2012 LEGO sets: LEGO Star Wars pictures!

Are you impatiently and curiously waiting to see what 2012 will bring in the world of LEGO? In this series of posts I give you a glimpse of some of the upcoming 2012 LEGO sets.

You might first want to check out 2012 LEGO Sets – See What’s Coming! That post will give you an overall picture of the 2012 LEGO sets. From there you can link to the particular themes you are interested in.

In this post I will list all of the 2012 LEGO STAR WARS sets revealed so far. Some of the 2012 LEGO STAR WARS sets are re-releases of iconic sets that have been available in previous years. If you didn’t have a chance to pick them up then, here is your chance.  You may also want to check out the current LEGO STAR WARS selection here: LEGO STAR WARS

I have found that re-releases often have improved, more realistic designs due to the expansion of LEGO elements and the possibilities with them. Also, the STAR WARS minifigs coming out recently have been truly awesome and it seems the trend will continue in 2012! Most minifigs now have both front and back printing, as well as dual-sided heads with different expressions.

So let’s look at what 2012 will bring to LEGO STAR WARS fans! To get an idea on pricing you may go to Barnes & Noble Pre-Order Sale. Also, you can click on any of the pictures for a larger view.

#9488 LEGO STAR WARS Elite Clone Trooper & Commander Droid Battle Pack – one nice change LEGO is introducing in 2012 is that each STAR WARS battle pack will include both good-guys and bad-guys. So you can build at least a small battle-scene with just buying one battle pack.

#9489 LEGO STAR WARS Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack – I’m particularly happy about the rebel troopers as they have been only available in one expensive set, the #8038 LEGO STAR WARS Battle of Endor.

#9490 LEGO STAR WARS Droid Escape – small set with an iconic scene! Note the new torso print on C-3PO!

#9491 LEGO STAR WARS Geonosian Cannon – more wingy Geonosians are always welcome!

#9492 LEGO STAR WARS TIE Fighter – a highly anticipated re-design of the earlier #7263 LEGO STAR WARS TIE Fighter. It does not disappoint!

#9493 LEGO STAR WARS X-wing Starfighter – the 5th reincarnation (if my memory serves me right) of this perennial favorite.

#9494 LEGO STAR WARS Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor – I really like this one! Nice minifigs too!

#9495 LEGO STAR WARS Gold Leader’s Y-wing Starfighter – the 5th reincarnation of this sweet fighter!

And if this is not awesome enough for you, please not that there are in fact more sets scheduled for 2012. There are the LEGO STAR WARS Planets sets (see here: LEGO STAR WARS Planets), and also Queen Amidala has been scheduled to appear next year in a set not yet revealed. 😉

So what do you think so far of the upcoming 2012 LEGO STAR WARS sets? Share your thoughts in the comment section below! Also, if you are aware of any new images please share the link! 🙂

Participate in Creations for Charity 2011!

Make children happy during the Christmas holidays and get awesome LEGO creations at the same time!

Creations for Charity, founded by Nannan Zhang three years ago, is a fundraising event where LEGO builders from all over the world donate their LEGO creations to sell, and raise money to buy LEGO for underprivileged children for the Christmas holidays. 100% of the funds raised go towards buying the LEGO sets.

In its first year in 2009, Creations for Charity sold 43 creations and raised $2,010. They purchased and donated almost $3,000 worth of LEGO sets to Toys-for-Tots. In 2010 they sold 120 creations and raised $9,035 from sales and monetary donations and donated over $14,000 worth of LEGO sets along with a check for $723 to Toys-for-Tots. This year Creations for Charity is hoping to set a new record! 😀

To expand the scope of the event this year Creations for Charity put in place a team of coordinators who will distribute the LEGO sets in four US cities: Grand Rapids, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Los Angeles.

Would you like to participate? Here are ways you can help!

  • You can visit the Creation for Charity store, and buy a custom LEGO creation donated by a LEGO fan. Please check the store frequently as new LEGO creations are added constantly. The store will be open until the 30th of November.
  • You can donate your own LEGO creation for this fundraiser.  To donate a LEGO creation, simply fill out a donation form. If this is your first time participating, you can learn more about Creations for Charity or read the FAQ section. There are more buyers than you may think and hot items sell really fast for a lot of money, so please consider donating something! The deadline for donations is the 15th of November.

Donors who have contributed at least $60 to the fundraiser by donating a LEGO creation will receive a nice custom LEGO keychain as a token of appreciation. (The keychains are also available for sale in the store.) Each key-chain is professionally engraved by Tommy Armstrong and expertly glued by Sean Kenney. Each also features a chrome brick from Chrome Block City. For more info visit the Creations for Charity website! 🙂
