO fans already wonder what the New Year will bring. We talked about the 2013 LEGO Star Wars sets in  a previous post (see here: LEGO Star Wars News & Rumors of 2013 Sets), and today I would like to share with you an image sent in by our blogger friend Inger from TheBrickLife.com. She said she just received her latest LEGO Club Magazine with the following image. 🙂

Curious, huh? So what could it be? Recently LEGO trademarked two new names: “Speedorz” and “The Legend of Chima”. Speedorz appears to be some kind of a car-racing theme, judging by the name. Perhaps like LEGO Racers.

As far as The Legend of Chima, we can only speculate. Some LEGO fans say it may be another ninja/samurai type theme, perhaps the one that supposed to replace Ninjago. Other say it may be related to the legends of a Native American tribe in Trinidad, called the Chima, Chaima, or Chayma. According to legend, the Chima Indians were swallowed up by a lake as a punishment from the gods for disrespecting their ancestors. This could make a cool LEGO theme and story-line, don’t you think? 🙄

There is also an indication of another 2013 LEGO theme called LEGO Polar X-Plorer or Polar X-Press, featuring a research theme in a snowy/icy setting as reported on the EuroBricks Forum. From the icy look of the image above, it could likely be referring to this theme. Perhaps explorers and scientists are looking for some rare crystals while being attacked by wild polar beast?

What do you think? And which 2013 LEGO theme are you looking forward to? And what do you think The Legend of Chima is about? Share your thoughts in the comment section below! 😉

LEGO Lord of the Rings – the Orcs Story

We always hear the Lord of the Rings saga from the side of the “good-guys”, but what about looking at it from the perspective of some of the lowliest characters; the Orcs. Here is a short LEGO stop-motion video telling the Orcs’ side of the story, created by the BrotherhoodWorkshop. This is one of the best LEGO stop-motion videos I have ever seen. Check it out! 🙂

See? You haven’t thought of the Orcs this way before, did you? The main LEGO Lord of the Rings set featured in this video is the #9476 LEGO Lord of the Rings Orc Forge. It also contains elements from #9474 LEGO Lord of the Rings Helm’s Deep, #9470 LEGO Lord of the Rings Shelob Attacks, and #9471 LEGO Lord of the Rings Uruk-Hai Army. There are also some random elements from the Collectible LEGO minifigure series, such as the laptop and coffee-cup. 😛

So what do you think? Are the Orcs really bad, or are they just misunderstood? And how did you like the video? Share your thoughts and comments below! 😉
