New LEGO Ninjago cards & other news!

(Written by Geneva)

There has been lots of LEGO news popping up during the past few weeks: new LEGO Star Wars, and LEGO Hobbit sets, 2013 Super Heroes minifigures, Series 8 Minifigures, etc. Ninjago hasn’t been completely left out either; however it has been mostly random bits and pieces of information floating around - not enough to write a full post about. But I thought to at least write a brief recap of the Ninjago news surfacing these days. :)

LEGO Ninjago 2012. Beware the Snakes!

For one thing, we now know several of the new Spinjitzu cards included in the September spinners (for more information check out the following posts:  LEGO Ninjago September Spinners, and LEGO Ninjago Lloyd ZX Spinner Preview). Following are several of the new cards:

 LEGO NINJAGO – #1 Lloyd ZX Character Card: included in Lloyd’s spinner-set.  1200 SP – 300 of each element.  (Previously posted in LEGO Ninjago Lloyd ZX Spinner Preview.)

 LEGO NINJAGO – #117 Premonition Crown Card:  included with Lloyd’s spinner-set. 300 SP of each element. Keep face-up; discard if Crown is removed. Opponent must reveal all cards every time you win. (Also previously posted in LEGO Ninjago Lloyd ZX Spinner Preview.)

 LEGO NINJAGO – #18 Bytar Character Card:  included in Bytar’s booster pack. Comes with 1100 SP. (See picture below.)

 LEGO NINJAGO – #70 Crown of Earth Battle Card:  included in Bytar’s booster-pack. 400 Earth SP. Build/remove Crown on any spinner.

 LEGO NINJAGO – #44 Poison Whips Battle Card:  included in Lizaru’s booster-pack. 100 Fire SP. Add the above on spinner until a player wins, then remove.

 LEGO NINJAGO – #99 Spirit Guard Crown Card: included in Slithraa’s spinner-set. 400 ice SP. Keep face-up; discard if Crown is removed. Build one of the above on spinner every spin, then remove.

None of these Spinjitzu cards seem especially great, but Poison Whips in particular has remarkably low SP. Spirit Guard is a nice card if you enjoy adding things to your spinner. On the other hand Premonition is not so good as very few characters have 1200 SP! :(

Another interesting bit of Ninjago news is the image below; the cover of a new Ninjago comic-book by the publisher PaperCutz that is supposed to be released in February. In this image, the four ninja appear to be outfitted in something like a traditional Japanese Kimono, although they do still have the ninja-emblem on their head-wraps. And check out those stone warriors the ninja are facing!

Also, there is going to be a LEGO Ninjago Character Encyclopedia including a “special edition” Lloyd minifigure, with an outfit that looks very similar to the Kimono on the front of the book by PaperCutz. My guess is that the ninja will continue to have the shoulder-armor piece even if their outfits change, as the special edition Lloyd also has the shoulder-armor. It’s also interesting that the ninja are using something like the light-sabers in the TV-show, Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu Episode 18 – Child’s Play.

It doesn’t quite make sense for Lloyd to be “special edition” though if the rest of the ninja will also look like him eventually. But the PaperCutz stories and images don’t always follow closely the story-line of the TV-show. I also think he looks a bit odd with golden shoulder-armor. Maybe I’m just used to him more with the darker armor-piece.

So, what do you think about the new Spinjitzu cards? And how do you like the new ninja outfits? And what about the stone warriors? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below! ;)

You know, the new Kimono Lloyd, or (PWR Armor as I’ve heard), Does look good with Gold Armor. It has Gold Highlights so it matches well! Plus, I came up with something. Possibly that means he’s higher in rank? It goes Dark Grey, Silver, then Gold.

There’s just one thing I wish LEGO would do, if there was going to be a Season 4.
Make a GOLD NINJA! His suit could be Chrome Gold, with Transparent Blue Shoulder Armor, and Crown Armor on the hood, in the shape of the Nexus Force symbol. His element would be everything, but mainly Imagination. If there was a season 4, the enemies would be Maelstrom Stromlings! Though I don’t know if LEGO would be up for this idea, it’s still a cool possibility.

P.S. – If anyone sees Pythor, or if he’s changed his name now cause he died, tell him I said “Hi!”.

WOW! I think that I just figured out what happens next in the ninjago story line! Since the golden weapons got destroyed, the ninja have less power! I think that those swords that the ninja are holding in the comic will be the new weapons of power!

:O that actually makes sense!
i dont really like the fact that they might have ALL of them use swords. i mean, sure, kai has a sword but cmon! jay needs nunchuks, cole needs a sythe, and Zane needs shurikens.

I get why the toy lloyd is a taller minifigure, cos in the T.V. series llyod gets transformed taller with the tea. But what I don’t get is, if the ninjas went back in time and destroyed the mega weapon, shouldn’t the ninjas have there golden weapons again? Does garmadon have them or four arms? I don’t understand
